SNES (as Final Fantasy III), then rereleased under it's proper title on the PSX a few years later.
EDIT: Grammar
why was FF6 called FF3 then ?
because square decided that america really didn't want FF2, FF3, or FF5, so they would cover it up by pretending they had never been made and renumbering accordingly.
lololol those sneaky squre people, so is there any differance between the one on the PSX and the one on the SNES ?
The PSX one comes with an opening and ending FMV, as well as a few other extras. The menu has an annoyingly long load time that I believe was not in the original version.
so the only differance is 2 fmv's ?
Prettymuch. And some things have different names, I think, but I could be wrong.
ok thanx for clearing that up ;)
There's also a secret Edgar/Sabin yaoi scene in the PSOne version.
In addition to the two FMVs (plus the third one cobbled from footage of the first two), the PS version has a detailed bestiary, a colosseum chart, a stats screen showing stuff like what percentage of your total battles each character fought in, and storyboards for the FMV sequences. The visual censorship in the American SNES version was also removed, and there were a couple extremely minor changes to the script.
So minor that they didnt even fix the glaring typos from the first. The only two instances of dialogue that were changed were spoken by NPCs.
They made me sad when they didnt fix the "Terra, come one, blah blah blah" typo
so is should get the PS version then
The only problem with the PS version is that the loading times are pretty bad. It's up to you whether all the extra features are worth it or not.
It came out in 1994 I believe for the SNES under the alias of Final Fantasy III as FFIV came out as FFII. The reason for this is because II, II, and V were never released until their compiltions. The FF origin's compilation caried a remake to FFI as it did with FFII which wasnt released before that. FFIII was never released outside of japan. Never made a remake, Yet. Planning one on the DS. FFIV came out as the second FF released outside of japan so they named it FFII. Same goes for FFVI because FFV was never released. So yes..Quote:

Before you get too excited it's not like they edited out full nudity.
Here's an example of the censorship on Siren when she's summoned:
I can just imagine an American mother complaining about it:
"Showing bare bottoms on a video game? The horror! Those few pixels will turn our children into drug abusing sex maniacs!"
So instead they give Siren skintight hot pants! Who said less was more...?
The US version look's better but I wonder how japanese children deal with these thing's. Are they expert's now and then??
They probably don't even look twice at it.
What do American kids think of watching wrestlers running around, and jumping on each other in skimpy bikini briefs?
It's only OMG TEH CONTROVERSIAL if the culture is unused to it. In ancient Greece, nudity just wasn't even not-an-issue, it was just everyday normality.
In the dark ages public executions used to be a source of family entertainment... etc, etc.
O_O Family entertainment??
People would have picnics at hangings. That's not even just in the dark ages, that was within the last century.
Japanese children are raised differently than American children. Nudity in anime and games isnt that big of a deal, because the Japanese understand a difference between artistic nudity and sexual nudity. There is also a lot of graphic violence in some of their kids shows (like Gatchaman), things Americans wouldnt accept. It isnt a big deal when you're raised with it.
is FF6 really as good as people say it is ?
Play it and find out for yourself.
thats what i figured you's would say, im getting right now as a matter of a fact
Better than VII..
loading times are there because it is on a disk not an a solid state cartridge. all disc games need to load like that. sometimes on the fly though.
ff6 is good. i prefer 7 though.
the censorship was all nintendo's doing.
FF6 wasn't relised on the SNES. The fan's relised it was there and bought it. It was released on the SNES but not relised..
weesht we knew what he meant.
See if I care..
For the record, Crash, it's realised. Check your own spelling before picking on others.
No thanks. I feel just fine flicking you people...
crash, stop posting. No, the load times are needlessly long. It's the sign of a sloppy conversion.Quote:

right so let me get this straight, FF3 was released in japan on the SNES, and not in the US 'cos they thought people wouldnt like it, but it turned out people did like it so it was re-released on the psx under the title FF6 ? correct ?
No.

To clear up some of the hardware stuff that ultima was apparently confused with as well:
FFI: Famicom/NES/WSC/GBA/PSX
FFII: Famicom/PSX/WSC/GBA
FIII: Famicom
FFIV: Super Famicom/SNES (as FFII)/WSC/PSX)
FFV: Super Famicom/PSX
FFVI: Super Famicom/SNES/PSX
FFVII (and onward) are normal.
im not sure if i can post this or not, if this isnt allowed plz will someone just delete this next bit...
but any way, i have decided to try and compleate all the final fantasy games, i know its stupid, and ill probly never manage it but im gunna have a go any way, currently iv ony done 7 (twice),8, x and x-2, but can some one PM some websites where i cant download final fantasy 1 through to 6 roms please ?
oh and thanx to Kawaii Ryűkishi and abrojtm for that very good explanation :D damn why did i have to be born so late :(
Look up on google for "FF*number here* ROM's". I say this because Romnation.net is currently not accepting FF ROM's. Something about illegal use..Quote:

I think we have the ROM hosted somewhere on this very site.
Yeah I was looking for that but I think they took the section down..
I've beaten FF1-FF6 and I was born in '89. Hell, the only "recent" FF game I've beaten was FFVII. I haven't even touched FF8-FF11.Quote:
