The problem with bad anime is in order for it to be lisenced over here it still has to be at least HALF decent.
That being said, Haibane Renmei and Gasaraki are pretty bad.

I'd have to go with Samurai Showdown. Crying Freeman might have actually been worse, but it was so bad it was hilarious, whereas Samurai Showdown was just abysmally stupid and pathetic.

Fist of the North Star is probably flat out the worst anime I've ever seen. However, post-Pokemon League Pokemon is personally the worst and most depressing anime ever since that show was so incredible before they destroyed everything it ever achieved as a series.

For all the raves and praises and demands to see it I had thrown in my face over it, I'd have to say Neon Genesis Evangelion, even though Neon Genesis Evangelion is not a bad anime (and worth sitting through just to see The End of Evangelion alone). It's just terrible in comparison to all the praise it gets.
The single worst series I can remember sitting through and afterward saying "I want my wasted time back" would have to be Steel Angel Kurumi 2.0. That series was such crap, and especially made me mad after the first Steel Angel Kurumi was such a lovable series.
FLCL takes the cake.

Based on the ideals of using religious propaganda in a government already corrurpted by power. It did have it's kiddish times, but I have yet to see an anime that would go off about compressing the oxygen in the air to create a spark with a hydrogen atom to create a blast.

The "kiddish" aspect of FMA comes in with the attempt at humor. Ed flying off the handle into a superdeformed fangy-face every time someone mentions his size, etc.
I forgot about Ninja Ressurection. It was so bad it got cancelled after two episodes, before a story could even be established. :p
Most anime does have that humorous aspect, and while a lot of people enjoy it it can get old. Be that as it may I find FMA to be on the whole an excellent anime with a great deal of good plot behind it.
As far as worst anime, let's see... we were watching an anime awhile back for the ADV Advocates (they send us a free DVD with a few episodes and a crapload of trailers every month) and while the anime appeared to have some sort of plot, it was hard to focus on the plot because they completely overdid the breasts. There were way too many females in the area and all of the females had breasts that were impossibly large, even by the standards of many anime. They also jiggled unrealistically and grotesquely whenever they moved.
So yes. That was bad.

Zatch Bell, Bobobobobobob (or however you spell it), Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, english dubbing of Naruto (they took out all the good parts! :( ), and probably inuyasha (it's an ok show even though it's a little boring)

Definitely the 15 minute Chrono Trigger OAV. There's nothing more boring than watching a nu and his little Puar+Bubbles looking friend talk about nothing for 15 minutes.
I thought One Piece was crap. It just bugged the hell out of me when I watched it with my friend.
I quite enjoy both FMA and NGE. I can see why people don't like them. I'm still miffed about my friend's argument against NGE, though. He didn't like it because it didn't have a happy ending. Lame.

As I mentioned before, I found FMA getting boring very quickly. Maybe if it wasnt that big a series, many may not have gotten bored of it. Its like Naturo, Yu-Gi-Oh, Inuyasha, One Piece, etc, goes on to long and gets boring fast.

Having just returned from Sakura Con this weekend, I must say that there were way more Bleach characters than Naruto characters. I was amazed. And rather pleased.

FMA is not boring it has a cast of over 56 characters how can it be boring, and they made it long so you could see Edward more cause (SPOILER)he has to die of course instead of Wimry or somebody else, and they also had to make it long because of the story line if it was shorter it would be less dramtic

I do this cause I cant watch loads of anime in a day cause I have other things to do. The series could have been shorter and still have been dramatic. Hellsing ran for 13 episodes and was very dramatic and covered alot of ground in just 13 25 minute episodes.

Well, the first Ghost in the Shell movie is one of my favorites (nostalgic (just like with Kenshin): i first saw it when i was 12, so^^). The thing about it though is the huge difference between the comic and the cartoons, though (humor:p ), but might i ask, what didn't you like about it? ^_^
