I love this song. "Dumb" by Nirvana in the album In Utero. Great album. This is one of my favorite songs in the whole album. Who else likes it??

If anyone says it...I will be very angry. :mad2:
Stay on topic. Yes, I love Nirvana and I like the song. It's one of my favs. :cat:
I've never heard the song before but now that I know it exists I have to listen to it because I like Nirvana.
I'm not a big fan of "I'm dumb"
I'm more of a fan "My name is Bryan"
While these songs are vastly different in most ways I'm sure we like them for the same reasons.
dammit Leeza.
Im downloading it now.
It's one of the worst on a great album. "Dumb" is typical emo before it was called emo. I really don't like it, because it taps into poor lyrics and self-hating beahvior: None of which should be encouraged.
What do you think??Quote:

I like thta song but it makes me sad.
When my little ferrets died I listened to the greatest hits (or whatever) album. The whole thing twice. It was so miserable that it made me feel a little better (because at least at some point somebody somewhere felt worse than I did then :) ). By the time it came to dumb I was falling asleep and feeling pretty bad. Its always the song that makes me think back to it.
'Where did you sleep last night' would do the same but upon hearing that I'm more concerned about stabbing my ears in to get away from the sound, not silly memory.
If I was depressed and listened to Nirvana I'd feel even worse.
Only if you're stupid enough to interpret it that way.Quote:

It's hard to compare a instrumental music composer such as Bach to a rock band as Nirvana, Nik0...
hahahahaha damn right it is!Quote:

I always thought Dumb was about bliss in ignorance. It's a pretty direct song.
None of Nirvana's songs glorified self-hatred.
...but sometimes those same words cry out in my mind. but it's more like a rhetorical question.
Some of the song titles sure look like they do, though. I mean, "I hate myself and I want to die"?Quote:

yeah, thats one of my favourite songs by them :)
The title of that song seems more like a joke than actual self hatred.Quote:

Yeah!! Why did you have to go Cobain!? WHY!!!!! And another good Nirvana song is "Heart Shaped Box". Best on that album...
I prefer Heart shaped box to dumb, but both are good. :)
Heart Shaped box is probably my favourite Nirvana song. It beats teen Spirit, it seems far more original (although Teen Spirit is still very good, it's just a bit over-hyped).
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a little over the edge and too hardcore...
It was a joke. Kurt Cobain said so in his journal, which was published.Quote:

While we're talking about Nirvana, has anyone got Sliver; The Best of the Box?
No. I saw it at the mall yesterday in FYE. I bought 2 other CDs...
My friends brother has that. I like to touch it for long ammounts of time and pretend I own it.Quote:

Of course, he made it pretty clear he hated the majority of his audience. It's shown in Teen Spirit for one thing.
