For many us, there are people we meet, celebrities we discover, or famous writers, philosophers and thinkers, etc., who inspire us in some form or another. People who make us look at things from a different, often new perspective, or affect our lives by the good (or bad) examples they give us.
Who is / are your role model / models?
More importantly... Why?
It can be anyone, even your next door neighbour.
I shall post a list later, when I have the time. :)
Id have to say my role model is my grandpa. He was there to teach me everything a boy should learn growing up since my dad was either working or partying.
chaos: I've got to tell you, there are two. The first is Mick Foley. His story on getting to the top of the wrestling business is the exact same of what I want to happen to me, and he's a great man.
Rubedo: And the second is Loony Bob. I swear I am not kidding. The guy works hard on EOFF, stands up for the newbies, and who wrote the 2004 Ciddies with a broken hand. That's dedication. In fact, it reminds me of something Kurt Angle would say.

I have no rolemodels, I think it's a fake way to live, your trying to be someone else but isn't it best to be yourself?
My role model is myself. I try to do my best in whatever I set my mind to. I find the inspiration within myself. Sorry if that sounds completely corny and a little inappropriate, but I inspire myself to do the best I can. :)Quote:

I currently don't have any. I don't know if that's because of my age, or if there's noone that currently fits the role.

-Patch Addams (he's a real guy, not just in the movie)

-Micheal Moore (Bowling for Columbine, Farenheit 9/11)
And a Nirvana Fan has a point, but one doesn't need to be exactly like the people, they just inspire you.

I look up to my step dad (my real dad sucks, didn't pay child support), and for drawing abilities my friend Gina. She is really good. If only she knew about Final Fantasy... Or Disgaea...

Pretty much everyone in my family is a role model for me, specifically my parents and grandparents. They're the coolest people on the face of the planet. Each one is caring, understanding, wise, funny and close. If I take after them then I've done pretty darn well for myself. :)
I have a few role models, my Nan for one, just because she was so strong, and Tobi Vail (drummer for Bikini Kill) a strong female in a totally different way.
Dean Koontz: Being a writer myself, it's only natural there had to be another writer who has influenced me heavily. Some of you may have heard of him, he's a fairly famous author, though he's an incredibly private man by nature.
I've found Dean Koontz has a knack for giving a level of humanity to his characters that is sorely lacking from the works of many modern writers. Many of his characters have very flawed personalities, though there are often incredibly unique individuals. There are no butch male heroes, no weak damsels in distress, or villians with empty motivations trying to take over the world (just for the fun of it), in his stories.
It's this kind of "human" feeling that I can only hope to give to the characters in my own writing.
Undoubtably, no writer has influenced me more than he has.
I think I have every one of Dean's books. He's my fav. :)
I don't really have/had any role models. Maybe my grandmother because she was a very strong woman. :cat:
