Guessing that Hillary Clinton and John McCain are the leading candidates who would you vote for if the 2008 elections were held today?
I cant decide, I dont usually like Republicans but I like McCain for some reason, McCain is very moderate, so moderate in fact that he was rumored to be a running mate with John Kerry, but Bush propaganda put a end to that.
Hillary is wife to the greatest president ever, so she gets points for that.

Getting a little ahead of ourselves here...I wouldn't put money on either of those being the main party nominees in 2008. I think you should focus on the 2006 EoFF Elections first. Look for those in a week or so.

...why does everyone hate Hillary so much? I have never understood that. She's Bill's wife; surely her policies can't be that different from his, can they? Bill Clinton was fantastic (imho! :D). So..?

Hillary is pretty insane, and it's most likely only a matter of time before one of her wacky comments turns off a ton of people and dooms her eligibility for candidacy the same way Dean's shot was ended the instant he let out the Dean Scream. And even if that doesn't happen, the Democratic Party isn't in a strong enough position to rationally attempt to put forth such an avant-garde candidate as a woman. They're hurting so bad that they need to play it safe and pander to the mainstream if they want to stand a chance.
I'm pretty sure I'm down with McCain. It'd be pretty all right if he were to run again.
Mcain Seems better than bush, that gives him a few points.
Actually McCain is a very real possibility, he is viewed as the leading candidate in the next primary, the Republicans are loosing a foot hold in this country, and they need a candidate that is very popular with everyone, tax cuts for people making under 70,000 a year and voted against biulding an aircraft carrier instead using the money to 12,000 enlisted families on food stamps. Not very Republicy if you ask me. Im excited because I see a light at the end of the tunnel for this country no matter if a Dem or Rep wins. Anybody but Bush.Quote:

Anyways, I don't know, because I don't know much about either of them. However, given Clinton's attitude towards videogames, she's not got a lot of my support right now. Having said that, it would at least be a new thing to have a woman president.

I'd vote for Hillary Clinton.
Technically I'm Canadian but since we just elected in a Conservative Government I won't be too surprised when we actually do become the newest state.
I'd probably choose Hillary because from what I'm aware of she's brought about great positive change in NY and if anyone can fix that [img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img] hole up then that reason enough for me to vote.
I'd also like to see a female president.
Speaking of female presidents there were 3 female presidents elected into presidency (or the equivalent there of) in the world pretty darn recently.
Chile, Zambia .... and... Australia? (I'm guessing with Australia but I think that's so.)

Barak Obama, Democratic Senator (more moderate really) from Illinois.
If he ran, I'm positive that he would win. He's an electrifying speaker, is very political and has a great sense of governing prowess as well as a sense to do what the people need rather than what they or his party want. He's simply amazing
If Hillary ran, I don't know. Women are very catty and I really don't want her to get ticked off and start nuking other countries for saying she has bad hair.
Seriously though, Hillary isn't a bad person, or a bad politician. I don't see why nobody likes her. Sure, she may be more liberal than others, but she's not all that bad. A lot of her policies actually make sense, could work, and could save on a fiscal budget, however, she has NOTHING on Barak Obama.
Lots of names being thrown out and the odd accusation of a candidate being crazy. I guess it's not surprising that Bush won last time if this is how you guys let each other know about candidates. ;) I'd be interested in knowing if there are any actual, you know, policies that a candidate would win you over with or something. Rather than "Dude, he's crazy!"

Anyway, Hillary hasn't really initiated much policy change for NY. The city cleanup was initiated by Guliani throughout his mayoral career and is now carried on by Bloomberg. I'm sure Clinton has done a lot to help maintain the level of peace the city has, but I wouldn't go so far as attributing it all to her. She keeps her eyes mainly on the national level.
I would not vote for Hillary Clinton for the presidency, because I don't believe any of her policies are really her own, nor do I believe she's her own woman. She's constructed herself into a bizarre extremist based around many of societies negative stereotypes of the independent, strong woman, and has basically ended up a bitch. The only credit I can give to her is her ability to stand strong during a time of terrible public embarrassment.
I would vote for McCain because his past policies (of fiscal conservativism and social liberalism) are those closest to what I believe a country, any country, needs in order to thrive.
I like Oprah.
But more the presidency I like McCain more. Dude is funny.

The Dean Scream is one example I often cite of how the corporatocracy destroys anyone who opposes it. However, it very well may have made him unelectable, and it is for this reason that he is not my top choice. (I also believe he's doing far more good as DNC chair than he would as president, anyway, but we'll see whether I'm right in November).
And Hillary Clinton is definitely not an extremist. In fact, I would strongly question the liberality of anyone who supports putting restrictions on video game sales, as Hillary does.
