FFV and FFVI were just announced to being release on the GBA.
This means that within a year if you own a Nintendo DS you can take FFI - FFVI with you where ever you go.
That's right, FFVI, where ever you go. *orgasms*
I hope these will be receiving an updated translation, especially VI. They didnt even bother to fix the glaring typos when they ported VI to PS1.
I wonder if we'll see better graphics at all?
the article says they'll be adding things, so slight graphic and translation upgrades are not out of the question.... this is definitely a dream come true!

I'll definitely buy VI and pick up the other two games some other time. Unless I try getting IV for christmas.
I knew it was coming, but seeing it official makes me get all tingly inside. Best news ever, basically. I just wonder why they waited so long.
Awesome news indeed. I'll be playing all those games(along with Dawn of Souls)on the GB player on my Gamecube :D
But I wish Square would release FF III on the GBA that way GBA owners can have the complete collection :cry:
I agree. I don't want to have to buy a DS to play FFIII. Guess I'll be emulating the Famicom version a while longer.
But you do want to buy a DS for Final Fantasy III, Children of Mana, Crystal Chronicles DS, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Yoshi's Touch & Go, Meteos, Nintendogs, and many other great games.

Think about it this way, once you buy your DS you will have a hand-held capable of playing the entire pre-psx numerical Final Fantasy collection all on its own.
This is the kind of news I like to wake up to.
not only that, it'll be able to do wireless multiplayer with people around the world on games like Mario Kart, plus all those great game mentioned earlier, and the ones that are sure to come out such as Fire Emblem games.... the DS is going to be so awesome once all these great games start coming out! Right now I think the GBA is the best system, used to be the SNES, but most of the great games are coming out for the GBA, and with all these great games coming for the DS... omg.... <3Quote:

Howsomeever, it's not a miracle box. Using high quality sound samples eats up ROM space, which is a pretty important thing to conserve where cartridges are concerned. You can hear how heavily compressed the sound samples were for Dawn of Souls just by listening to them. There's an audible hiss any time any music plays. Now, that's not to say that the music wasn't freaking amazing, just that you have to make sacrifices when you're making carts. Not everybody wants to pay $100 for a cart just for the improved sound quality. The ones that DO want to do that are what we like to call "Neo Geo owners".
Just wondering if anyone had heard when they planned on releasing this masterpiece for the gameboy advance. At school I can't go to certain websites so I really can't check for myself. Any help would be appreciated :)

Well, once again I'm happy I still have my GBA. Looks like now I'll finally have some more games to get for it. It's been quite unused as of late, but this will help keep me occupied for some time. :)
I prefer to play my games on a big screen while sitting on the couch, so I have no excitement whatsoever in this announcement. Playing a game on GBA sucks.
So get a GB player and install it onto the Gamecube so you could play on the TV :)Quote:

FMV doesn't fit well on cartridges.
what about KH:COM its FMVs looked really good
It had like 3, they were fairly short, and they had a resolution of like 5x7. FFVII has dozens of FMVs, some are pretty lengthy (the ending comes to mind). Not to mention the vocals for One Winged Angel. Not to mention that the original game spanned 3 CDs, that's at least 1.9 Gigabytes right there. Granted, they COULD make a ROM chip that large, but that would be expensive. People don't like paying $80 for a handheld game.
Sadly, I imagine that if FFVII came out on the DS, there would be plenty of people that would shell out $80 for it.

Hey, FFVI is hard as hell! Anyway, considering I made it to Mysidia on my first day where it took me about 15 days on my PS1, and now about 2 weeks later, I'm at the final dungeon (lost FFIV Advance for about a week...*puts target on back*), imagine how fast I'd progress through these... Now we just need CT...

The SNES emulator was slow enough without making sacrifices in frame rate and sound, I highly doubt that a GBA emulator woul dfit very well on the PSP.Quote:

32 MB is actually enough to be able to keep half a dozen SNES games on it. Just to play games, 32 MB is fine, You'd need a 1GB to be able to play Videos, music, larger ROM's such as NeoCD games. I'd pay Ł 60 for all that.
All I'm saying, is it's not worth 100$ to for videos/music, there are other things made for that, that do it better. When I buy a gaming device, I play games. Plus I still own my NES, SNES, and N64, and the Revolution will be able to download many of the old great games.... and another large number have/are being ported to GBA, actually every game series is basically on GBA (sonic, mario, zelda, metroid, final fantasy, lunar, shining force, sonic, megaman, tales, lufia, breath of fire, phantasy star etc. those were just ones off the top of my head)

I have almsot the whole series on Sony, I'd love to have them on Nintendo systems (where they belong, IMO)
The only thing that stinks, is i'm a completist. I'd hate having 1-6 and not 7-9.
Maybe SquareEnix will keep working with Nintendo in future, it would neat to have "remastered" games on the Nintendo handhelds

Maybe they'll just use OTHER buttons. They managed to make several different Street Fighter games for GBA, and those all use 6 buttons.

@ Rengori: FFVI. FFV was challenging in some parts, but not unbearable. FFVI has far too many tricks to abuse to level up and defeat bosses with ease. (Not to mention the Moogle Charm.) So it'll be even easier on GBA, somehow. (Unless they stop tuning down the difficulty on these remakes. :cat: )
FFV and VI kill me at almost every new area of the game. You should have seen how many times I lost Cyan, Gua, Locke, and Celes in the Magitek Factory.
Well, of course if it's your first time through the game and you haven't obtained knowledge of the numerous (and I mean there are alot of 'em) tricks and bugs in FFVI, then it would be somewhat difficult. Same goes for FFV too, though it doesn't have any highly noticeable tricks/bugs/etc. :cat:
V and VI i thought were the hardest two in the series. I'm actually hoping they'll be harder on the GBA. That would rock.
If anything they'll be easier for the GBA with new bonus dungeons and the like. And the jump command will get nerfed.
I can hope though. However I can't really bring myself to care much about V, new jobs don't really do it for me. VI, on the other hand, is what really gets me going. Having it on the DS is better than Crack.
I heard that 5 and 6 are going to be translated by the guy who did Star Ocean:Till the end of time not Ted Woosley.
That matters why?
Woolsey did the original translation for FFVI.

You can name Bartz yourself, Lenna is a good name, and no one likes Cara/Krile anyway.
I had no problem with Butz, Rena would be cool, but Lenna is just fine, hopefully they'll settle on a romanization for "Kururu" (Klulu, maybe? That isn't much better....), and Galuf was cool.

Damn! I am so excited for Final Fantasy VI Advance! I honestly am still in shock that it is being ported to GBA! I used to have it for SNES, got to the very end of the game (At Kefka's Tower, post-apocoliptic world) and then my SNES broke so I sold it. Then I bought a new SNES and couldn't get FF6 for a good price... now I'm waiting to get it on GBA. Can't wait!

FFV and FFVI are going to be on the GBA, which means they can be played on the DS. FIII will be only for the DS.
