how did you get banned from EoEO?

Well I just found out I got kicked off of EoEO for "spamming" I beleive. I can understand teh reasoning for teh ban in such a case that I used a smilie drinking beer twice and said that the character I roleplay could drink...but I mean still, this is my FIRST infringement of teh general rules and it says under the rules :
Banning. Banning is permanent. Everyone gets at least one warning by PM before we ban you, except in extreme cases. Extreme cases include mass spamming or advertising, posting or linking to porn or even porn-related / implied material, or posting extreme disturbing content, all of which will get you banned without warning. Considering there are members as young as 10 here, we want to keep the place on a family-friendly suitable level in general. We reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason, but we generally don’t ban anyone unless they’re being a huge jerk about something. But once you’re banned, you’re gone for good. Be nice and you don’t have to worry about it.

I don't think I really was being a huge jerk about anything and I can see the logic behind the ban, but at the same time I don't think I broke the rules enough to get banned on my first time. Thoughts?

EoEO bans are a lot easier to get than perma bans from the forum...

That information about banning is information about permanent banning. You only got banned from EoEO, so what was written there really doesn't apply for your ban. As Mindflare said, warnings for EoEO is in the forum description and that thread. :cool: Don't worry though, EoEO and World Events are the most boring forums anyways. :rolleyes2

it's easy to be banned from eoeo just use the phrase
"you are a freak" and ipso facto you're banned.

I am proud to say that no matter how many times I may have gone close to breaking the rules, I have always known where to toe the line. I know where to stop. Therefore I have never had No EoEO for me.

Alternatively, I just never post in there.

You don't have to be a huge jerk to get banned from those forums. Being a semi-jerk is good enough and zero tolerance means zero tolerance.

Permanent Bans and EoEO Bans are two different things. If you had a permanent ban you would have a nice pink title and you would no longer to able to post anywhere in EoFF.

An EoEO Ban is usually for two weeks for your first offense. After a few of these, it then will become a permanent EoEO Ban where you will no longer be able to view or post in the EoEO or the EotW Forums.

The warnings for those two forums are in the forum description as well as the IMPORTANT thread that should be read before posting in them. No other warning is required.

For permanent bans, you would get at least one PM first advising you to curb whatever it is that you're doing that you shouldn't be doing. After that, your fate is basically in your own hands.

I got banned the first time because a CK "misunderstood" a general (factual) comment to be a personal insult against him/her. I made a thread about it in Feedback, which was cool because before they closed it, a couple people who usually disagreed with me went in there to say that they agree it was a bogus ban, and though the CK that banned me never openly admitted that he/she was wrong, they lowered my ban from three weeks to two. The second time, it was because I got tired of not just the ignorance in there, but the people being stubborn about it -- ignorance and arrogance is not a good combination -- so I made a post prettymuch calling everybody in that thread stupid, and saying that anybody who agrees with a certain idea is a dumbass. I still stick by that idea, but oh well.

Even if a post is spam'ish, If the post didnt hamr no one, then why be so strict. And why now do we have all these bans. Back when I joined ( a year or so ago ), there were none of these. Why has EOFF had the sudden change of heart.

Dreddz, if you don't like those rules, don't go into those forums. Spam does not belong in there whether it harms anyone of not. Why would you put spam in a serious topic? I got banned from EoEo for deliberately spamming it with nonsensical threads during a server move.

Other than that, I'm smart enough to say what I want without being banned. I'm wacky that way.

I haven't reiceved a ban from any area of EoFF.

I haven't gotten a EoEO ban, but I do bite my tongue quite a bit in there. If I didn't have so much restraint, I woulda been banned multiple times by now. I'm very glad that there are people like I'm my own MILF and Lindy who say what I'm thinking and then get the ban while I get to chuckle gleefully.

Eyes on the World was a mess. When even I can't bear to go in there, you know something is wrong, being as that's one of my favorite forums. Thus, it was decided that we would begin cracking down again, and thus we have. most eoeo bans are not permanant. most are 2 weeks.

Not so much that I care about posting or looking at those forums, but that someone as vitriolic and hateful in those forums as him is unbanned already.

my ban was reduced from a 14 day ban to 10 day ban due to a few inconviences that i suffered.

No cloud. Your ban was actually for 15 days because of that banning spree that BoB and gang went on a few weeks back. Bans had to be reset and they were reset to the be the closest to the original ban as possible. In your case it was set again to 10 days which made it a bit over the original 14 days. Not sure about Lindy and the rest because I wasn't involved in those bannings/unbannings, but it seems to me that they might have been reset back to there original times.

Actually I reset it to 10 when we rebanned everyone because his usergroup was messed up and he really was on 12 days.

I started seriously playing them at eleven (on my eleventh birthday, actually) and had no problem appreciating them. In fact, I appreciated them more, considering how jaded I've become toward the series in recent years :P

I am a good little TSoL who rarely post there, and tries not to step on anyones toes, the problem is I often step on my own. So no EoEo bans for me...yet...

The main reson I've yet to banned from EoEO is that when I'm too lazy to post what I'm thinking usually

i paid my dues. but i don't think i've changed much. still saying the same things as before in the same way as befofe. it was just unfortunate one time it was seen as being inappropiate (it wasn't).

Cloud 9 just has the ability to make posts just on the cusp, a little too far into the gray zone to earn a ban.
