I also tend to lean towards cavemen 'cause they've got that whole animalness going on. Astronauts might hesitate, thinking of consequences of their actions. Cavemen would just be balls-out crazy, beating everyone.
I'm an astronaut in my spare time so obviously I'm leaning towards that. Although if I saw an opening for the position of caveman, I'd certainly apply.

I think id have to pick astronauts over cavemen, because cavemen are dumb and ugly.

Astronauts are pioneers of the ultimate caliber, risking their lives on a few inches of metal and some mathematicians down on Earth. And hell, I'd jump at the chance to go into space, no matter the odds. I'd likely go if I had a 0% chance of returning alive.
I would not, however, go into a cave with such odds. Indeed I tend to actively avoid caves, them being populated with such unpleasantries as spiders, dark, damp, moss, bats, and yes - cavemen.
Astronauts. Cosmonauts, too. Taikonauts are 20th century legend! CHINA HAVE GIANT ROBOT, AND SOON, BASE ON MOON!
