That's fantastic. How long did it take you to do?
I don't think I have the kind of patience required to do Origami.
Your designs are always awesome, Doc.
Can you make a tommy gun?
Hah! That's fantastic. :D
Very much agreed.Quote:

About an hour to fold. About a half hour to make the paper.

It's not really "my" design, I just followed the directions someone else wrote in a book. I will be happy if I can someday invent my own stuff.
I can't make a gun, but someone apparently can.

Well, only if you're a huge origami nerd. I make it by sticking two sheets of tissue paper onto some aluminum foil, because it's good for making complex models (it's really thin and folds easily, and it's easy to pose/sculpt once you're done).
But you can use any paper. Art stores sell origami paper pretty cheap, like $10 for 50-100 sheets. The chocobo could be made from almost any paper though.

You need to install Japanese language support or something, if you use Windows. Linux and OS X don't seem to have that problem though, strangely enough. Being able to see it properly doesn't help unless you speak Japanese anyways of course... I just went by the picture, my Japanese isn't too good.
*double post to post my unicorn instead of making a new thread*
You are really good, Doc.....Do you have intentions of making a moogle or PuPu?
Nice. :)
Is that unicorn made from one piece of paper?
Wow they're amazing. :D

You are origami god.
whoa, those are really good! i have no attention span, so i probably wouldn't do so well...*cries* mrrrr. man, wouldn't that Bahamut be, like.....uber tough? i mean, DAMN. *gives up thinking about it and puts up christmas tree*....yay.
thats so cool!!!
unfortunately, i have the attention span of a fish xD
I'ma going to sound like an idiot for asking this, but how do you understand the picture? it just looks like a whole lot of lines on a square of paper to me..
Well, you can recognize the large shape on the bottom right as a Bird Base. The toes on the top-right and bottom-left are standard 22.5-45-67.5 degree crimping. Even with a good knowledge of origami, folding from a crease pattern isn't very easy. The crease pattern doesn't even give you a completed model, it only gives you a base. If you really want good easy directions on how to make the chocobo it'd be better to buy the book.
 YOU ARE TOO GOOD FOR WORDS DR. UNNE!
is it in english?
"Works of Satoshi KAMIYA" is in Japanese and English. Most books by that publisher (ones I have, anyways) are only in Japanese, so it's actually a bit of a rare treat.
That is Awsome!
i cant see the chocobo, when i click on the link it doesnt work
I can see it. It's attached.
This is pretty much thread necromancy. Old threads should not be revived.
For 99% of threads, this is true. Dr Unne's art/origami threads are an exception to this rule. :)
Haha, paper chocobo. Isn't that neat.
Hi
your URL link doesn't work !
can you give us again the instructions to make a chocobo origami ?
thank you for your reply !
That's amazing.
Reviving dead threads.... Forum police will bust you !!!
My husband made me the Chocobo and a paper Bahamut. I'll ask him for the link, I think he still has it.
wow i wish i could do that!<3
Lol if origamis were as easy as they look! But just to make a little box it takes so long :(
Dude that chocobo is most triumphant! :D My friend does Origami, she takes classes. Never done it, I have small hands though. ^__^
i know i might be late... but the link no longer works, can someone (who has saved it) send me the 'how to file' pls
I don't know if you can read origami instructions in japanese, but it's still around onthat site in some form xD
‚¿‚у`ƒ‡ƒRƒ{ / Chocobo
lol thanks, but japanese isnt the issue (i still cant read japanese thought) with that website. Isnt there a web that shows step by step instructions to make it
I went to a japanese workshop and we had an origami lesson and our teacher told us in Youtube there are some pretty good tutorials :D Myabe you'd like to check:)
yeah i checked... couldnt find a chocobo one (only about a guy showing his hand made one)
That's brilliant! You are truly talented.
