How do you execute them? because they never work for me.
As the name suggests, you have to be near death. The character much be kneeling due to low health, and the fight command with then randomly execute a Desperation Attack. It rarely happens.
I believe it is a 1/32 chance, or something similar.
I think I've only ever seen 3 throughout the several play throughs I've done :p
I don't think I've ever seen one. Seriously.
I always get Edgar and Sabin on low hp so there kneeling but they never do it but if it is a 1/32 chance then that explains it, I seen Locke do his near death attack on my first play through, he was about level 10 or 11 and when i used it he did well ova 3000 damage.
I've played at least eight or ten times, and I believe I've only seen one, which was Celes'.
They must have really low HP and it happens at random
If the HP of the character in question is less than an eighth of their max HP, there is a 1 in 16 chance that using the Fight command will bring about a "Desperation attack" instead. Neither Gau nor Umaro has a Desperation attack.
yea, they're quite rare and I wouldn't ever depend on them, but they look cool.
Don't you have to wait for a while in battle first?
Its pretty random and barely ever happens. I only ever seen Lockes......Twice.
And Im not sure wether this is a near death attack but sometimes Umaro will pick up one of your party members and throw them at the enemy. It usually deals a fair bit of damage.
ive only seen terras and edgars. ots a shame there so rare becuase they are great moves.
I've seen Locke's, Shadow's, and I believe Terra's.
And Umaro's picking someone up and hurling them at a monster is a result of the Rage Ring.
I saw the moogle rush of Mog one time, but that´s all.
didn't even realise they had near death attacks.... shows how many times i've seen them
I've never had one and I've played through the game dozens of times.
I figure if I'm ever bored enough I'll get everyone low enough in hit points and take them to the Solitary Island in hopes of seeing them all.
On my first play through-which is the one I'm doing now- I've seen Celes' twice and Sabin's once.
I saw Mog's once. Kind of a waste since it pretty much looks like Pummel, only from a Moogle.
I have seen Sabins 1 on the fight against Vargas when i didn't know how to activate Pummel >.<
If you do decide to do that, FM, be sure to Stop the enemies to prevent them from dying from inherent Seizure. Desperation attacks can't occur in the first 26 or so seconds of combat.Quote:

I call them Limit Breaks, as Limits were based on these attacks!
Well it makes sense. They're about to die and desperate not to.
And Gogo doesnt have a Desperation Attack to see, neither does Umaro. They dont have Fight commands.
Actually, Gogo does have a Desperation attack: X-Meteo.
Neither Umaro nor Gau has a Desperation attack, however.
Suck it up a lil, and stop healing! :p I had to try to seem em all. It was worth it too; Made me a better human being.Quote:

You give Gogo the fight command, not that difficultQuote:

Jeez, it's been ages since I've posted anything on these forums...
Everything anyone ever needs to know has already been discussed in detail in an old thread, and I mean everything...
If you look at th very bottom of the forum window, you'll see a link to archives. I remember seeing countless threads like this, and explained them in full, in even more detail than was nessecary... You can find an algorithms faq here that will answer pretty much any non-story and non-charachter based question you'll ever have.
I havn't a clue how I can still see some familiar faces here, and I have no idea how you're not sick of answering the same questions over and over and over...
Well, that's me done here for another year...
I've only seen Sabin's and Celes'. And they were both in the same battle in the same playthrough. When I told someone about it, he didn't believe me!
ive only seen Sabins and Cyans near death attack and i wasnt really paying attention when Cyan did his. I kinda looked away then heard a noise and saw the screen black and saw Cyan was attacking
You never know when they'll show up, honestly, and I was half asleep and almost missed Sabin's Tiger Break! Then I wanted to record it on tape to prove that I got it, but I was so tired I didn't even think about it. When I woke up the next morning, I thought it was a dream, but my brother told me that it was real. Woooo~w.Quote:
