Wanna be my guinea pig? Would you like to test something for me?
Nothing crazy, just play a round or two of Chocobo H & C, then post the following details:
1) Choco's beak level
2) Which location you played at (Forest, Lagoon, or Air Garden)
3) The number that appears over Choco's head as he digs
4) The colour of the Chocobo you have, although I don't think it'll make any difference
Anyone else too, you'd be helping me out since I'm unable to play myself right now.
my choco was like 36 (didnt bother going further ocne i finished all treasure) and i think at forest it did like 17-19. cant remember. if youd like, i can check exact numbers if it would help any ideas you arer cooking up in that super brain of yours.

Formula for how beak level determines how deep Choco digs:
Forest = [(9 + Beak level) / 1]
Lagoon = [(9 + Beak level) / 2]
Garden = [(9 + Beak level) / 3]

I've had it for a while, but everyone who tried it said it didn't work, even though it worked for me even at ridiculous Gamesharked beak levels like 0, 150, 255, etc...
I guess they used it wrong, or assumed it was for item depth instead of depth-per-dig.

^ That one is no good. You said you gained 2 levels in the Lagoon, wasn't your beak level 58 after that?
woops i put 28, yea i meant 58 and i know what ya mean about the lagoon, i let it sit for about 15 sec after the first discovery so i could write down the results and i still got it. but if u get 8 at air garden u get sooo many points, i got over 1k when i got 8
I have never gotten the time bonus in the Air Garden. Waaaay too much moving around involved. Same with the Forest after getting the mountain ability.

i got it in the forest, but not air garden. way too easy in lagoon...
