I say it like Kwistis
a friend of mine says it like Keystis
what do you pronounce it as?
Keystis. I believe that's the right one (I used to say Kwistis too), because it's French. Or so I read once. Plus Keystis sounds waaaay prettier.
I say "Kwistis" - its now so ingrained in me - I wont change it. :D
Kwistis sounds way better than keystis, that doesn't make any sense to me.....
the Qui is spoken as [kwi] in many languages (look at quiz for example)
ah yes, French. Keystis is better sounding, it just comes out easily. I will say it like that from now on.
Druggelz, what languages other than English pronounce it like that?
Dutch
also German
Italian,
And others to, I've heard it a lot
French is a special one though
Qui in French means Who? of What? (depending on how you use it in a sentence) and you pronounce it like the word key in English. So you are correct
But the word Quiz in French is pronounced the way English people do (It's a word they took over from English, I don't know the correct English term for that word)
According to what I've looked up:
(The above is French pronunciation)Quote:
qu
is pronounced as k
Examples: quart /kar/, pique /peek/
A page on German pronunciation of the same http://www.ex.ac.uk/german/abinitio/pronounce/
Also, for everyone, some basics on Quistis' name. http://kalyka.net/quistis/name.html
Whow, nice looking up :-)
in the last site it is actually explained how her name should be said.
Her name comes from Kisuteisu. So it should be logical to think her name should be pronounced like kistis
I pronounce her name like "Kiss this!" :D
kiss this?;)
(SPOILER)does she not pucker her lips at the camera at the ending?

Kwi-s-tis.
I say Kwistis, even though I know it's wrong. Its kind of stuck in my head, so I cant get it out. Kind of like the Tie-dus Tee-dus issue.
Kwistis. It's implanted in brain for good.
Kwistis it sounds alot better.
Kwi - Stes
Yeah...I say "Kwis-stis" too.
I say Quest-is.
Thats........uniqueQuote:

i've always emphasized the q like: Q-stis
Instructor Trepe. Its the only right way to say it.
Kiss-tis. :cat:
Kinda like:
['kwistis]
:D
My brother: Queers-tis
Me: Kwis-tis
My sister: Huh
Kwistis! I've always said it like that. No way I'm changing it now!
I say it Kwistis even though i know it's wrong. Like Acid Raine said, it's like the whole Tie-dus Tee-dus thing.
Kvistis. Yeah, that's right. With a V.
I am illiterate. How are you supposed to pronounce it?Quote:

I think he just thinks it's unique in that that's not a very often used pronunciation. The proper way to say it is "Kee-stis", though everyone will use a different pronunctiation, so it doesn't really matter. :cat: Most people seem to say "Kee-stis", "Kiss-tis", "Kwi-stis" (As I did for awhile), and any others I forgot.Quote:

Ku-ay-Stis
But if I say it fast enough it just sounds like Kwistis anyway :p
Oh and I say Trepe like Tray-pei. Which is just off of the Japanese Pronunciation which would be Turepe
(I pronounced it at first as Kwee-stis xD)
Ditto.Quote:
