They already are. Had to pay $26 the other day for Mario Golf for the 64. Freakin rediculous
Some games are already asking for loads of money. Suikoden 2, for example. >=O
:D
Friends tell me that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is kindof expensive. I've been wanting to play it for a long time but havn't had the chance to
How much would someone pay for a regular nintendo plus one controller and a copy of the original FF1 for reg nintendo?
*wonders*
I know this isn't really talking about ps1 or ps2. But oh well.
I don't think they are the investment everyone claims they are. I mean, perhaps far into the future ancient systems will be worth a lot for its historical purpose, but as far as "rare" games, no. I mean, anyone who buys Chrono Trigger for more than fifty bucks for SNES is crazy. And I freaking love Chrono Trigger.
It won't be worth that much so as long as ROMs exist.
I don't see why not. As long as people are willing to pay large sums of money for games then a market for rare titles will exist. It may not be sensible to buy overpriced games, but collectors will pay anything for seemingly useless items if they're rare enough.
There's an original Final Fantasy Tactics selling for some horrific price on EBay, so I suppose they already are, not that any of mine will be
I reckon some game be
Games like Speed Freaks you could probably find in a flea market so I think only rare games like Ico and FFI will be selling loadz
Got it for forty bux a week and a half ago.Quote:

Mainly because even rare games won't be rare, considering the Revolution will have downloadable old games, if it does really well which I believe it will, in due time, all the new systems will make it possible to download their oldest games, especially the popular ones which would be worth monmey otherwise.
THE JACKEL
You're missing the point. Being able to play a game of Super Mario Bros. will always be easy, but actually owning the original cartridge will become increasingly rare over time.
Games don't really appreciate in value. Yeah, there are exceptions (look what those Suikoden freaks pay for their favorite games), but my Dragon Warrior cartridge is probably worth a couple bucks.
Mabye the original metal gear solid, (The original metal gear already is) in 50 years may become rare, or the original resident evil, because they have remakes and people may only buy those, so they may get rare
Yeah, I'm keeping my old cartridges safe from myself for now...So in the near future I can sell them for about...$30. :D
No, I don't think their price will increase SO much, they'll only get to a point when they become rare and we'll start paying, like, twice the actual value of an original SNES cartridge, for example.
Your kidding right? I have like 10 copies of the game. I had a dollar on one time at funcoland and bought a load of copies when they were like 8 cents each.Quote:

In 80 years I will sell them all and be a gazillionaire111!!!!1
Or maybe you'll have had a heart attack and be paralyzed.
From rocking too hard.
One can only dream
Many old games aren't worth much because you're buying them at EB games without the box or manual. A mint complete SMB1 cart costs SLIGHTLY MORE.
0 bids says it doesn't.
For the record I actually have The Legend of Zelda with everything...besides the map.
Yeah, I guess there aren't any hardcore collectors interested in SMB1. I'm just saying that yes, games are actually worth more than what EB would give you for 'em. Seriously, most of the time the value of a used game assumes that you threw out the box, manual, and everything except the game media itself. People who do that annoy me.
only four things don't die...
1. music
2. love
3. television
4. video-games
look they'll increase in price and be valuable just like any collector's item... they'll only be worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, so the value of old video game cartridges in the future will be determined by none other than.... YOU. I mean, it all depends on how much you're willing to pay for it
THE JACKEL
What'd be hilarious is if everyone threw out their ET cartridges so there was only one or two copies remaining in existance. Imagine how much that would drive the value up. For ET. Just think about it.
Are you kidding me?Quote:
