no
Hell no
I love this game. #3 in my top 5 favorite FFs
Why do you hate it?
this game is more enjoyable if you catch all the referances, i dont think it is possible in one play though,..
this game is good:D :D
like trance is some kind a tranform of super saiyen!
No, I hate YOU, Alive-Man! :)
I hated it because of the stupid way you would never be able to complete it properly witout relying on knowledge that you could ONLY get from outside of game play.
Stupid, obscure and meaningless tasks you had to accomplish in a certain order, and obscure, irrelevant things you had to do to unlock or get secret stuff.
Things you would NEVER, ever, do naturally unless you ALREADY KNEW that you had to do these tasks, in order to unlock that particular secret.
Combined with the horrific ineptitude that was "the offical players guide" which was nothing more than a book saying "go to our website to find this/that out".
No thanks. That's what I WASTED MY MONEY ON BUYING THE GUIDE BOOK FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
it had its pros and its cons but there were more Pros than cons :)
The players guide was annoying, but the game was still fun.
I liked this game. :)
I never used a strategy guide on my first playthrough and I had very few problems.Quote:

Actually, some of the people I've talked to hated it because it was to simple, not because it was complex. It's really not a hard game and you don't need outside refernces to beat it. Not even for most of the extra stuff, if you try hard enough.
I found it really enjoyable though, so yeah. It was a nice mix of humor and seriousness to me. But, whatever, everyone has differnet likes and dislikes.
Care to give us a reason to justify this thread as more than just spam?
you don hate it. THE GAME HATES YOU!!! ff9 amazing and i hate you.
ahh it dont hate him.. IT JUSTS WANTS TO KILL HIM!!
I think he probably hates it 'cause he has no taste but that's just me jk
I like FF9, despite never having the time to complete it.
FFIX hates you
It's certainly not my favorite, but I did enjoy it.
*cough* Final Fantasy *cough* When has it not been that way for other FF's? Calling them stupid, obscure, and meaningless is just molding the idea.Quote:

I didn't like it either. I couldn't even finish the game. And it's not because I sucked at it. Why do people always jump to that conclusion? I liked the story and the characters, but I found the gameplay left a lot to be desired.
Of course, we all have our own opinions, so everyone can stay calm.
In games like FFVII and earlier, you theoretically could have worked these secrets out yourself simply through attentive game play.Quote:

I personally really enjoyed FFIX, it being prob my fav. Final Fantasy tied with VII,VIII, X, and VI, sry I just can't pick one out of those, to me they are all great games in their own respect. I do agree that the guide sucked though, having you look up something online every 5 mins. kind of defeats the purpose of buying a guide that you can, get this, take with you! *gasps* I could of saved 15$ and just went to gamefaqs.com
That's the problem. People hate it only because it's not related to the FF games. However... if the movie didn't have the "FF" in its name, people would think of it as a pretty good animated movie. The characters in "The Spirits Within" are actually, in my opinion, better developed than those in "FFVII:AC"... and the storyline is better as well.:greenie:Quote:

Well I haven't seen advent children yet so I couldn't really comment on that. But I know I wouldn't have liked the spirits within regardless of whether it was final fantasy or not.Quote:

There were some good moments in teh plot that were interesting, but they got overshadowed by something. I'm not sure what.
The music was very nice though.
I can't say that I hated it, but the game does have some problems. What really irritated me was Eiko and Quina. They are soo thrown into your party without a good reason. I mean, Eiko is in the party because she loves Zidane, and Quina wants to eat everything in the world. To me they wanted to put a Blue Mage and another White Mage/ Summoner, but couldn't find a good way to do it. But, overrall, it's a good game.
Eiko was just plain annoying.
they put Eiko in cause she was another summoner and helped release Alexander and she lives in an empty village with the Eidolon Wall and she has one of the four jewels. They just threw her in your party cause she helped move the story line. Quina....they threw her in so you could eat things (duh)Quote:

Wow the only post Alive-Man has made was when he made this topic. Owned!

FFIX was my favorte FF
also the first one i beat...... i beat 7 last month for the first time.....
now i'm trying to unlock the alt. ending.... and find ultama! (in 9 of course)

=p pwnd =p
I thought 9 was well done, the story was kick ass, and the FMVs pushed the lil old 32 bit PlayStation to its limits. When Final Fantasy IX came out, the PS2 was out already, i think square made the game a little to powerful for the PS1 so the PS2 could take advantage of it a lil more. Not a problem though.
*Alive-Man gets hit with Meteor for so much damage the PS2 can't calculate it and explodes into a firey mass hitting Spirits Within and X-2 In teh FACE*
As a great man once said... Zing!
In all of my many experiences through FF9 i have never found Ultima. Besides there is not another slot in Vivi's black magic list for UltimaQuote:

I wonder if he'll ever come back
My guess is a no.
Shut up...
Haha, the sad part is you probably thought that would work...
You guys can stop talking about Alive-Man, and keep talking about FFIX, and just FFIX. That would be uber cool.
I still don't like this game. The battle system just completely ruined it for me. I couldn't take it.
And what, pray tell, was wrong with the battle system?
The only thing that I can think of is Auto-Regen was really easy to abuse. The fourth character, set jobs, damage limitation and the Trance system were all vast improvements over the previous FF games.
I thought the battle system was pretty straightforward, especially if you've played other ff games. SOme of the stupid side quests like getting the mini statues and the coffee were kinda dumb, but whatever.
Grrrr
If you knew what was good for you, you'd never say you hate that game again.
Like eestlinc said, it was straightforward. Except I didn't like that. I thought it was boring. I actually liked the Junction system. :D
I agree if you want to hate a game hate ffx-2
If you've allready hated it
hate ff8
THE BATTLE SYSTEM WAS CRAP!
AgreedQuote:

The storyline was kinda hazy. A lot of the time you were wandering about the world, most of the events you did, didnt really have much relevance to the climax of the game and the purpose of the game. Occasionally I looked back at points in the game and thought "What the hell am i doing here anyway?" at times the game went off tangent. But in the end I felt that ffix didn't have that spark that made me want to continue playing the game. The other final fantasies caught me, captivated me, and lead me on with both the battles and the storyline, whereas in FFIX I really had to force myself to play it, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy playing it, but...you know
lets face it, FFX-2 was waaaaaaaay to girly. While the idea of class change system during the fight made the fight scenes faster and more action filled, the characters were pretty cool (rikku was AWESOME, but I couldn't stand Yuna by the end of it) It was too superhero girl-power and at times it felt like the three heroes of the game weren't really taking the fate of the world seriously. and the fact that all this trouble sprouted about by a guy loving a girl was SUCH A LETDOWN!!!!!!! After hearing his whole sob story all you wanna do is punch him in the face and yell "Get over it!"Quote:

Yeah... This game was never good...:p
And I suppose X2 was better?
I don't think you could go that far, but I think X-2 was quite awesome!
The list goes:
1.FF9
2.FF8
3.FFX
4.FFX-2

FFVII should be at the top of everyone's list, but FFIX was good. BTW why open a thread like this in a FFIX forum? The answer is attention, this guy just wants attention. Eventhough I do agree that a lot of things sucked from this game, it was still a great game, especially the ending.
"FFVII should be at the top of everyone's list"
thats BS why do you want everyone to be the same?
so close minded
i loved 9 i thought it was a great game
one of my faves
You got it all wrong... I suck at it, the only reason why I'm almost at Terra is because my cousin helped me! And I'm under-leveled!!! And it's my favourite game. So, NYA!!!!! *Sticks her tongue out*
I like FFIX
I would put it at #3 on my favourite Final Fantasies list
I have a few problems with it though.
Zidane has a tail....why? Really, the tail sucks!
Some of the areas I had to go to bothered me, the one with the candles got so boring and repetative.
I just didn't have any memorable moments from this game like I did with FFVII, FFVIII and currently FFX. I guess I couldn't relate to the characters as much as I could with with FF games.
Oh well, I still loved the game and Bahamut looked way cool as he always does.
Good addition to the series, deserves its place in the FF line.
Erm, what? I agree with the first one... butQuote:

RaidenWeb, I did beat the game. Maybe I can't remember though, its been a long time since I beat it.
Kuja was cool because he was so evil, but it took me a while to realize he was a guy. At least they went back to the Silver Hair = Evil thing :P
The trance system is easily the worst limit system on the next gen consoles. The fact that it takes ages to charge is bad enough, then the fact that you have no control over when it triggers is just stupid. Add that to the fact that some characters Trance modes were pretty useless, and yeah. It sucked.Quote:

I hate this game with a passion. Apart from horrid memories of spending a summer watching an ex complete it, I hated the characters. He nicknamed me Eiko for f**ks sake...Glad thats over with!
I hated the bad guy cause he wasnt one. Kuja scares me as much as a moth does...and thats very little. Zidane annoyed me going on and on about women and at one point he felt Garnets arse (when they are climbing up into an airship)! Vibi annoyed me being miserable and questioning life. Steiner never shut up, Freya is in a never ending cycle of love depression, Eiko is a bossy boots and Quina is...well its Quina! Nuff said!
The battle system with trance got old pretty quick, the OST didnt make me feel passionate about the game and the character design was...bizzare and far from realistic. Fair enough its a game, but horns, strange Quina things and tails I cant be bothered handling.
I honestly liked FFX-2 for its gameplay, its battle system, and the 'Eternity' song. FFIX is pretty fun to play although it was a little straightforward for me and the frequency of random battles are SUPER annoying. I hate how slow the battles are, and I absolutely loathe the trance system. The story didn't really intrigue me enough, it seems like something was missing. The things I adore about IX are the graphics and Chocobo Hot and Cold. Maybe more.
I would rank the Final Fantasy games in order of: 1.VIII 2.VII 3.X 4.IX, and VII is not overrated it had the best villian and 2nd best hero, and it had a great storyline and it WAS popular enough to spawn countless spin offs, IX was good but it was less mature than I like Final Fantasy games to be, its still better than the 16 bit generation of games, sorry crossblades...
I must agree that FF9 was a horrible excuse for a Final Fantasy. It took all the things that make FF great and screwed them up. The characters were poorly designed and other than Vivi I didnt really connect with them enough to care about them because they were so uninteresting. The story was horrible,(SPOILER) i remember something about Zidane being a cyborg (i think) and i forgot the rest because it was so boring. The Trance system was a crappy rip off of 7's limits because you couldnt control when they happened and plus half of the characters Trance modes were useless anyway. The music... was good, best part of the game. Oh and they comepletly whrecked the card game, in 8 it was fun but then in 9 they added a bunch of crap that made no sense and a bad tutorial for it which lead me to never play cards except when necesary completly opposite of 8 where i tried to play everyone i could. Oh and last but not least an end boss (SPOILER)that just showed up comepletly out of the blue, i mean for the whole game you think Kuja is the big baddy like Sephiroth and Ultimecia but then you go and pawn his butt in a couple of turns and then here comes this big blue dude talking about killing everything, WHAT THE HECK!
So all in all the game was crap. It cant stand up to 7, 8, X, or even 6, and 5.
I also didnt like X-2 but i really liked The Spirits Within and if you pay attention it actually is more closely related to the FF series than you might think.
Oh and before you say i hate it because i suck at the game, I beat it and got all the weapons in the game and did all the sidequests except Ozma and did all the chocobo hot and cold stuff (which was really boring). So i didnt suck at the game it was just a bad game.
I personally like the character designs (except Steiner), but that's fair enough if they're not your cup of tea. I'm sure a lot of other people appreciate them too.Quote:

Well that's fair enough, i'd just return a game I didn't like.
I would suggest playing the older ff games to appreciate ff9 more, but it seems like you have already.
You shall burn in hell...
uh... i already played FF9 so hell will be a cakewalk.
yeah i like the early games too except 1 and 2 and 9 actually reminds me of 6 in the way that their worlds are really fantasy based but they also have this sort of emerging sense of technology.
Also another thing i hated about 9 was how your party was always being switched around, i know it was part of the story but it happened just too much.
IX wasnt that bad, I mean the character designs probably would turn some people off if they were final fantasy regulars, the whole pigmy monkey was weird, also the animal people were weird, looked like something outta a Richard Scary book, all in all it was fun to me, Zidane was a cocky little theif which wasnt all that bad, and their were some alright complimentary characters like Amarant, and if you didnt like zidane you didnt have to have him in your party, unlike in X when you were stuck listening to Tidus whine, but I agree it wasnt on par with VIII and VII which had more mature themes, another drawback or a plus to some people was it was easy as hell.
I know your pissed about this game Omnislash but that is no excuse to say that spirits Within was a good movie, why make a movie and put a Final Fantasy title on it, you could say from the creators of Final fantasy but dont make people believe it is in the same universe as Final Fantasy experience. i heard somewhere that Square was reeling for a long time because of the flop of this movie.
I'm confused to whether this thread is talking about IX or X-2, considering some people are obsessively bringing it up. Seriously, I'm sure that are hundreds and hundreds of people that hate this game more than any one else here, but don't resort to bash it like some members posting in this thread. Saying that I like IX and X-2. I have no least favorite FFs. I think the only FF that sucks is Mystic Question, but that's a different story and different game.
What!? The graphics in FFIX were perfect, a little less than FFVIII's but that's because FFVIII's was beyond perfect. The gameplay was pretty good. Nit as linear as FFVII's but good. Story was great. Music was horrible compared to the other FF games. Overall a good game...

5- Great, Square rips itself off. Trance is NOT a "crappy rip off" from Limit. Limit yuou sue only once. Trance, you use until the gauge becomes empty. You can kick serious ass by having 2~4 turns of Trance. And the only useless Trance is Freya's, because it's damage looks SO random.

And, hey, he actually managed to destroy Terra and the crystal. Sephiroth couldn't even destroy the planet with a meteor.
9- FFIX can stand and be better than most of the FFs you listed. And why 'even 6"? FFVI is the best FF ever. It is better than just about every RPG that I played. It has the best villain ever. o_o
10- ...why did you do all the Chocobo Hot and Cold mini-game if it was SO boring? "I want to get my money's worth" is NOT a reason, because I initially HATED this mini-game, and didn't even care about it, and still though that the game was worth of my money.

My spider sense is tingling... maybe you like Chocobo Hot and Cold after all... >DDD
1. yeah i know as i stated above these are all just people opinions i know that, you don't have to tell me
2. actually in my opinion they did screw up...hardcore
3. me completely hating the look of the characters is a good reason to hate a game because if i don't like the characters then I'm not gonna be able to get into the game
4. the fact that i forgot the story is proof of how bad it is. i know the entire storyline to 6,7,8, and 10. why because they had good stories
5. i didn't mean the company ripped itself off i meant that since the games have different designers, artists,...etc. that the team from 9 ripped the trance system from the team that did 7 with the limit system. Oh and Freya's Trance is actually good the useless ones in my opinion were more like Garnets which was completely useless after you got the Pumice Piece and while it is true that limit was only used once per charge the gauge filled up way faster so sometimes you could get more than one limit in a battle if you were fighting a strong enemy. It is also true that while tranced you can kick major ass but the only time i ever tranced was against normal enemies and i can take them easy enough already. I never tranced against a boss which kind of defeats the purpose of having it in my opinion.
6. We agree...for once
7. You like the game and yet you call it confusing...if i am gonna play a card game i want to fully understand the rules before i play instead of just laying down a card and hoping it wins.
8. Necron didn't have back story. He was stuck in a crystal, the crystal broke, he tried to kill you...thats it. Ultimecia had back story, she was the one controlling Edea when she went on her rampage, she took control of Rinoa, you actually knew about her before you fought her. She didn't just pop up like Necron. The only reason Kuja succeeded in destroying Terra was because the characters in 9 were all idiots and Sephiroth failed because Cloud and company weren't retarded like Zidane.
9. Well that was my opinion, i don't think 5 and 6 can stand up to the newer RPGs but they were still way better than 9. And Kefka was retarded.
10. Doing the chocobo crap was the only way to get a lot of good weapons and items, that is why i did it...not because i actually like a game where i go around digging holes in a forest.
11. LEARN TO USE SPELL CHECK GENIUS.
Kuja succeeded in destroying Terra because he was powerful enough to, and could do it right there on the spot. At the time, the ff9 party could do nothing to stop himQuote:

It may suprise you but i do actually like the SW movie, I even bought it on DVD. It makes me mad when people say it wasnt in the FF universe because that is just stupid. Sure it didnt have swords or magic...big deal. It still had the life stream and guns arent exacltly a new addition to the FF world. Sure the movie was more Sci-Fi than Fantasy but that was the direction that Square was kinda moving in with 7 and 8. I wanna know how many people who bash the movie actually saw it and how many saw that it didnt have any of the FF characters in it and didnt even take a second look at the movie.Quote:
I know your pissed about this game Omnislash but that is no excuse to say that spirits Within was a good movie, why make a movie and put a Final Fantasy title on it, you could say from the creators of Final fantasy but dont make people believe it is in the same universe as Final Fantasy experience. i heard somewhere that Square was reeling for a long time because of the flop of this movie.
I like guns in Fantasy games, I like the guns in Advent Children, i actually saw the movie like 4 times, it airs alot on the Sci Fi channel, this wasnt in the Final fantasy universe, it was set it our world, their base or whatever was in New New York city or something like that, no Final Fantasy game has ever been set in our world, also it didnt feel like Final Fantasy, it felt like a James Cameron movie, admit it, it was made for the casual american movie goer and was meant to show off squares technology, it had no bases in the Final Fantasy universe.
Actually it was just extremely loosely tied to the Final Fantasy Universe.
Examples: There was a Lifestream and they were trying to capture the essence or spirits trapped inside of different things kind of like the crystals containing the essences of Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth in the early Final Fantasy games. Also while it was set on Earth it wasn't exactly the same Earth because we obviusly don't have a Lifestream. So the movie is loosely tied to the games but anyway this is a thread about Hating FF9 not TSW so lets just leave it at that.
I guess its just a matter of personal preference. :) If you want a really challenging game, go find something else. But since it was pretty easy for the most part, you could enjoy the story and the characters a bit more. I liked it because through most of the game it was just fun and light-hearted. Nice change of pace after something dark and angsty like FF7 (not that I have anything against that game. Just saying...).
Great jumping jilicas! I made a thread with loads of replies without even realising it!
FF9 took my babies.
FFIX > FFVIII...in terms of...likeable characters, fantasy elements.
Good game, LOVED the moogles, but, it never seemed to me like an outstanding game.
I think you achieved your purpose for making this thread...Quote:

Why are people bashing Quina? She/he is the greatest Blue Mage ever made. And FFIX IS THE BEST FF game eva.

8- Necron HAS backstory, if you look for it hard enough. Ultimecia didn't have ANY; why does she want to compress time? Why in the smurfing hell she wants to be the only one in the whole universe? She DOES poop out of nowhere. And can you think a way that Zidane and the others could stop Trance Kuja's Ultima (that is much stronger than FFVII/FFVIII's "crap" Ultima)?

10- And talk to a shadow in a lake, or find a ressearch center IN THE smurfING MIDDLE OF NOWHERE is so good. And there is A LOT of good weapons without Hot and Cold. Excalibur can cause more damage than Ragnarok if you equip things that strengthen Holy.
11- Oh please, don't talk to me like this, you type just as badly as I typed >_>'''
"Ultimecia is an extremely evil sorceress from the future who can reach across time using a special machine to possess other sorceresses and manipulate them. Her ultimate goal is to create a phenomenon called "Time Compression,a phenomenon in which she brings all times together to allow her to become "a living god" that is incapable of dying, thus defying the fate of her predecessors." You can find this on wikipedia (basically she wanted to absorb the power of every sorceress that had ever existed).
Necron was kind of weird, he just shows up, and not like he was uber powerful or something, it was like wam bam he's dead. Kuja was a pretty cool villian, and they did explain why Zidane had a tail, but in a world full of animal people it wasnt that weird for him to have a tail. I liked IX, like I said before most people didnt like it because of less adult themes, but no matter how many times I try to go back in my mind and say I didnt like it I cant, it was extremely fun, the waltz' were very cool bosses, and the FMV's were done very well. I liked Vivi's and Steiners trances but Zidanes left something to be desired.
I think VIII had a horrible style of battle. Everyone in the whole group could use Cure or Fire, which is to me, wrong. I hated the Junction system (which I still don't get), and the characters are too uninteresting to care.
Non-Rpg players Rpg.
Huh?
The Junction is easy to get. You just junction the highest quantity of a magic to strength and youre done. Or you can just select the "auto" option.
I said it is often pegged as the non-RPG players RPG, a person who wouldnt regularly play FF would pick up this game and be satisfied.Quote:
Huh?
Which one? VIII or IX? Becausemy brother is a non-RPG player, maybe I could get him into one.
VIII, IX is the classic RPG experience, VIII is more Sci Fi oriented, and I find it kind of cool that they abolished the class system in VIII, It was my first FF game, and its still my favorite FF game.
That's funny; my first was VIII as well, except I hated it. Then I got X, which was pretty good, then Kingdom Hearts (loved it), Tactics Advance (cool), and finally IX. IX is my baby.
Yeah, I like Kingdoms Hearts battle system, but I dont want my friends walking in on me playing a game were Goofy and Donald Duck are constantly on screen, my friend had tactics for his GBA but I never played it, he was stingy, and I beat IX after VIII, VII and X their after. I didnt like RPG's until a chance encounter with VIII, my cousin bought it at a blockbuster used for like 10 bucks, we played and both fell for RPG's after that.

3. I didnt just dislike their looks i also disliked their personalities
4. I have better things to remember than stupid storylines that i hate
5. Okay lets use an analogy to explain this because i dont think you get it. Lets pretend that you are in school and you have to write a paper, you write an awesome paper (Limit Breaks) and then your friend copies your paper but makes some adjustments to it to try and make it better than yours but it actually sucks (Trance)...understand?
Oh and if you get the Pumice Peice you can teach Garnet an ability that makes the Eidolons show up every time she summons so yeah her Trance is rendered comepletly useless.
7. Confusing but good? Yeah and i love to play poker but i have no clue how to play it either.
8.SoulTaker handled this one for me
9. If all i cared about was graphics then why am i saying that FF7 is awesome? wouldnt i be think that FFX was the greatest thing since the wheel. Plus 9 has way better graphics than 5 and 6 put together but i still hate 9. And dont get me wrong i love most of the older games but i just like the newer ones better.
10. Actually i thought the research center was easy to find (course i just liked to fly the Ragnarok around cause it was awesome). True there are more powerful weapons but if you do the Hot and Cold crap you can get some powerful stuff before you have access to the uber weapons like the Excalibur and Ultimate Weapon.
Even though Necron was random, he was more interesting then Ultimecia.
Haven't the foggiest clue as to why I really prefer him.
Your drunk thats why. Kuja should have ended the game not Necron, he just shows up and is weak. Ultimecia would stomp you if you didnt have the necessary gear to fight her. It's been like 3 years since I've played IX but I think I was at like level 50 when I beat it, and it felt as though I could have been at level 15, I still enjoyed it anyway.
yeah ive actually lost to Ultimecia before. True it was like the first time i ever fought her but still i lost and i didnt lose to Necron the one time i fought him.
I love this topic. Full of people expecting to accept their opinion as fact. -_-;
Yeah, I lost to Ultimecia my first time too, but Necron wow was he easy, all I remember from that fight was that he was pissed about some crystal then i smashed him.:smash:Quote:

this is my favourite FF and the first one I played (they always say the first time is the best).
The only three things that sucked about this game were:
1. the ending- necron was just wtf?.
2. the out of proportion characters.
3. the ice cavern.
Okay, he is weak and easy, but Ultimecia is much easier. I defeat her using Bio -_-''' and magic in this game is crap, out of junctions -___-Quote:

This works really well since i usually get Squall's Lionheart on Disc 2 and I have all of Zell's move written down for easy access to the finishers and I always have plenty of ammo for Irvine. So anymore Ultimecia is pretty easily ecspecially if i use the Hero item on all my party members but she was hard the first time or two unlike Necron.
What are ur people's problem?!
FF9 is a final fantasy! If squaresoft thought it sucked then they wouldn't have made it!
Did you like TSW because most people hated it and that was made by Square so that blows your "Square doesnt release anything bad" idea all to hell. Plus i hear all the time how much people hated 9, 8, 7, TA, and ecspecially X-2 so dont tell me that every game or movie that Square makes is awesome because some of them arent.
Really?! No Sherlock. The name "Final Fantasy" in the games damm title doesnt send off any flares?!Quote:

Yeah it has the FF title to it? So what, they dont always have success releases. Look at TSW or FFUlimited.
No Square cant tell the future Im afraid, so they didnt know if it would be a hit or not.Quote:

That's very true..
Fun game but fun diminishes later on... garnet is not very likeable compared to Yuna from FFX, rinoa in 8 and aeris/th in 7 but its still a decent game
i didnt like the trance system
i didnt like the abilities system
i didnt like some of the chars
still a decent game
I loved everything about this game: the abilities, magic system, trances, and especially Quina and Freya.
FF IX is pretty awesome. It was the second Final Fantasy I played!
Square wouldn't have made the game if they thought it sucked!
Yeah, you already said something stupid like that before, so dont even bother finishing your sentence, and please quit double posting
EDIT:quit triple posting, use the edit/delete button
[leeza]When did you become a Mod? Stop moderating. ~ Leeza[/leeza]
It wasnt double or triple lol it was quadruple posting O_O... but your point is retarded... come on square made X-2 and TSW and you mean to tell me they dont suck ~.^
the only thing that disturbed me was zidanes tail -.-' tho the rest was better :)!
I dont think it was really necissary for Garnet / Dagger / Sara to be so hot yet zidane look like a monkey... just my opinion
Dude! did u even look at the story behind the tail?! And im not saying that square makes things that suck. i'm sayin that ppl are overanalyzing every game. Adn in my opinion (which is what you put on forums!) those games don't suck!
Also, I didn't mean to post over and over. My internet was on the fritz.
Yes, like someone already said earlier, don't double post. Just edit your post. Don't even double post to explain that you didn't mean to double post. ;P -kikimm
I don't think they consider "fritzing" a decent reason, Heero.
Anyway, the only thing I don't like about FFIX is the trance system. Holy hell that's random, but it makes much more sense in a logical mindset than the limit break/despiration attacks found in FFVIII.
Quina was disgusting, I made every attempt possible to not have that creature in my party, the game was already a bit childish in that i mean lacking mature themes with all the dr suess people running around why did they add that goofy thing., Freya was okay her dragon moves were cool, but she was a bit to whiny and depressed.Quote:

1. Kuja's thong
2. Quina
3. Trance system
As for Necron, yeah that was weird. I kinda liked it though, I defeat Kuja and then Necron shows up. Completely unexpected! I like his battle theme too.
Yeah, some things are annoying, but I loved the game. It had WAY better characters than FF7. Each character had a distinct and charming personality and thats what made the game enjoyable for me.
yeah, there were many aspects of the game that made it enjoyable for all. it was a different theme and mood than VII and VIII. it kind of brought u away from the serious issues that were covvered in those 2 games.
Finally you say something that makes sense and I totally agree with you and Noj_R I love Necron's battle theme. It's cool to beat up on him while listening to screams in the background
I second that! :DQuote:

I like OWA, but I like The extreme better, was much more epic in my mind. But then again FF8 is my fave...:D
Final fantasy 9 is a great game. The storyline is good and it effect are cool. You cannot comlaint or do anything to hate it because everyone have its own favourite game so respect it eventhough it's not your favourite. Respect everyone and everyone respect you.
Hohohohohohohohohohohoh.........
If your light mage then I'll be black mage. I just like vivi and his magic (sadly he don't have Ultima:() (I never use guidebook to win any RPG game because it was fun to try on your own not by others helping)
FF IX is my fave(i've probably already said that in an earlier post), but yes the boss theme favoritism is all opinion, and I like FFIX the same way as how many others like a certain FF game. It brought me into the RPG genre and was my first FF game. I know this sounds redundant since everyone else is saying the same thing, but I just wanted to add what i had to say.
Ever heard of a game called Final Fantasy X-2? lolQuote:

Actually i have played all of them cept for Mystic Quest, the GB Legends, and the original FF3 that was only released in Japan. Other than that i have played them all and ive beaten 4-10 and Tactics.
Wow, I am totally tired of people putting down this game. My friends know what I'm talking about cause I yell in their faces if they say something. Initially he's freaked out, asking whats a guy in his late twenties, soon to start a teaching career doing watching charlie brown on DVD? I asked him if he ever saw this particular special, and his negative reply caused me to ask him to sit down, and watch as I finished watching it. his opinion was slightly dour until the key scene, where linus busts out Luke: 2: 8-15 to explain to charlie brown what was Xmas all about. After that scene, he was a speechless as the cast in the show, and when it was over was asking me if he could borrow the DVD afterwards. Which he did after watching Advent Children (and incidentally didnt ask about borrowing the AC DVD when he left).
Point of that anecdote is that it doesn't matter what you play or watch, its the quality of the storyline and plot (in tv shows and mostly in RPG's) that will win people over. If Kingdom hearts had a mature storyline (which, Im of the opinion that it did not) it would have been cool to let your friends see you playing it, no matter who starred in it.
As for Final Fantasy IX, I have to wonder what people are talking about when they accuse the story of being for the younger set. we got Vivi, who is all but a year or so old having to deal with slavery, the bleakness of an existence where he was created to kill, and also having to do with his rapidly expiring mortality. If that's not some thought provoking material I don't know what was. Also I would remind you that the script does involve the point that as a BABY Dagger's horn was cut off just so she would be presentable to the royal court. which the script alludes too would have been like cutting off a toe or finger. Sure the creatures and characters were all very fantastical, but to call the script itself juvenile due to the look of some of the character designs is rather shallow. Lighthearted and humorous at times, but never juvenile. Hell, even Zidane got all self destructive when he realized the true nature of his being created. Seeing the main character openly considering suicide like that I thought was a really interesting development considering his happy go lucky attitude and can-do spirit for most of the game.
Yah, FFIX is my fave FF for PS1. Its Amano's FF swansong (I love the guys character designs and am looking forward to seeing his mistwalker stuff) and it was Sakaguchi's only PS1 work. Some parts of the story irked me, I would have liked to see freya and her amnesiac ex work out some of their issues instead of having the ending cinema just show em together. Aramant I felt was slightly underused as well. But the rest of the cast were great and very deep and likeable, the romance with steiner and beatrix had me rolling and I thought they made a much better couple than either cloud and Tifa, or Squall and Rinoa. I dont mind odd couples, but there has to be a better reason for them to get together other than nice knockers (tifa/Rinoa)/big sword, ripped off and pimped out kaneda's bike (cloud) /wears mascera damn well (who do you think?).
FF IX was the least "mature" of VII,VIII,IX and X, and at first glance it would look like something on Nick Jr, It was a good game nonetheless and I liked it alot, but wasnt on par with VIII,VII and X just by the way I like my games to be.
Zidane was a pimp and I liked how he would repeatedly try to get at Dagger, which was a good change from the withdrawn nature of Squall and Cloud, I like withdrawn hard characters but to repeat this would get boring, they over did it with Tidus though. In terms of romance I would go VIII best ending in the history of FF, and it was very emotional too, you felt it, X Tidus was whack but even the miniscule sensitivity in me felt bad in the end, ruining the ending with X-2, I blame TSW because Square i heard needed to cash in fast to get the cash to stay afloat, IX and VII are tied, VII had a decent love triangle with Tifa and Aeris but it could ahve been done better, and IX just ended to quickly for me, I wanted a little more(Zidanes breakdown at the end should have lasted longer).
I bought KH for my little sister for her birthday and it was more fun watching her play then playing it myself, I would beat the hard bosses for her but it was more like a disney movie in my eyes, perfect for a girl her age. It had a good feel, and a battle system I wish FF would use becuase it would be awesome to control Cloud in real time, nice little game, i'll get her KH2 as well.
Well I dont think 7 was really supposed to have a big romance story, other than Cloud and Aeris. The triangle between Tifa, Cloud, and Aeris didnt last very long and it was pretty apparent pretty soon in the game that it was really just Cloud and Aeris. The story in 7 was supposed to be about revenge against Sephiroth and Clouds struggle to find out who he really was. Besides it kinda have a romance when the girl dies.
I was whining? Sorry didnt notice... And yes it is true FF9 has more fleshed out characters than FF7 ( more experience within the game design team at square and a helluva stronger jap -> eng translation helps alot here ).Quote:

I agree with you on FF8 having best ending, it wrapped everything up perfectly. No plot holes, or loose ends, the ending felt very solid...Quote:

Besides, you cant beat the awesome "messenger of ruin" or "final battle" songs, some of the best battle music in any FF ( if not THE best )...
I thought FF7 was the most kiddish one Ive played. Some of the dialogue was very cheesy and the characters act like little kids too sometimes ( and no, i dont think it was the chibi models either ).
