eugh...*shocked*

I saw the clips from the Nausia a couple of days ago. I was ill from watching them. The Nausia is a site showing horrible Terroist actions. This really opened my eyes on the terror on the world. The stuff I saw on that page was sick. Like that Kent Baily ( I think thats his name ) from Liverpool. He was caught. And beheaded sickly because Tony Blair didnt release the prisinors that he kept. The fact that these people are serious about this. And that they operate here in UK. Im getting kinda worried on where to go. The Bombs in UK really means that they can target anywhere. And that these people dont care what happens and could target me if they wanted. So, are you affraid of the terror around you ?

No, I'm not afraid. For one, the chances of actually being hit by a terrorist attack are tiny. For another, I can handle almost anything that gets thrown at me. And finally, because if I actually was scared, and let it change how I do things, then they would be winning.

Do I fear? Yes, sometimes. Most of the time, I don't think about it, though. There are millions of other, much-more-likely-to-happen ways of getting killed or wounded.

The way I see it, there's no reason for real fear, or a rational, well-based fear. Yes, there's a good amount of madmen out there, shouting out for your blood... but for us, that's hardly anything new. You just go on living your life, and let others handle the terrorists, just like cops deal with criminals and firefighters deal with fire. There's little point worrying so much about it, especially when there's so much more to worry about... just be safe, wary, and not an ignorant, oblivious fart. That helps. :)

I'm very glad I have been able to avoid those videos all together. That is the kind of thing that scars your "inner child". As far as the terrorists, well that's what they are, they're trying to cause terror. Hence the name. It doesn't take great skill or fortitude to kill someone like that. All it takes is... I don't know what... and I don't care to ponder. Just simply, it's nothing to be amazed, people do this sort of thing and have done it since the beginning.

Well, I can't find the site so I can't say for sure. I'm not afraid of terrorism/ist. My dad served 8 years in the U.S. military. I've lived overseas in the time of the Gulf War. I was exposed to several air raids, attacks, and possibly chemical warfare. I've seen a lot of videos. I've never seen this nausia compilation but it really doesn't phase me. I believe standing tall on the fact that negotiation will never be successful because to believe they would let the captured survive would be a trump. (And to believe negotions would work? We've already tried. Mr. Arafat spent most of his lifetime trying to make relations between Israeli and Palestinian militants. Everytime he was offered something he'd turn it down and war would repeat itself. So we cannot say we haven't given it a try. Excuse me 'tries' rather.)

The individual will die if we do not negotiate. If we remove troops they are not going to liberate the individual. They'll be held captive to ensure the troops are not placed back. Regardless the life will not be spared. More demands will be made and nothing eventually is accomplished. The fate is sealed. I'm sorry to sound callus but it's a lose-lose situation. We just have to stand and stay with the program.

What they are doing is murdering innocent individuals. Americans may have mistreated individuals at Gitmo prison and Gbay. But those individuals are not soldiers in allegiance to Iraq. Therefore they are enemy combatants. (Civilians.) Under which they are not protected by the Geneva Convention. (This means if we allowed it, we could torture them.) But that is not the way we operate. The soldiers whom did inflict punishment undue are being taken care of by the military.

With that said I'm just totally not concerned about terrorism. I'm not afraid of a man who hides behind women and children to fight. And I'm definitely not afraid to lose my life.

You're not, and even if you are mistreating them I'm going to wager the vast majority are there for a reason. Also: Remember the stories of the Koran being flushed down the toilet? Well, turns out those were complete lies. Didn't hear that reported widely, did you?

Finally, although I sadly can't track it down specifically, there is a text in some terrorist handbook or other which explicitly states that captured jihadists are to do everything possible to make the world believe they are being abused in custody.

Honestly, before I went to Iraq I was not scared of terrorist attack. Maybe I was just numb to it, but nothing changed after their attacks. Now, I live in hostile country and I don't fear attack. I'm not saying I'm fearless, theirs plenty of that during attack, but I'm not too scared to go outside the wire. I just take the situations as they happen.

Well of course I'm not. Because I don't wear a uniform fighting. It simply breaks down to Israeli vs. Palestine. Sorry to say but Israeli soldiers have uniforms and Palestinians do not. Israeli has a distinct army that is organized and noticable. Palestinians do not. In more cases than not Palestinians harm innocent civilians and have been for a while to get their way. We sit at the tables and voila. Things are offered but they want nothing or everything. And it's a wager. When those wagers aren't met the two sides fight. Boomyaa the explosions happen and when the smoke clears Israeli's stand because of their unity. The process has been repeating itself for years and in all reality it will keep going. Even if the U.S. intervenes. That is the source of this terrorism stuff. This is not a Bosnia situation. No side can be handled until they reach an agreement. Until then if not then it will continue.

Personally I think of it like this. I don't really pity those harmed in the prisons. You fit the shoe then walk it. If not, then don't put yourself in the position of being a soldier when you're not. I have 0 mercy for people like that. You lift it up? You better pull the trigger.

you need to look at the organsisations individually. you have your chechnyan rebels wating an independant state, you palestinians wanting palestinian land. then you have your al-qaeda's which require a brief history lesson.

must of the arab world was owned by western governments. then we left during the first half of the 20th century and enplaced democratic governments. these though were mostly corrupt and were over thrown. these coups were down my military types and they instated a dictatorship (libya, iraq). and they tried to be all western. one country was an anamoly. iran. it reversed this trend. went back to the muslim routes. but still took in western ideas. (unlike afghanistan). it was the worlds first muslim state. and this seemed like a good idea. so people tried their own little revolutions to imitate it. these in suadi arabia, libya, iraq, egypt all ended in bloody miserable failure. after the fall of the berlin wall and the rise of the taliban in afghanistan (people there believe they not the west crushed russia). one man stood out. bin laden. he liked these new islamic state ideas and after sudi arabia rejected his idea to fight against iraq after the invasion of quwait. they rejected him and he became very bitter about this tried his own little revolutions and was eiled to sudan. in sudan he would lead another revolution which is successful and put in place the sudanese government which is now busy committing genocide.

bin laden and his general had a brain wave. attacking all these small arab states was not the answer. they were all aided and helped by one country. america. to remove the head of the snake was the new plan. this would have two reasons. it would make creating islamic states easier because you would limit resistance without american aid. and you would impress would be followers by showing that you had the power to defeat the super power.

this idealogy resulted in the embassy bombings after which bin laden was kicked out of sudan and returned to afghanistan (now even more bitter than he was before after being exiled twice). he had the idea of the big attack. the pearl harbour of terrorism. 9-11. the actual plan was in fact bigger than what happened. it was limited due to various arrests and lack of funding. there werw a few other attacks planned that were foiled. blowing up a few planes of the pacific. the assination of the pope in his plane. etc.

al qaeda was formed on the basis of the creation of a fully islamic arab world in the same way iran is/was.

there are of course other organisations. ones fighting for a sole cause like iraq. ones that are extreme right wing wanting the death of all jews in israel. but the vast majority are not.

frankly these people have been screwed over again and again and again. in palestine, iraq, iran, turkey, arabia, chechkya, kashmire, before that when europe controlled the middle east. and the islamic state idea was the answer.

but these people are angry and with good reason.

Yes, but you want to know what they all have in common?

They hate that women have rights. You cannot produce a single Islamic terrorist group that says otherwise. They hate Jews. Again, it doesn't matter if they're in Gaza or Bahgdad(sp?). They hate books. You know what they did in Afghanistan after the fake Koran abuse story? They burned down libraries, some containing holy scriptures 1000s of yrs. old.

I was sold on the 'solidarity' of these guys(never women) after I found out about the 7/7 bombers. They were all rich, British born and raised crazies. They're anger didn't stem from being poor or growing up oppressed. They simply hate women, Jews and books.

I find obfuscating your hatred for the West by supporting 'liberators' quite disgusting. Imagine if they did 'liberate' Palestine, Iraq, Chechneya and Afghanistan. They'd reduce all women to mechanisms of procreation, burn all books and murder Jews quite gleefully.

yep. i was brought up chrsitain and read a lot of the torah and quran for my RMPS course.

Yet you somehow missed the part where the quran described Jihad?

jihad or holy war. fought to defend the muslim faith or it's lands. like afghanistan. not fought to convert but to defend. it was what they did with the ruskies. and what has been called since on westernised regimes in the middle east and israeli occupation of conquered lands. this though is not a true jihad in the most common sense. it has not been called against a occupying or invading force but rather the government and it is not a war but mostly terrorist action (murder is one of the ten commandments passed down to moses or noah (can't remember which). that particular event happens in all 3 books if i recall.

and so is suicide spoke greatly against in the quran. it states that no matter how good his life and how perfect he may have lived that if he takes his own life he will be sentenced to eternal punishment.

martyrdom takes place on the battlefield in the event of heroism. the argument of the extremists is that they are killing themselves to fight the war and so is not true suicide.

Jihad is a holy war, a devine struggle, is one of the six main foundations of Islam (along with things like charity, pilgrimage, etc). It happens on two levels - the global, and the personal.

On the personal level, it is the struggle of a Muslim against his own devils, his will to do wrong, and to steer away from the teachings of Islam. Therefore, it is a holy war within himself. So far, this is a benign idea.

That way, when Egypt became more secular over the years, it suffered from continous acts of terrorism, in the name of Islam and Jihad - all of which is legitimate, according to Islamic law. They are infidels, and once they are under the axe of Jihad, must either correct their ways (convert or go back to their religious roots), or perish.

In the eyes of radical Muslims (of which there way too many for comfort), the entire world in the Nation of Islam, and all must convert or die. Tough.

About suicide - yes, much like the two monotheistic religions that came before it, Islam speaks against suicide. However, dying for a cause (and in Islam, the cause justifies the means, under most circumstances) is not suicide. If you blow yourself up to kill the enemy, it is not suicide, according to Islamic law, but an act of heroism, a martyr's death, worthy of a place in heaven.

Where, in the Kor'an? No, it isn't. As far as I know, the killing of civilians isn't even mentioned in the Kor'an, as it doesn't really bother or interest anyone. Back in those days, the killing of innocent wasn't such a big deal - villages were pillaged, women were raped, and it was all legit. Today, everyone who's not a soldier, is innocent. Back then, merely being part of a people or a nation meant that you were not innocent, and worthy of the same fate as any soldier. Every war was a total one.

and as far as them not being trustworthy as translations. the bible was translated by an english king. it used to be read in some other funny language (latin i think) but he employed a few folk to translated it so the uneducated could read (at the same time he created the church of england and stopped being catholic). the bible in that way is not in it's orginal form.

War and murder are not the same thing. If you're fighting for survival (i.e, total war) it is not murder if you fight and kill the enemy. Murder is an un-provoked act of killing, while war is a whole big mess that involves killing and all kinds of other nasty $hit. It is all about where you draw the line... and terrorism means there's ALWAYS another way.

That is true. The King James translation is an awful one, in all aspects... and so, by reading it, you are being misguided or simply confused by the ideas and stories portrayed in the bible. Want to get the real feel of a book? Read it in its original language, or at least one that is close (for example, an English translation of a French\German\Spanish book, or another Latin-based language).

What's happening is terrible, but these teenage boys that become terrorists are essentially being brainwashed.They go to schools to read the Koran ALL DAY. They are not supposed to think about what they are reading, just abide by it. And they become terrorists, with the belief that if they sacrifice themselves for the religion, they are promised 72 virgins in the afterlife.

the koran is not the problem. anyone could read the koran all day everyday and not be affected. it comes down to three things. interpertation, teaching and situation.

Cuchulainn. i hold the same values to the ira as any other force. i am in fact closer to their views than that of the protestants. i sympathise with the cause like i do in palestine and chechnya. it is the actions i have issues with.

I don't recall Christianity having a law calling for the killing of sinners. It just says "bummer, you're damned for an eternity in Hell", but that's not much of a threat to non-believers, now is it?

Islam takes action, that's the entire difference.

I agree here. Christianity was used a tool for several mideval kingdoms and churches (Still is misused for some). Do not let these misguided people drag down the whole religon.
Also, Like christianity has churches, Islam has many different followers, whom belive differently on issues. Most Christians are to take action as well, in the words of Jesus "Love thy enemy."

Well, if you think God is human, or that humans are Gods, and that the two work on the same moral and existencial level... well, you didn't learn much from that violence-sex-humour filled book, now did you? God is God, he gets to do whatever the fook he wants, he is not human, and he obeys no rule imposed on men. Also, please note that all those murderous actions commited by God were in retaliation for unkind and unjust deeds commited by humans, first. You cannot analyse God's actions based on your moral standards, though - as he is not subject to them.

God isn't there for personal example - that's what prophets, kings and saints are for. God is the great technician of the world, he fixes things the way he sees fit. If he wants to press the 'reset' button, a la` The Flood, he gets to (not before he makes a back-up disc comprising of same old coot, his relatives and more than a few critters :)).

and if you want a bad interpertation of the bible. the LRA in uganda. not a nice bunch of fellows. all fighting in the name of god. makes al qaeda look like a bunch of hippies.

Dude, maybe you didn't grasp that whole all-powerful, all-mighty, all-knowing all-doing concept of God... but he obeys no law, none at all. He is not sinless, just like he's not sinful. You cannot define him in words. He is beyond your limited comprehension and ever more limited semantics.
