What is the best free File Sharing system?
What makes Soulseek so good?
It doesnt suck, that's what makes it so good.
I've never gotten a bad file after... 3 or so years of using it, it doesnt lag in the least, and it's the absolute best for finding rare songs, especially of the Japanese variety.
The fact that it's better. :D
Most people on Soulseek share in entire albums for one, and the ones that don't usually get flamed. If you right click a song in Soulseek after a search you select 'Download Containing Folder'. Besides that it has all the same options as the others and I think a little bit more people.
So it's not buggy or nothing, low spyware, all that gak to boot?
Oh, and it also has not one bit of spyware.
Just make sure you get it from the official site (which I believe is slsknet.org) because there are a lot of rip off sites trying to make you pay for it.
Wow, we need to coordinate our posting. Nope, no spyware, no bugs... It's code is pretty solid.
lesson 1. don't use p2p.
I use Limewire
I Really like it, I can get any song off there, and animes
I havent used any other, so I dont know what there like.
But I dont need a reason to when Limewire is so good.........
Okay, any particular reason?Quote:

It's not illegal to share files with people. A lot of it may be unsigned artists. What if we own the albums?Quote:

it is illegal to share copyrighted material.
i just don't trust them. pay the 50p for the song and be content.
I use Limewire, i've had no problems with it, not one spot of adware or spyware, no viruses, low RAM usage and faster than kazaa.
If you want liable but slow and hard to get files try Winmx.
I got my BIOS file from there. So it is illegal.....Quote:

I don't give a toot if it's illegal i found a way around it but it aint friendly to other users. Even though it aint how p2p works you're free to go if you don't share but not with all programs.
I use DC++, I've only not been able to find a few, great source for anime and movies too. Only with this you have to share, and certain ammounts of files, and certian types of files like no installed games or programs or useless files, for each hub( www.hublist.org has a list with a ton of hubs that you can put right into the program) but that's how on a hub with only 1000 people on it you can find most things you're looking for.
Not illegal in Canada buddy. And all the rest are ways I'm looking to either circumnavigate, or lessen.Quote:

Soulseek is by far the best. It's not even close. I've used Kazaa and Limewire, and while Limewire was good, Soulseek is about a bazillion times better.
maybe next time Limewire mucks up I'll turn to soul seek.
I think it's pretty damn stupid to put your favorite artist out of business just to save a few Pounds/Dollars. I mean if they make that great of music they deserve for their "best" fans to at least give them a few dollars in their lifetime.
You arent going to put them out of business by downloading their music. The amount of money they get through touring alone is insane, not to mention their other merchandise.
Bit torrent.
i use ares and e-donkey, there ok
Agreed.Quote:

My favorite artist is dead, so I really find no guilt in taking money from the hands of the record label that cut him (RCA).Quote:

I use limewire, I download songs all the time not once was a single file infected.
Soulseek is the biggest heap of crap I've seen for a P2P program, it's badly laid out, you cannot divide the search into types and it doesn't tell you what type they are.
Soulseek used to have lots of rare stuff, but it's gotten worse and worse. Right now I only use DC++ and Emule.
It does tell you what type they are, and it does let you divide the search into types. It says right below the search box how to do it.Quote:

It's difficult for some people, yes.
And download times have nothing to do with the server, it has to do with the two people the file is transfering between, you know that.
but I tried more than once to actually dload I just hate it's layout Limewire is alot better.
I dloaded 52 episodes of an anime from there.
Then you were downloading from people with poor transfer rates. It says their kbs right next to the download, so you know how much you're getting. If you download from people with better rates, it'll go faster.
And yes, the layout can be difficult for some people, it works better for advanced users.
I've downloaded entire series from SoulSeek as well, again, it depends on who your downloading from. Not to mention that BitTorrent is always better for downloading episodes.
for torrents Bit lord is the best, it may take a week or 2 to get a series but it's worth it.
Because it depends on how many people are seeding it. The programs are just directing things, the user connections and amounts determine the upload/download rate.
Yep and Usually the ones I get average around 4kbps Dl and 10Kpbs up. It aint so bad. Better than Bit tornado.
I never find anything interesting on limewire, so I don't use it.
If you've been stuck with WinMX for 2 years Limewire is a saint.
why on earth would you use winmx in the first place?
It's better than Kazaa! Kazaa killed my last computer. Plus I only knew about Kazaa WinMX and Imesh by then. I didn't use Imesh because it usually crashed.
Limewire is alot better.
Vitamin C friendly!
WinMx worked well for a while, I used it years ago, and yes, definitly better than Kaaza or the Napster of the time.
I switched from LimeWire to SoulSeek a few days ago based on Ashley's advice, and she was totally correct. Things that are just impossible to find on LimeWire are readily available on SoulSeek.
The Soulseek/Bittorrent combo is unbeatable.
Torrent is a crap system if you want music and so is Limewire.
I dont think anyone is suggesting getting music from a torrent.
And yay for Kishi <3
My screen name on SoulSeek is The Abominatrix (big surprise) so if anyone wants to browse my stuff, add me. I have mass amounts of doujinshi too xD
I downloaded Whole albums, old songs and stuff from Limewire. It's good for music and Videos thats what'll do for me.
