The Human Race

wow, I was watching the news the other day when the person said something to the point of "What will America do to stay free in this world" or something like that. and a great thought occured to me, though it may sound a little cold. we should just blow the rest of the world up. I know its harsh, but it was just a thought.

So tell me, what do you think the human race's next great accomplishment will be? or even better, tell me whats good and bad about the human race and how the problems could be solved. I think we should create a biological weapon that only effect homosapiens, and kill us all off. but it would suck if the weapon somehow mutated as they often do.

I think it is a good idea to blow up all the world except for the USA. I mean, Asia is too crowded, Africa is too miserable, Australians have weird accents, South-Central America is constantly on revolutions and political corruption, and Europe is a land full of pedants and old stones...and Canada is gay, cause I say so. BLOW THEM ALL UP!

There are people who have had this discussion with me seriously...at an "American Legion Patriotism Program"...it's quite disturbing.

We will blow each other up.The earth shall be unliveable for a couple thousand years.Humans will live underground.When they come out we shall live in a darkage once again.

Vampires shall emerge from there fallout shelters after years of keeping themselves unnoticable by humans. There is no use arguing this, because your incorrect apprasial has been brought up time and time again of this issue alone. We do not have torture camps.

well, the US pretty much does have torture camps. I'm not sure which is worse, the fact that we are torturing, or the convoluted lengths some Americans will reach to try to justify it or rationalize it away as being acceptible.

it's a camp in which people are tortured. torture is defined in the human rights charter. the tactics in use in guantanamo breach it.

That is not condoned by the government. I wouldn't rationalize torture as being acceptable, but this is not some government-endorsed, American-citizen endorsed practice.

Let me explain something, I suppose.

You make wide, sweeping comments. "America loves torture" is not exactly true. Most Americans are aghast with some of our policies, and whatnot. To say that every American (or even a grand majority of them) support the clause in the Kubark Manual that implies torture is to be dead wrong.

Another thing to mention is that while certain agencies within the US government, in that sense, is legally allowed to utilize torture in extreme circumstances, does not mean that the entire governmental system is flawed. I disagree with torture, too. Trying to undermine my arguments - all of them - by resorting to "Americans support torture omg" is childish. (By the way, you asked earlier - is it that tactic that is called "argumentum ad hominem").

While we're on Latin phrases, there is another one I would like to present: ad hoc. It is a solution that is geared toward a specific purpose. If you or I or anyone wants to accomplish anything, it is this that we must utilize to solve anything. Rather than destroy the entire US government, we must attack whatever aspects of our government that condones torture, and then drop the issue when it is resolved.

Perhaps more than anything it is the overemotional, irrational side of your arguments that makes any other real aspect hidden - I don't feel like talking with anyone that bashes America for no apparent reason, but I'm willing to talk about certain practices we should abolish.

My aunt makes about 10k a year lol not a great salary lol.

YOu never seen a horrible neiborhood because all the fancy stuff covers it up.

i have actually seen bad neighbourhoods. i'm not shielded from this world.

what do americans need to survive? a dollar a day wage? genocide? drought? famine? disease? civil war? and 10k a year is 27x more than a dollar a day averge african. try surviving on that. millions upon millions do it daily.

ok, im gonna butt in here. you obviously have no idea how many people in this country dont or cant recieve welfare. You have no Idea how many transcients there are in this country living on $1 a day. I can go downtown in my city, and on every block, there is atleast 1 bum. It may not be as bad here as it is in your country (sorry, im not quite sure where you are), but it still is bad.

i live in scotland. not a country in poverty. so we are talking about the homeless then? i know certainly in my country sleeping on the streets is very rare to be forced. there are hostels both government and charity. the salvation army and other groups.

we have something like that here in america, but the problem is they are only in the really big towns, which I would have to drive 3 hours to get to. I live in a good sized town, but evidently not big enough. Portland, the city just across the river had a little camp town for the homeless, so they could have shelter and a place to stay, but the mayor was an ass and broke the camp up.

this is off topic, but, whats the scenery like in scotland where human life hasnt taken control of. Ive always wanted to visit scotland and ireland to see what its like.

the lochs are very beautiful and arran and the other islands are stunning.

one has to remember that home, shelter and food is a human right and must not be broken.

the situation in africa is where 30,000 children today will starve to death. that's out of 50,000 people a day starving to death. that's one child every 3 seconds.

the amount to save these people? half a sticj of gum per rich westerner per day. a few pennies.

what would that pay for? all debt wiped clean, a doubling in aid, a dropping of trade tarrifs, an end to us and eu subsidies. that was the goals set out by the africa commissions (and live 8 which the big 8 ignored).

damn. the government is so smurfing selfish. we could easily divert funds into that. I mean we have government grants that you can get for just being a certain age.

Edit:I read into the niger thread, and have changed my mind. it should not be up to my, or any other government to give money to people in need. the money that they admitedly to need, should come from somewhere else, but not the government.

well i refuse to buy western goods where possible to support africa. and it doesn't even affect american or eu farmers as it is all subsidised anyway.

no, the part of not buying stuff.

when i go into the supermarket. if i see a hoice between american bananas or african ones i will buy the african ones. even if they are more expensive. same with other food; oranges, sugar, meat, chocolate. if it is fair trade (alot of stuff is now a days) then even better. american and eu farmers are given subsidies. these gurantee prices for what they grow. sold or not. if it doesn't sell the government buys it. so not buying these goods doesn't affect the farmers. it does though help african farmers.

I have to say, probably not.

for me it would depend on how much more it was. if it was enough to hurt me.. prolly not. i'm fairly poor so it doesn't take much. i for example wouldn't pay double... mayb 5% or so more... but it all depends on cost/earning factors etc.

but you can do it economically in the same way i was.

and the cost of fair trade and african good is betweenn 5% and 10% more. coop chocolate is actually cheaper. i also give 10% of my money to the cause but that's just me and will probably stop when i go to uni in september.

To make this clear to many popel of other countrys, About 40% of America's population votes for a president. Some many of the complaining people ethier are too young or didn't bother to vote because they didn't jury duty.

Me i'm too young so i will complain. People of many other counrtiess and america follow thier midia about the happenings of the world. What makes a good story? Something the public wants to hear. Peopleudge the government not the citizens. I bet if our whole country voted we'd have someone way better in office than bush. I mean the poeple i babysit for didn't even know about the ondon bombings. The only way they paidd attention was if something happend in our country or the war. That how alot of poeple are and they don't listen to the other side of things. Closed mindedness is very popular these days as well as common sense is very rare.

Really i'm sorry for the other contrys that have more poverty then us but we have it to but those other contrys don't know it because the media they get thier info from doesn't want to know how bad america can be.
