Pink Floyd Thread for non Pink Floyd fans

Before Pink Floyd released their hugely succesful Dark Side of The Moon Album, they asked certain people this question:

"What does the Phrase Dark Side Of The Moon mean to you"

so what does it mean to you, im asking mainly non PF fans because they will probably have a better answer.

Dark side of the moon? Could mean.......Dark side to people?

It's the part of you that no one ever sees.

It's the part of the moon that always faces away from the earth!

The Dark Side of the Moon means that it is actually the sun's father and is using force pull to keep earth in orbit

yes, although you are a PF fan.

I like them in the respect that they are one of the first groups to successfully integrate Noise in their music through sampling. I'm refering to that one song that with that sample that goes something like "collect call for Mr. Floyd" and keep going *beep beep, beep beep, beep beep, beep beep* until the song fades (name please, anyone? Heard it on the radio last week...)

To me, as a Pink Floyd megafan, it means the things that we know are there, but would rather avoid and not celebrate.

But Leeza's answer makes a lot of sense to me as well.

It either means something deep and meaningful, like something about the dark mysteriousness of life, or is about astronauts being caught in moon-night and being frozen into cool ice sculptures.

Taking what you usually percieve, and then attempting to show the complete opposite. Also something about a wizard, a wicked witch and flying monkeys.
