Final Fantasy Challenges Official Thread

Give me the FF challeges you know and I'll list them here with the objective and all. People can come by from time to time and try the challenges themsleves and they can use this as like a little cattolog. If there are FF games that are not here but you know a challenge of then just post it and I'll edit this. I might even try these myself but those will be in other threads. Thank you come again...

Final Fantasy One Class Party Beat the game with a party of all characters of one class.
Single Character Challenge Kill all of your party members except for one. Through out the whole game do not revive your dead party members and finish the game with that one left character.
Final Fantasy II Beginner Challenge FF2 Keep initial equipment through out the whole game and try to be as low on stats as possible. How? Run from all battles when possible...
Final Fantasy III Mini Challenge Keep all of your characters stats at mini through out the whole game. Warning; This challenge is extremely limited.
Onion Knight Challenge Finish the game with all of your characters class set to Onion Knight.
Set Class Challenge Beat the first part of the game then when you have your starter classes, change them to which ever way you want and never change them through out the whole game. This is a challenge to prevent boredism.
Solo Challenge Finish the game with one character. They may be whatever class and may change.
Final Fantasy IV Initial Weapon Challenge Beat the game with no equipment other then the initial weapon.
Solo Cecil Challenge Finish the game with the character 'Cecil'. You may not use the other characters other then to kill themselves.
Final Fantasy V No Equipment Challenge Unequip your characters. No 2 special abilities selected. Never the use of the ability "X-Fight". Samurai class is banned in this challenge. Side note; Bonus challenge is to defeat Shin-ryu and Omega this same way.
Bare Class Challenge Finish the game with the starting class/job (The Bare class).
Final Fantasy VI Beginner Challenge FF6 Bassically through out the whole game use initial equipment with the use of espers banned.
Low-Level Challenge Beat this game in the lowest levels possible. Tip; Try running from every battle when possible.
Final Fantasy VII Beginner Challenge FF7/ SCIENM Mode Beat the game with only one character. How? Kill the others. Finish the game with initial equipment. Also the use of materia is not allowed.
Khaotic's Challenge Finish the game without using any materia other than 'Enemy Skill'. Cannot upgrade weapons, accesories, etc. Stay with initial equipment.
Low-Level Challenge Run from every battle possible and finish the game at the lowest level possible.
Final Fantasy VIII Ultimate Test Beat the game while using initial weapons. No card refining allowed. You are not allowed to draw from foes, for magic or GF's. You may draw from draw points, but only draw points. NO junctions are allowed, other than commands. Selphie's limit "The End" is banned. Side note; Bonus challenge is defeating Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon through these rules.
Final Fantasy IX Level 1 Ozma Challenge Defeat Ozma while all of your characters at level one. Tips; This is done by running away from enemis or by petrifying/ stopping enemies. They will give you no EXP this way, just AP.
Final Fantasy X NSGIENC Finish the game with the use of no square grid, Initial equipment & no custimization. (Whatever the hell that means)
Final Fantasy X-2 IDS Challenge Finish the game with all of the characters set with their initial dress sphere.

There are tons of challenges on the gamefaqs site. I can't direct link them, but they're pretty easy to find.

FFI: All characters of one class. Example: All White Mages.
FFV: Beginning class the entire game.
FFVI: Beat WoR with just Celes, Edgar and Setzer.
FFVII: No materia.
FFVIII: Fight with only GFs.
FFIX: Fight Ozma with a level 1 party.

FFVIII - no junction

FFIV:
This is very simpel. As soon as the game begin, unequip everything but the weapons. Now, beat the games without armour, helmet, accesory and sheild. Also you won't change the weapons, the characters will have their start weapons.



FFV:
1) Unequipp all your characters and NEVER equip them again. No armours, no weapons and no relic’s trough the whole game.
2) The "ability" command in the menu that allows you to equip 2 special abilities to your characters is not allowed to be used trough the whole game. Thanks to the ability thing, you're allowed to have a knight equiped with black mage spells etc. However... since it's not allowed you'll have to be a black mage to use black magic, be a blue mage to be able to use blue magic etc. Also, you won't be able to equip abilities like X-Fight. Also, the Samurai class is banned because of “Gil Toss” which can make some battles far too easy.

Also, beating Shinryuu and Omega this way is an insanely hard bonus challange.



FFVI:
A pretty cool challenge is beating the game with initial equipment and no espers.

An even better and more challenging way, however, is the low-level FFVI challange where you beat the game at the lowest possible level. Necro made a thread about this challange a looooooooooong time ago. If want all the details on how to do this, search for and find that thread.



FFVII:
Solo character, initial equipment and no materia, nuff said. :cool:

Also, beating Emerald and/or Ruby without Materia is a fun "one battle only" challange. And no... extreme amounts of powerup-sources should NOT be used on your characters before doing this challange.



FFVIII:
All characters may only use their initial weapons trough the whole game. Cards are not allowed to be refined into items and you are not allowed to draw from enemies or bosses (neither GF's or Magic). You are only allowed to draw from drawpoints. And finally... you are only allowed to junction "Command Abilities" such as "mad rush", "darkside", "magic", items" and "GF's" etc. All other forms of junctioning are banned. No magic junctioning to boost stats and not even those 20%str and Auto-protect things are allowed. Only commands.

Also, beating Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon this way is a super cool and hard bonus challenge.

note: "The End" is obiviously banned.



FFIX:
Level 1 Ozma is strongly recomended. Look at Nik's thread for details if you need.



FFX:
Ask Necronopticous... because he got the by far coolest FFX challange ever. :cool:



I got no challanges for FFI, FFII and FFIII since I've never felt like replaying FFI, never felt like replaying FFII and never ever played FFIII at all.



Hardest game challange: FFVI low-level. Necro's FFX challange is probably even tougher, though. I STILL haven't tried it out. There's always some other game that I'll have to play trough that's getting in the way, and my next challange which I'll start on right after the SSBM tourney, will be a Xenosaga challange. Oh well... SOMEDAY I WILL DO YOUR FFX CHALLANGE, NECRO!!!

Easiest game challange: FFV no equipment and no abilities.


Hardest singel battle challange: FFV challange VS Shinryuu, hands down. It even beats no materia Ruby.

Easiest singel battle challange: No materia VS Emerald Weapon.

THESE are my favorite ones

FFI- single character (any enemy that can paralyze you, means you're screwed)
FFII- Run from all regular battles, don't buy anything
FFIII- Play mini the entire time.... basically magic only and considering it's so limited
FFIV- All the stuff that's been said, plus all attackers must be in back row, and magic users in front row
FFV- No jobs
FFVI- Beating the game with the 3 characters
FFVII- Play with one character til you get the counter attack materia, that is the only materia you can use, you may not use the attack command after you get the materia!
FFVIII- No GFs so no junctions

Those are the only games I've really done challenges

dude, you lost all respect in my book.
Just because they haven't done it, and what makes them the best? I've done alot of challenges, I just don't go around on this forum telling everyone. I've probably done all the ones they have, or at least most of em. I've beaten each game more ways and times than I can even remember.

Stop being judgemental, and why would you ask people for challenges if you're not going to take them unless Ultima or Necro has done it, wouldn't that make this thread pointless?

As an addition to the aforementioned FFIV challenge, refrain from using Magic/Summons or Spell-inducing items.

I started this, but eventually became bored of leveling and only using Attack. That's the problem with most challenges, they just get boring after a while.

I couldn't possibly agree more.

Seriously, crash... the fact that I'm known to be a challenge-freak doesn't mean that others can't do what I've managed to do. For example, Trumpet Thief has done most of my challenges... but we discussed them trough PM most of the time, which means nobody really got to know about all of TT's accomplishments.

Besides, I have yet to show any proofs that I've actually done all these challenges. I'll try to make some videos in the near future, if possible, though. But so far, I don't have any actual "proof". So there's no reason for anyone to not belive ljkkjlcm9 when he says that he have completed the game only using the counter materia. It's a completely possible challenge, so I really don't see the problem. I'd never do that challenge myself, though, since it (no offense to ljkkjlcm9) sounds pretty boring to only be able to defeat enemies by counter-attacking.

Of course, I like to call myself "teh 0ber r0x0rz" whenever I've done something that no one else around here have managed to do. And I DO like to laugh at people who belives, for example, that Omega Weapon in FFVIII and Sephiroth in KH are impossible. But the fact that I easily can beat these guys while some other people can't beat them at all doesn't mean that I'm better at these games than everyone else. :greenie:

Yeah, that's why you shouldn't ban the use of Magic and Summons. Being able to use magic makes the challenge much easier, but atleast you won't be bored to death. And as long as you don't power-level, you should be at a big enough dissadvantage to make it a really tough challenge. The point with making challenges is to make them fun and challenging, not just challenging. That's why the FFVIII challange is one of my fav challenges even though it's the second easiest. It was so fun to play FFVIII as a pretty hard game for once, without ruining all the fun in the game by only allowing normal Attacks and Limmitbreaks, which would have made it really, really boring.


Final note: I love challenges, but the reason I'm known for this is not because I'm "the best", but rather because I love to tell people about my accomplishments and brag about them. :p

FFIX's No Equipment Challenge. Not as ahrd as Lv1 Ozma, but hey, in this one you can't even SEE Ozma without dying. xD

FFVIII's No Guardian Force Challenge. No GF at all. Abandon them in a asylum. XD

FFIX's No Sphere Grid Challenge. And all of its variants. Remember, No Sphere Grid/Initial Equipment/No Customization is almost impossible (I mean, did you see Sanctuary Kepper's fight at Necro's thread? O_O), and it does get impossible in Seymour Omnis, as Necronopticous discovered.

ffv with only one selected job per character which you cannot change throughout the entire game. if you want a job which doesnt appear until the fourth crystal, that character should remain a bare until then. Second abilities can be added but remember you are learning only one class so theres no mixing abilities with other classes. Samurai's are forbidden :)


or just for fun you can do quick fun challenges which are not designed for a lot of thought. Beating x-death with only physical attacks, a team of white mages, a team of blue mages or if you like a team of dancers or chemists :)

It's not my problem you won't spread your talent. And maybe I am being a little too naive but they have done more then you can imagine. And I would add that challenge but it's too hard for the average amount of players...

it's really not hard at all, probably easier than others, just kinda boring like Ultima said, but i have the game on my laptop and can play and do other things at the same time, the main reason I have done it

It's not about spreading my talent, how does telling everyone here make me anymore talented? I just don't talk about it to everyone on the forum, but all my real friends interested in FF know what i've done, and that's typically enough. I've gotten all sorts of nicknames from them, mainly when it comes to games in general it's Coinmaster (referring to arcades, but they mean games in general) So remember, just because everyone here doesn't talk about what they've done, doesn't mean they haven't done a lot.

And its not even 100% talent. Most of these challenges consist of pure dumb luck and patience in order to complete them. I mean, how much talent does it take to complete this challenge from FFVII?

No Materia, IE, No Items, Solo. None, since all you can do is push the X button. I guess you can count patience as a talent.

Anyway, personally I find challenges to be pointless. I used to do these things all the time when I was younger, now I see them as time of my life wasted.

the point of a challenge is to enjoy it. it certainly was pointless if you didn't enjoy them. and tbh i think you picked the wrong challenges if you didnt enjoy them

No one ever mentioned "no items". Without items, the challange would be completely pointless... and it probably wouldn't be possible to beat this challange without the use of items anyways. :greenie:

FFVIII Challenge: play the game without the 'draw' or 'magic' command. you may use 'card' and 'card mod(only from monster cards'), with the result of cards being refined into magic or items to be used under the 'item' command. Junctioning is disallowed on the left hand side of the junction screen, (str,hp,vit,mag,spr). however luck, evade, speed and hit are available. weapon refineing is allowed also.
heres the obsticales; finish game without the use of a g/f(excluding odin),
no other commands can be used other than 'item'(other than Card), such examples like (mad rush, revive, recover).
'The End' is not allowed, nor is Selphies limit break, as that deals magic from a cast and not from a stone or item.
Elemental and status junctioning is disallowed.
You cannot put abilities such as mag+20 or spr+20 into the gf ability list, however you can put in abilities such as spd+20(and all other add-ons that are only on the right side.)
last but not least, you have to run from every battle, excluding boss fights obviously, and you can donate your hard earned AP to such things as Diablos's Enc-None etc.
Keep in mind that limit breaks such as Quistis's Blue Magic can use various magic to help you out, Irvines ammo, rinoas angelo etc.
everything else is allowed.
i haven't tried another challenge so i dunno if this ranks as being hard or easy in terms of how difficult challenges go around here.:confused:

I dont see whats so fun about running from pretty much every fight (LLG). Or limiting yourself to only pushing the X button. They added the magic system, summon system, item system, etc. To the game for a reason. Without it the games are pretty boring.

I was just using it as an example. If you go over to the gamefaqs message boards, there are probably people who claim to have completed this.

Getting through the game without getting board enough to throw it out the window. Havn't managed to do it yet. And to you people that have, i salute you

Final Fantasy X-2: Initial Dress Sphere Challenge

Leave the girls in the dress sphere they start out with, the exception being when Yuna is forced to change to Songstress at the beginning of the game. Just change her back as soon as possible in that fight (if you can, if not then right afterward). Bonus challenge, clear the Via Infinito with this setup.

Note: Except for a few battles throughout the game where magic would really come in handy and the Via Infinito, I can imagine this would only make the game moderately challenging, but still.

Get 100% in one go. No new game plus or anything

Is that possible, cause dont you get point for giving the sphere to New Yevon and points for giving the sphere to Youth League and you needs all those percentage points to get 100% right? I am not sure, because I only played through it once. The initial dresssphere challenge has gotten me thinking about it, though

That'd be good but things such as one go challenges aren't that much on par. They'll get tiresome..

you don't need nw game plus to get 100%. When you get the choice, you choose the youth league, beacuse there is a secret sidequest you can only get form them.

Doesn't matter. If it's a challenge of beat the game in one setting then it'sno challenge at all...
