I got a playstation 2. Then i saw a commercial for X-2, so i rented X just to try it. Then later i found out a friend was playing the game as well. then later he lent me FF7. Thats how it all began.
i watched my brother play FFVI on super nintendo when the game was called FFIII. I thought the game had amazing music and an incredible story line to it so then i wanted to play it, then he had 7 on his computer and then i bought a mini ps1 because i didnt have enough money for a regular one and i really wanted to play FFVII and the guy who was selling me the consol gave me the game aswell. and then yea...i got addicted.
My friend used to bring around his playstation whenever he came to my place, one of the games he would always play was FFVII. Later on he brought with him VIII and then IX. Then I finally got a PSX and borrowed VIII off another friend, thus ending in me getting my own copy. Loved Final Fantasy ever since.
When I was five my dad got me FFIV for the SNES.
Exciting.
A good friend of mine was into FF3 and many NES/SNES RPGs. He got me interested in Zelda games, Lufia 2, and Illusion of Gaia. When he got a Playstation and FF7, I was hooked. I got the PC version about the day it came out in the US.
A couple of friends were talking about FFVIII way back in primary school, and I played the demo, after that I bought FFVIII haven't regretted that since.
I bought the original FF when it came out on NES and I've played every one that been released here since. Now if I could only figure out a way to play FFVII on the psp.
I was given FFX as a gift a few years ago, and in less than a year I played most of the series.
It was when FF7 came out on playstation and my dad bought it and I thought Id play it! *lol* n I loved it.. so I played the rest
Earthbound--> Super Mario RPG--> All FF before FFVII--> FFX--> FFX-2-->Remaining FF titles
A friend of mine who was going on 50 at the time had piles of RPGs. I used to go over to her place if I was sick from school (we were family friends). And then we started having game days where we would rent a snes rpg and try to beat it. But yeah, at first, like most people, I was intimidated by the menus and the fact that world map went on and on! Of course, it didn't really, that was just 'cause the games I played befpre unrealistically made the world a squuare that didn't wrap-around. lol. FF6 was the first I played, then 4, which I didn't beat since I wasn't that good at them back then. After that, it's a blur of a lot of games. congrats to all those that have loved it since the beginning. If I had been older than one year old at the time, I'm sure I'd have been there since the beginning. But yeah. Props! lol
I was in 6th Grade in 1998. I just became close friends with someone. I had Chrono Trigger at the time. He wanted to borrow it, so I told him to lend me one of his SNES games. He handed FF IV(known as FF II at the time)to me. At first I was bored with it, then his best file got deleted somehow. I told him I was keep his game for a little while longer until I get the file the way he had it before. As I kept playing the game, I was getting into it. The more I played it, the more fun I had with it. After I finished the game, I returned it to him with a file that was a little better than his. Few weeks later, went to Kmart and I saw a used copy of FF VI(known as FF III at the time)It was cheap too. I thought to myself "Hey look. another FF game. Maybe it will be as good as the other one." So I bought it. I went home to play it and I was very pleased it. From that point on, I started to keep track of every FF game that was released and bought it. In other words, FF IV and VI got me into FFs and those two games will always be my top 2 favorites because of it.:D
i had just bought a psx and my we were going video game shopping
and my sister told me of some good games and one of the games she said was FFVIII
and from then on i loved her more ever since
My brother got FF7 after he had gotten his PSX, so I decided to try it out.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............. i dunno
I wanted to see the series that inspired so much hentai. :p
Actually, it was word of mouth mostly. I'd heard of FF and people were telling me how great FF7 was, as it had just came out. So I bought it.
Probably some yaoi lemons I read and ''pictures'' I saw of the characters through the net.
My mom.
When I was 4, she would being playing FFII/IV and FFIII/VI (and FFI also, but it broke... >.>) and I'd watch her play, and started playing it myself, though, I was 4, so I had some trouble with it, which is why my mom never let me play a FF before she beat it until a little later in the series, I'd always ask her for help. When I was about 5 or 6, I think I pretty much stopped asking though, didn't really need it anymore. xD But yeah, I've been playing it since I was 4, and will probably be playing it until I die. Sad, isn't it?
You don't start Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy starts you. ;)
Don't you mean play, Stac? :o
Anyway, my brother's friend introduced me to FF, then my bro introduced me to it, so yeah. My brother pretty much got me into the FF games.
...Either way. T_TQuote:

People at WoFS would talk about it in 2000 and 2001, and kellilla drew a lot of fanart (I remember tifa mostly, and quistis), so I was like "wtp are these characters?" Then during Christmas of 2001 I asked my friend matt who played a lot of video games what it was about, exactly.
He told me that 'it's about a bunch of people who try to save teh world, basically. But they're different worlds each time." and gave me the snes roms to find out for myself.
I loved ff5 so much that around september of the following year, I got my parents to rent a ps2 + ffx from hastings, and fell in love with it. I remember the first time turning it on, my parents were all ":O Man technology makes some realistic stuff these days!"
When I was young I needed a way to get away from the fact that my mom was abusing drugs. Going outside was never an option because I lived in a terrible area in Los Angeles.
I got a PS2 for Kingdom Hearts and the FF characters kinda provoked me for them (Cloud and Leon, of course!) and then FFX-2 came out, so I got it like a week later, and then we went to the pawn shop and we saw Final Fantasy VII, so we got it for $7.99, and then the next week, they had FF8, so...yeah xD We had to go buy FF9 4 times!
I don't remember anymore, even though it hasn't been that long. I think I was...thinking about how I liked The Spirits Within (since I saw it before I played any of the games), and decided to check out the games. VIII was the one I picked and boom now I'm here.
Final Fantasy VI, which was called Final Fantasy III at the time.
my bros mate told my bro he got ff8 many years ago like 1999 then i played em all ff7 next finished 1 to 10-2 so far and got 11 not bad i love the damn games
My mum's friend's lesbian partner gave me the demo disk (FF8) - then I borrowed her copy of FF8....had it for over 6 months before I finally gave it back...
I guess it destroyed any chance of being homophobic in me - another reason to play FF! :D
I got into it after a VERY FORMER friend bought IX. I tried it and got hooked after playing VIII.
I just saw my friend play the game and I got into it too.:p
My brother and my cousins used to play Final Fantasy all the time. And whenever they were done playing, they gave their games to me. All my FF games are hand me downs.
On the back of some game manual there was an ad for X-2, I thought the yuna was cute so I purchased FFX, then I got FFX-2, then I got a deal for FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX, and I downloaded some roms for the NES and SNES ones..
I saw someone played FF8 in a rental shop, i thought: "that looks interesting."
my bro got me started shode me everything there is to know about rpgs and alout of the stuff he told me helped alot, before he shode me however i dident even know how to equip a wepon to a charecter.
i was like 6 and my grandma bought us a ninteno. final fantasy was among the games she bought us with it and i played US2, US3, 7, and 8... and 11, but the 3d one's dont have the same draw to me.
I was 12 or something and went to my friend's house across the street. I ring his doorbell and he yells from his window I cant come out I've been playing this game for 3 days straight. I was thinking Crash badicoot or Tony Hawk (what we normally played) and so i went up to his room and just watched him play FF9. After he beat it I borrowed it and beat it and have loved ever since. When i bought my PS2 my mom got me FF8 and the guide, my friend gave me FF7, i bought FFX when I had a job and X-2 soon after. Now im 15 and my mom is worried why i still play my GBA for FF1 and 2. I love FF.
Well, a lot of things. I had got kingdom hearts, and i loved it, so i played it for a while. One time i was at Blockbuster, and i couldn't find a game. My mom had to come in to help just because it was taking so long. she said "Isnt that like your Kingdom Hearts game?" pointing at FFX-2, and i said, yeah.
Also, before this, my friend was playing the game, and he was all tellin me about the game, i thought it was so cool, and i wanted to go over hs house and play it.
The last thing, and something i regret, matured and got over.... sorta, was that the girls were just hot lol.
most of us think that....Quote:

The funny / sad thing is that I started playing 2-3 days before last years Tsunami. I had just seen the scene at Kilika where Sin's giant wave comes into shore on Kilika's tropical village. Then the Tsunami was in all news stations, tropical islands and beaches hit by giant waves. Eeerie!
For Christmas 1997 I was bought a PSX and Final Fantasy VII and I've progressed from there.
my friend bought ffx-2 and i went to eb games and saw ffx-2 was was disgusted by the back cover so i bought ff9 lmao than kh
