They would dominate
that would be rather awesome
Ever seen the movie Gattaca?
Six-fingered pianist, crafted by parents who wanted him to be a master musician. Can play music written especially for six-fingered instrumentalists.
Personally, I'm dead set against genetic resequencing of human beings, except to cure otherwise-untreatable illnesses.
The minute you start making genetic 'improvements' to people, you take steps toward genetic eugenics. Not the best direction for humanity to head.
What if he doesn't want to play the guitar
Then he will be shot.Quote:

Unfortunately retardation does not lead to the growth of additional body parts. Although if Homer Simpson is right, incest might produce children with "too many" fingers.Quote:

I'm just pointing out that what is generally referred to as retardation (not reversed acceleration) is a mental thing, not physical.
I know, but I was TRYING to make a joke, in saying that to get 6 fingers, you could have an incestuous child, but they'd be retarded and a bad guitar player.
Thanks for ruining it.
No problem.
incest leads to various recessive traits coming out.
Gattaca is a cool movie. However, people shouldn't be bred for specific roles.
Django Reinhardt, with only 3 working fingers on his left hand, was one of the best guitar players ever.
Arnold jacobs was the greatest tuba player ever and he only had one lung.
which is to say, it's not what you have, but what you do with it.
It's not the amount, it's how you use them. ;]
And having an extra finger wouldn't make you all that much better at
piano, it'd just make fuller chords possible, but you rarely need that
anyway since 3 note chords will suffice, and 4 note chords will give that
fuller sound. 5 and 6 note chords should usually be played without any
rhythm anyway, so it's best that they're played most often with 2 hands.
An extra ARM however would prove very interesting. It'd make stride piano
playing a thing of the past basically.
