This guy is a robot, no human can do this!

May not be as awesome as the previous videos, but i'm still pretty fond of this video. :D
Good god. Micheal Angelo is unreal. I think I wet myself watching those videos.
Speed metal isn't acctually that hard to play, but if you like speed metal nuno bettencourt and buckethead are both better than that guy.
Flashy but not the best.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...95046548745682
there are many better clips this was just the first I found
Buckethead is awesome. :D
Also, don't they use that first Angelo solo in one of the Burnt Face Man eps?
"Shall I play the bass guitar?"
"Not now, Suggestion Boy... This is my time to shine!"
I must admit very very impressive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMv74...Angelo%20batio 4 necked guitar! THis guy is a monster!
Impressive, but for me, nothing beats Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption"
Man I think I wet my pants xPQuote:

lol, its still an awesome solo.
Haha, Nigel has an awesome guitar face.
And the way he stops for a second to tune the violin ever so slightly is the icing on the cake XD
Yeah he does!Quote:

Its a bass solo but since Nikki sixx is doing it its totally awesome.
EDIT: Nikki is cool.
I have to disagree with ANY of these being the best guitar solo ever.
I'm going to go with the solo near the end of Pain of Salvation's King Of Loss. It is just totally amazing and beautiful.
http://crushedaria.dajoob.com/Pain%2...0Of%20Loss.mp3
Mike's problem is the tunes, he needs to show us bigger and badder styles using the guitar to it's fullest, then I will see him as guitar god. That was a cool solo there CH.
Maybe it's just me, but Guitar Solos don't particularly impress me. They have their moments, but I think that they should be more about creating a mood that goes with the music accompanying it, not just who can shred the fastest.
No one said it was about speed, it's about how sweet the solo sounds, solos dont have to be fast.Quote:

One word: Heartbreaker

In all honesty, pretty much anything by this guy is the greatest guitar anything.
I just picked this one, cause I like this song at the moment.
All hail Stevie Ray.
Impressive.
(Thats all I can say!)
I dont have any best guitars solos but I thoroughly enjoy some of Claudio's from Coheed and Cambria.
Or the dead guy from Pantera...or even Slash from Guns N Roses
That was pretty lame.Quote:

Wish they had some of Chris Holmes's solo's on youtube.
Which is why Jimmy Page will always be the worlds greatest guitar player.Quote:

Pfft. SRV could kick Jimmy Page's ass.Quote:

You may Like SRV better, but thats just becuase you don't know all of Jimmy Pages work, and you do know most of SRV.
I know them both very well, and nothing SRV has done nothing that can compair to Jimmy Pages "white summer".
Mozart + Betovheen + Jesus + God + bell Bottoms = Jimmy Page.
I like to ride my bicycle, I like to ride my bike. ;)
Gary Moore and Stevie Ray top my lists, have for a long time.
Most of those stucked. There's a difference in metal and speed metal. Shoving as many notes in as fast as you can just doesn' t sound cool. The Motley Crue was good and the SRV too, though I prefer some of his other songs more. I couldn't get Crushed Hope's solo to work.
Hmm, I wonder if my server took it down.Quote:

Ok, I found one even better than the first one I posted. This was actually the video I was looking for when I first posted.
The intro and ending have been cut a bit due to file size, but it's still got the important parts.
watch some john petrucci...steve vai...joe satarani...angelo bastio(sp) all of them are amazing..
I found a great copy of Jimmy Pages white summer.
This is my favorite guitar solo of all time. just amazing. It's not speed metel so if you like speed metel you wont like this.
This was recorded in 1970 before every other video on this thread....He started it all.....thats why he is the best.

Being the first doesn't mean ANYTHING aside from that people will surpass you over time.Quote:

did you even watch the video.Quote:

but you can think what you want, you just can't use that logic to justify it.
Wow, I was refering to something that was totally music and you bring up Edison. :rolleyes2Quote:

Daniel Gildenlow is miles ahead of Page in both song writing and technique, and guess what he came years after him.
Toby Driver is miles ahead of near every guitarist in terms of everything, and only started a band a few years back.
Popularity does not equal talent and skill.
Nor does the influence a famous guitarist has.
That's just a video of him playing live. Black Sabbath's Paranoid also came out in 1970 and Iron Man had a real music video.Quote:

Exactly, and I will site Jimmy Hendrix on this.Quote:

I brought up Edison because that was the first example that came to mind. I could have use Mozart, or Bach, or Beethoven, or Nirvana, or Elvis, to prove that your logic doesn't work.
Being the first to do something is called ORIGNALITY, and it’s very important when writing anything weather its music games books.
If there were a guitar rating system it would looks something like this
ORIGNALITY -- Skill -- Speed -- Style -- Complexity -- melody and so on.
Jimmy Page would have a 10 on originality were most guitarists would not......and even though Jimmy Hendrix isn't very good at all he would get a 10 for originality as well.
And when someone says something is the best IMO should be implyed.
Originality doesnt have anything to do with sheer talent.
Thing is Page was not smurfing original at all.
I guess in a sense a guitarist cant really be orginal anymore just because everything has been done.Quote:

The thing is that you don't know a damn thing about Jimmy Page. All you know is that he played in led zeppelin, and maybe you know of the yard birds too.
He did a lot more than you know of, he did it before anyone else did it, and he is the most respect guitarists out of all guitarists. Argue all you want but when Rolling stones, Guitar pro, Spin, Maxim, and so many others rated the Worlds greatest guitar players jimmy Page was in the top 3 in every magazine.
He played the guitar with a violin bow for god sake, and had Gibson Special make his world famous duel guitar, and most of the effects used by led zeppelin were never used in any other band before them.
And just out of Curiosity do any of you actually play the guitar, because if you don't you would have no clue on what is or isn't difficult.
I play guitar, and while I have to agree playing Page's stuff is tough, playing Stevie Ray, or Hendrix is much harder.
Michael Angelo Batio is the winner.
Speed Lives is the greatest song ever.
Also, this guy. He plays Flight of the Bumblebee at 304bpm.
Out of curiosity, do many of you know/like Gary Moore's stuff? He's a blues guitarist, he doesn't rely on solos as much as he does songs, but I still rate him quite highly, especially after listening to Parisienne Walkways as a kid. Definitely a different style to what people usually think of when they think of great guitarists, though.
Yes, Gary Moore is an execellent guitarist.:)Quote:

Hendrix is very hard because he used a crazy guitar. A lefthanded guitar with Reversed strings....or something like that, as for SRV I don't like his music so I have never tryed to play it. There are a ton of really good contry guitar players.....But I hate contry so I will never play there music.Quote:

Joe Satriani is one of the best modern day guitarist, and he does put on a fantastic show.
Crushed hope you need to chill out and face the fact that you are not right....as I am not right becuase its all an opinion. But you not playing the guitar explains a lot about your opinion.
Stevie Ray is blues, not country.Quote:
