Im not trying to sound rude, but why should I donate.
I have been thinking of, but thus, I would like to know what my money would go towards.
Feedback would be appreciated.

I had no idea I was the 12624 person to sign up on this site.
The money goes to Cid and the insane parties he throws. He doesn't put any money into the site's bills, infact, he forgets to do it! A real wonder of how this site is still up.
The reason we're raising money has been very clearly mentioned, I thought.
There is a piece of software that we think would add a fair bit to the site.
It is a gallery software and it is intended to be used for a Fan Art Gallery. I forget what all B0B said it would do, but it would make uploading fanart easy for users, and quicker to see, as they only need be approved, and not necessitating all the trouble uploading and recoding pages would call for.
The catch is that something so insanely cool is also insanely expensive, and it would seem that there is no free [beer or money] alternative, so we're doing this fundraiser:]
I'm surprised all the people who post in the artists forum haven't jumped on this;.; They're obviously all callous fools who hold grudges against the html monkeys we have and want to put them through grueling coding agony!
It takes a lot of resources to keep this place up and running. Cid isn't made of money.
In the past, I've never once seen Cid ask for donations unless the ad banners failed to generate enough income to pay for the site. And even then, he rarely has ever asked for donations. Keeping a site like this running costs a lot; don't write it off so lightly.Quote:

Plus, donation isn't at all required. We're offering a bit of a perk for giving us money so we can boost the art portion of this site. I don't see any problems with that. It's really no obligation at all. Just something you can do if you want to.
Cid's parties are paid for by people bringing stuff to contribute. I always at least bring some drinks and games, sometimes chips.
I thought I was joking Sam :(
I didn't realize.Quote:

the fan art, I've seen and all 20 of them aren't any good, I go somewhere else for fan art.
Hence, we're doing an overhaul. If I understand the software correctly, you'd be able to rate the images and then sort by ratings, or by artist, meaning that you could view only images that are to your standards should you wish to keep it to that. It would be like the Artist's Gallery forum with many improvements.
That's the point. Updating is such a hassle that no one has done it in years.Quote:

Just like Jimmy.
Poor Jimmy.
Did anyone here even check source forge?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/apokgallery
That looks like what you are looking for and it is FREE.
We've live-tested at least 3-4 different free galleries already. I think that might have been one of them, too. Not sure since there's no real examples shown that I can see, also that one looks like it's still in development? And the development started in ...2003?
The software we're intending on using is fully functional, has a huge variety of features and can fully integrate into vBulletin. The details are found here: http://www.photopost.com/
I don't think the one you've mentioned has the support or amount of features we're really looking for.
That one was just an example. There are tons of other ones. Of course anything free isn't going to be as great as something you pay for(or so it would seem in this case) but development of any piece of software never stops. If it did stop then you would only need version 1.0 as your final end all release :D
I was just mainly checking to see if you guys had gone out to see and test free stuff first as I don't recall having that mentioned.
What's the link to donate ?Quote:

Sepho, Spatvark, Samuraid, Rye, Unne and myself all worked on the last one we tried and we had it tested by artists, too, such as Doofhull and Unne. Still no luck, though. Looking at how many features this has and the fact that it's designed in the same fashion as vBulletin, I think this is exactly what we're after.
EDIT: Renmiri, please see the announcements for details. The link is in them as well. :)
We surely wouldn't just jump to buying a 129 dollar piece of software without trying out other alternatives first.
It's in stage 1 (development) meaning that they may not even have a single line of code written yet. We would only consider it if it were in RC or Final development stage.Quote:

In that case we won't give you enough credit to listen to your suggestions. :)Quote:

Don't worry. Its not like I have every really agree with much of what you have done and the same goes vis-versa. It is what makes the relationship so great :kiss:Quote:

See BoB? All you needed to do was whine about it. It's the way to get things done on the internet.
This is the comical part of my post where I'd whine about getting something done on EoFF that I'd enjoy, only I can't really think of anything. Oh wait, I know...Sora! for admin!
I think the main thing I needed to do was let people know that now you can do in a gift kind of way for other users. That got more people interested. That, and the whining.
That's it. I'm not saying anymore jokes for the rest of the time I'm at EoFF. Well, hopefully not the same joke.Quote:

People still take me seriously from time to time, so you're pretty much screwed.Quote:
