Hmm... I'm not sure I agree. What about FFX? If you level up enough you could kill just about anything in 1 hit. Even the final bosses!
EDIT: But how DID you do that, right before the Temple of Ancients, I have all my characters over Level 45, I have all the materias available to this point Mastered (with exception of Kjata), and I even have 2 Mastered HP PLUS's! And I still can't reach 9999 HP with more than 1 character!
That still required more work than leveling in FFVII did assuming you didn't use any of the sphere level tricks. Without spending a lot of time leveling characters, FFVII was definitely the easier game for me (not that FFX was tremendously difficult either).Quote:

Use of HP Plus materia is the only way 9999 HP can be reached at level 49 in a normal game. Without use of HP Plus materia, only Barret can reach 9999 HP naturally, and he can only do this at level 99, under particularly rare circumstances.Quote:

Very true. But for me, FF7 was the hardest, because it was the first i played. The main plot of FFX is way too easy. It made up for it with the monster arena though which requires a lot of time.

if you managed to gain master hp plus materia then your characters would have levelled up anyway beyond 49.

i think its possible... but it would probably involve some characters dying.. or characters filling all their slots with Hp-Plus materias.. (Eg: Cid using his Dragoon Lance, Aeris using Princess Guard, Cloud equiped with Edincoat)
hmm, I don't think it's possible to have more than 4 mastered HP PLUS materias on Level 45 so...
