i cant appreciate this game for it fails in terms of graphics and gameplay maybe if i had played this game 10 years ago it would have been great

graphics doesnt make a game good it would be like saying halo is great (wich is the greatest lie ever) and theres nothing wrong with the gameplay it the same as al other ff's with its own tough in it

Yes, graphics have little to do with the quality of the game. They're for aethetic purposes, yes they can be amazing, but if you're using them to judge a game you're going to miss out on a lot.
Reasons VI is great? Well for one it had an amazing story. Very involved, and the further you went the more you learned, the more you wanted to learn. The characters were simply amazing (minus of course the less developed ones like Umaro and Gogo, but they were cool regardless), and in general it was just a fun game to play.
And yes, Kefka did have a laugh. You may be shocked to learn that voice acting did not begin with this generation of consoles, or even the previous one. Just as Sega Genesis had the 'Sega' voice at the beginning of every game, many games had voice acting. Tales of Phantasia for the SNES even has a full vocal song as well as a large amount of in-battle voice acting.

You know, I will never understand how a FFVII fan could possibly care about graphics. The graphics in FFVII aren’t just bad; they are downright deplorable. I would take FFVI’s fantastic 2D graphics over FFVII terrible 3D graphics any day.

Kefka and his one liners were a huge plus.
To be honest, I don't really like realistic graphics. 2D all the way! But the reason I liked FFVI was, well, about anything. Great Story, awesome characters (Celes, Terra, Edgar, Locke, Cyan <3), The game play was good too, and the game has the most awesome and calming Marching through the snow. And Cefca does too have a laugh... Its "Uwaa hahah hahahah haa!" I call him Cefca because Cefca is cooler than Kefka. Cefca cusses, same with Celes.. Japanese all the way.
What's to say? FFVI sucks.

FFVI is one fo the best games of the FF series.

Yeah okay, the graphics suck, but consider this: it was made several years ago, on a console that is 2 generations old.
Or: the lack of good/detailed graphics forces you to use your imagination. That way, you will never be disappointed, because you imagine things as YOU would have them while you go through the game.
Yes, and the best villian ever... Kefka. If you ever compared this game to anything else, everything would lose (except most other FFs). It has everything, love, humor, even the illegitimate child, grilled to perfection in one wholesome game. And add to that, one quality no 3-D game could ever recapture for many years: charm.
FF6 is my favourite or VERY close second favourite of the old series (old series being 1-6.) it has a brilliant cast of characters who all have quite good personalitys. the music is some of the best and kefka is a very good enemy. the storyline and the ways things happen are so interesting and although the first part of the game is realy fun the seconds good because of all the freedom. "searching for friends" has got to be one of the most emotional FF tunes and the boss battle tune is one of the best. has anyone heard the black mages version of the FF6 boss tune? its brilliant! FF6 isnt my favourite (in fact i never completed it because the disk broke.) but its far from the worst. these are my top 5 FFs.
1. FF9
2. FF8
i dont know which i like better out of FF7, FF6 and FF4 but they are the other 3 on my top 5.
does anyone know if FF6 will be remade for GBA because its pretty hard to find a good copy of FF6.

Yes, the PS load times were pretty bad. You may wanna try playing a rom of the SNES version, but you seem extremely biased towards the graphics so I wouldnt waste my time if I were you, but again you're going to be missing out on so many great games.

The combat, by the way, is pretty much the exact same as VII, just with less easily used Limit Breaks (Desperation Attacks) and no materia.

Since we all know that this world of 2006 is based merely off graphics and the fact that the censorship on things and the ability to expand the idea's onto a bigger console. You have to look at the fact, in 1994 the capabilities of the SNES were different then the highteched software they use to make games now. Even the way storylines are scripted now have changed. Nothings that amped down verbally unless it's aimed for children, but back then, it wasn't aimed at children. (Don't bash guys, I <3 the storyline. I grew up with this game. <3<3<3)
You have to realize that if ff6 never came out, but came out this year with the same story line, different graphics, and maybe an amped up script you probally would actually like it.. of course that would knock ff7 back to the old horrid graphics and make ff6 ff12.. but.. that's not the point. Point is... Yeah, you keep saying the time is now. Alot of the 'newer' Final fantasy games have used as many stereotypical things from the classics, being 1, 4, 6.... for that reason, THAT IS WHY FF6 is a classic.
Now not to be a wench about this.. But I rememeber when ffX came out and everyone was all "oooooh Grahpics" and not "ooooo Storyline".. If I want to sit through something visually pleaseing... Please guys, just start making Cg movies instead of games, because that is what these games are turning into, One long movie.

IMO, the graphics in FFVI are better than FFVII's. I don't even like the realistic graphics too much. What is better? Graphics vs. Music? Graphics Vs. Storyline? Graphics Vs. Character development? You are just acting like a total graphics n00b.... If you don't like the game, think of the game in 3D. If you want it 3D with better graphics, beg square for all I care. No one pleaded for an FFVII remake but its comming out anyway because of the 'newer' graphics... Im sorry, but you are just a graphics n00b...

Graphics doesn't make the game, gameplay and story does, and that's what FF VI had. IMO, it's better than most FFs have today. You can't judge a game because of the type of graphics it had. If that's your attitude when it comes to graphics, I can just imagine how many great games you have missed out for ANY console

The Characters in FFVI were good, in fact aside from a few FFIV and FFVIII characters, most of my favourites are from VI.
The story was original, but I didn't find it too involving (because I really think this was more character driven).
Kefka was a great villain, his crossdressingness was A+ to the max. He is my favourite villain aside from Zeromus and Ultimecia (*prepares to be egged*) ... but then again, Ultimecia is kind of a female, new version of Kefka...crazy kink who wants to end stuff!
And the music, while not my favourite soundtrack like it is to many others, it is really good.
The gameplay was okay, I didn't find anything too special about it, other than the Esper system...which sort of reminds me of Materia+Junctions mixed together, so I guess that FFVII and VIII sort of stemmed from the basic system in FFVI. I didn't like the battle system, it was a bit too slow and generic for me...just like all the old FF titles are for me (sorry, this is one of the only places in which I prefer new generation FFs). But the Esper System saves FFVI's gameplay from being too boring or uninventive...plus everyone's special moves!
So that's what makes FFVI so good........

Uh yeah... Should I even argue that Phantom Brave is about ten years FFVI's senior?
I love Phantom Brave and all of NIS's works, but the sprites for Phantom Brave are about 3 times as large as FFVI's sprites. Not to mention that most of Phantom Brave is 3D scenery, and the sprites don't look nearly as good when the camera rotates. Also, Phantom Brave was made more than 10 years after FFVI, and allows the screen to have more than the SNES's 260x210 screen. And what do you expect from a sprite only 23 pixles high and 16 pixels wide? You don't like the graphics, I challenge you to go into paint and make better sprites in that confined space.Quote:

The story is great, the villain is just plain evil and awesome, the characters are very likable, and all of them have equal reason to join together and take down the Empire.
Because tehre's no main character, tehre's nobody who walks around with a very Big Sword who doesn't care about things at all... That's a first plus. The closest thing you have in FF VI that you have to somebody who says "whatever" is a black Ninja who slit his mother's throat for a nickle. :p
But, honestly, just about everything makes FF VI better than VII and VIII. I wouldn't say IX, because IX is the best. VI was the first to have 'many' forms of technology. That's kinda against my liking, but at least it wasn't so bad as in VII.
The characters are all great, KEfka is just wickedly awesome and the story is overal very good. There is some great music in the game as well. The gfx are very 'WOW', and in my humble opinion, better than VII's. It's just a good game, but I would not say it is better then ALL the other Final Fantasies, but it certainly comes close.

Anyway, I think FFVI is better than the others, because it's what made the foundation for the modern FFs of today. True, many FF mainstays were made in the earlier games, but FFVI truly defines what FFs are like today. It was the first FF with a truly complex customization system, the first FF with a deep story with truly deep character development, and it had very good graphics for a SNES game. (It also used those Mode 7 graphics more often than FFIV or V. :cat: ) It was also the first game to have a 'shocking revelation' kind of plot twist, not to mention (SPOILER)the world getting fried. And of course, the 'crazy nihilisitic mofo who becomes a god and has the awesome battle music as a final boss' that they can't seem to stop re-using. :cat:

Think about it:
When the game came out, the graphics were in 2D 16 bit.
People back then used their IMAGINATION in order to get a realistic visual of the game in their minds. It's not like the graphics have gotten any worse throughout the years, they have stayed 2D 16 bit. But it's the people like you who take super realistic graphics for granted. You should be able to enjoy a game just as easily as anyone 10 years ago...It's not like people had to use their IMAGINATION any less before than now. I really don't see why you can't like this game other than because you are an FFVIII fanboy who has made up his mind to NOT EVER like anything else.

But, if you were paying attention to the plot not the load times/16-bit graphics/FF8, you would realise there was a deep plot. This game I cried the most times on.
