Go back in time to when Final Fantasy IX was in development would you change anything?...Because I would.
I would've had this game delayed so I could gather a cast of voice actors.And I would've added an on/off switch in the video game menu so...If some people were not satisfied with the voice acting they could just turn it off.And they could spend the rest of their time reading through millions of text boxes.
The only thing I would change is expanding Garnet's white magic abilities list. I would've given her the abilities to cast Haste, Holy, Full-Life, Might, and Jewel, and Esuna, just like Eiko.

Let me get this straight you wouldn't want Square Enix...(Squaresoft back then.) to add voice overs to Final Fantasy IX, if you could go back in time to when they were developing that game? I mean voice overs although most of the time they're not very good make it easier for people to follow the story.The reason why I'm saying this is because Chrono Cross didn't have any voice overs and they had a long and confusing storyline that I couldn't get into...That and there was too many fricking bosses in that game!!!:tonberry: )Quote:

Also, I would remove some details. At a low resolution like FF9 is running at, too many details just make everything seem like random noise. I think FF8 looked better, even though FF9 technically had better graphics.
Zidane: I'd give the actual amount of time at the end, and it wouldn't be a year or six months, it would be one or two months.

some control over Trance! somebody actually like Trance? was it more like they had to learn how to live with it b/c i can't take fleeing 470 battles in a row, just to avoid Zidane getting 1 more hit and going into Trance over something as weak as a Carve Spider, xD.

FF IX should make that an alternate ending.
Zidane: This alternate ending thing's is geting exponentally dumb, ripping on ZidanexGarnet isn't a valid thing to about in this thread, thereby declaring it spam. Back on topic, before I say something unkind about those who appear to be IHMO degrading actual FFIX fans. Kuja's attire, really, I didn't like it, if I could I'd make him wear something more his gender.
I happen to love FF IX, but I do agree a faster ATB would have been great. And I think they should keep Kuja looking the same, I don't know why but it seems to suite him very well. Aside from that voice acting could be fine, but I'm not really worried about that part.
Zidane: The ATB was fine, it gives Haste a purpose.
I would add an extra dungeon at the end of the game and make it have an alternate ending that deals a little more into the future of Zidane, Garnet and Co.
Another thing I would've changed is part of the story...I would drop that storyline where Eiko has a crush on Zidane.Because it's smurfing stupid IMHO *Scoffs* a 6-year-old having a crush on a 16-year-old. Damn! If I was a hopeless romantic like Zidane and the only OTHER girl out there that liked me was a six-year-old I'd kill myself!:tonberry:
Zidane: Well, I...*bangs head on keyboard*...I mean, Zidane just kept his head on what was going on and trying to stay away from Eiko's advancements, he also kept his mind-set on helping Garnet regain her eidolons at the time too. In a way, the Eiko crush contributed to Z&G falling for each other.

Zidane: Okay, I think Eiko's crush wasn't a half bad idea considering Zidane is the male humanoid figure she's seen since her grandfather, I DO; however, think Square made her crush too noticable though.
Well I know that it's a video game storyline but...I think six years old is too early to have a crush on someone.I mean aren't six year old girls supposed to be playing with dolls or something?
Afterwards:
- Zidane and Garnet get married, and Zidane becomes king. But they won't stay long, in the castle;) , they'ld just go on more adventures.^^
- Steiner and Beatrix get married, and take care of Alexandria while Zidane and Garnet go on adventures.
- Eiko becomes princess of Lindblum (although it's a regentship:p ), but she'll travel alot (mostly to Mognet Central:) (and maybe the rebuilding of Madain Sari))
- Vivi becomes a proud dad, and will live in Black Mage Village.
- Freya and Sir Fratley become queen and king of New Burmecia.(although i'm not sure of the King of Burmecia was killed, though:confused: )
- Amarant gets together with Lani and will travel the world, not really settling themselves.:)
- Quina becomes head-chef of Alexandria Castle.

Um, Franchise Person, I read that argument and it seems to make no sense whatsoever. IT doesn't seem to solidify your point, especially not the DBZ ones. In Tenkatchi if you examine the stats people like Chouzu or however its spelled are far behind the others. However when he uses farewell Tian on tian it more than makes up for his lack of power.

Zidane: Thank you Quin, anyway, Zidane pwns Cloud...end of story, back to the change ideas, the have-to-view ATEs could be annoying sometimes, it defeats the purpose of the optional ATEs.
i would change the whole game, this is no doubt the worst finalfantasy ever(well maybe 6 is)

The only thing I could possibly want to change (only if forced at gun point by a sett of ninja badgers) would be in game graphics. So basically, I'd've just waited a while, and released it on PS2.

The only person on EoFF that has the right to say "me and Zidane(and/or Garnet) go way back" is Crossblades, he was a regular on the very first message board my wife and I were active on before that board crashed two years ago, anyway, yes, I think FFIX would have been awesome on the PS2, just as long as there's no voice overs, I really didn't like FFX because of the voice overs, it didn't work for me. You could tell for the most part the Japanese had a hard time making the English verison sound good, and it still didn't sound good.Quote:

Yeah voice-overs sucked alot.
I love Trance. It does have bad timing sometimes, but I never mind that.
Zidane: Garnet's Trance is the best one out of them all plz. You summon an ediolon and it returns to attack periodically to attack even when it's not Garnet's Turn.
It's really just a common thing in Japanese games/anime/ etc. It's really nothing to worry about. :cat:Quote:

I actually would have liked them to expand on the Freya/amarant thing. It seemed to me they had a connection, and it seemed Fratly, however much I liked him, was a little to far gone to be able to love Freya again.
And I still say my alternate ending a few posts back is a good Idea.
I wouldnt want voice overs. X is the only one with voice over and because of it i didnt take the characters as seriously, due to not all that great voice acting. When you are reading the text you are imagining what everyone sounds like by yourself and i prefer it that way

My chief complaint with FMVs were no voices. Like they forgot to put speech balloons in those. Adding voices (good ones of course, not shrill n00bish crap with bad dubbing timing with the FMV scenes) would have made us connect more with the characters, like they are more alive. For example imagine hearing the evil laughter of Kuja, making us hate him even more. Or General Beatrix cheering away, instead of just opening her mouth but hearing only the music, as what happened at the final FMV. Think how much that would have rocked.
