What Ramuh is doing in the Cleft of Dimensions? I never bothered to get him in world one, and now he's suddenly showed up right outside Halycanos' Castle. It wasn't the first time I had gone though this section, I was doing some turbo levelling to try and get to level 99 (which I have now...yay) and he just randomly showed up like a normal encounter, but with boss music...
Explanation?
I would imagine it's some way to gain the Ramuh summon since you missed it earlier in the game. But I've always obtained Ramuh the first chance I get, so I don't know how you would go about obtaining him now.
Presumably, it's just a mistake in the enemy placement. It'd be weird if it were intentional, considering the game doesn't offer any means to get the rest of the missable summons.
I doubt it's international, this was a ROm version of the game...
...don't judge me, I also have the anthology version. But turbo leveling is the only far to go when it takes 100 hours to reach level 99...

that's pretty cool, though. more fun fighting Ramuh there than those annoying ninja guys.
i reckon its a glitch but it might be intentional. if shiva or golem ranadomly turn up that proves its deliberate and meant to give you all missable summon monsters but i think its a glitch(did you get the summon when you beat him because if you didnt that might mean its just a random encounter.)
It's probably not a glitch in the game since it happens in all versions. More likely it's just an incorrectly set probability level for Ramuh or something.
Yep, I was able to use him afterwards, as if I had beaten him in the forest originally. He even gave the whole 'you have Ifrit?' speech...Quote:

Just Hydra and one more of the earlier ones (the one that casts petrify).
I doubt Hydra will show up, but the other was some form of encounter if I remember correctly so...

I doubt any other summons will show up . . . When I played my copy of the Anthology game, I missed most of the summons levels 1-3. I never used summoners, so it wasn't a problem, but none of them showed up as random encounters in the Cleft of Dimensions . . . you'd think that I would have seen at least one if the game meant you to be able to encounter them.
Keep in mind though that this was in a specific section, and after about 60 hours (yay for turbo mode!) of non-stop random encounters that I fought him. The encounter rate is probably really low.
Ramuh probably showed up cuz he's harder to find compared to Shiva and Ifrit.
Maybe Ramuh has the hots for you?
Do you even encounter any other summons on the map like ramuh? You have to go and search out ifrit and shiva I know, but it's been a while since I've gotten any summons past these xD
The only other summon you find just hanging out on the world map is Catoblepas (Shoat). Golem is also found in a random battle, but it's on that mountain.

Dearest Kishi had never heard of it happening at the time. I was lost.
I'm reasonably certain after much searching and deliberation that it is as others have said before me.
A note: in guido's cave, there's an old man called a metamorphasomething and one of the forms he can change into is Ramuh (seeing how he did it just now). I doubt it's the same thing, but I just thought I'd mentioned that it happened. He also turns into Shiva.
