Do you mother your pet? I think I do. Not intentially, but I think there's a "mothering" instinct in all of us and I think it comes naturally. So?

Yes, hold my cat like a baby, and I call my dog my honey. I love them, and I guess I mother the cat more than anything.

We all do have a "maternal" instinct in all of us. It comes out when necessary. When I was pregnant with my son, I had no idea what to do, or how to handle anything. As soon as he was born, I knew when he was hungry, what was upsetting him, everything. I think that men have a similiar "paternal" instinct,for lack of a better word. It might take a little more work than Mommie's, but its just as good.... :)

nah, i don't see myself as a "maternal figure". i'm as close as a care-taker to the menagerie. the hamster and the two cats, they're really part of the family to begin with. the resident goldfish in my room has took the last of my free space...

Then you should show it that cuddles are essential by showing them some nice food and only giving it to them once they have a cuddle.

It depends. See, my dad and my younger sister absolutely SPOIL our dogs and it drives me insane, because they beg now. They didn't beg before Daddy and Sarah started feeding them peanutbutter crackers :mad:

But I pet them and hug them and lay with them and spoil them that way,yes.

All the pets ive ever had to tame quickly learned that if they are nice to me they get nice treats. Its never taken me more than five days to tame a pet thats aggressive towards me by using nice food to convince it to love me. So you may have to endure a few scratches or bites but in the end it will all be worth it.... unless you've got a pet lion or something that is.

I don't think I mother my pets. Everyone else in the family does, I just mainly think they're on the way.

I repeatedly pick up my 85 lb. dog, throw him up in the air, and catch him, all while singing to him.

I can't say I mother them, but I do play with them a lot. My mom really mothers my dog, and my dad does the same with the cat. I try to keep them active by playing with them.

The cat poops on the floor too much and the dog is too dumb for me to be able to always be real cutesy with them.

I do mother my dog, but I can't cuddle him very often anymore. He's just too old and he smells. I do bath him, but he's got that old age smell.
