Are You Ashamed?

Do you ever feel ashamed of what you are sometimes ?
What I mean by this, is do you hide the fact that you play video games, or do this or that.
I admit that I dont express what im into in front of my friends and such. They still dont know that Im a video game freak, or that I watch anime alot daily. In the day and age we live in, it would seem sad what I do. Especially in front of my friends. So all I can do is hide it all.
Its not like Im like this in front of all my friends, I generally hang out with two crowds, one being my general friends, have a laugh, go out with. And the other, who I talk about anime and video games etc. Baisically what I represent here.

Anyone go through the same problem ?

i feel that i also have a two-part personality. I act completely different at home or when I'm on my own then when I'm at school/College, but I don't feel ashamed of the way I act

I'm not, who I am is who I am.

I am pretty outward with what I do and what I am. Granted, I will act sillier and nerdier with my silly and nerdy friends, but I don't hide the fact that I play video games, still like pokemon, adore opera, etc. :)

I used to do it, but now I just don't have the energy to care anymore. And I'm only 20! See how much acting drains the very life out of you?

How can you be ashamed of playing video games? Everyone plays video games nowadays. In fact I would say it would be strange to say that you DON'T play video games.

Never. I do act stupid sometimes and Im nerdy too but I never ever hide my taste in music or that I play video games. I love who I am and I wont change for anybody :)

Sure, I do mention I play video games, but I definately dont mention how much I spend playing them. Also, if a video game discussion does come up, its usually about GTA or something, certainly not Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest etc

I used to be like that when I was 13. Then I matured a bit, and realized that it's part of who I am so why should I hide it?

No, I am who I am and people accept me for that. :)

I act differently depending on the situation...but I'm always myself.

Hmm... I'm totally comfortable with most of my friends. My close ones anyway. I hang out with a lot of girls..... I do act differently if I need to though. Like at a solemn occation....

Nah, my friends know I'm a nerd. Nothing wrong with that. That's not to say that I talk about everything with all of my friends. I don't have any friends that have all of the same interests as I do.

My mates and family know what I do, computer games and anime, etc. Its cool cause they ask my opinions on games, manga, anime and it feels great helping them.

I act completely different at home to how I act at school. Its not as pronounced as I was when I was little but it's still there. I was borderline nuts as a child.

I don't like to be generalized by things that I wouldn't say generalize me very well. If someone were to say 'this is rubah, she plays videogames' I would be rather uncomfortable, because I don't that much really. If you were to say 'this is rubah, she is a total IRC addict' I would be more comfortable because that is completely true.

the same idea goes for 'this is rubah, she draws naked people'. While I have drawn naked people a time or two, I wouldn't say that was the mean of my work. 'This is rubah, she draws stuff' would be more accurate and relate the varied subjects of my composition.

'this is rubah, she thinks about sex all the time' would be more true than the other two, but it's not *necessarily* true. and it would be embarassing to admit.

I'm not that ashamed of myself. I'm only ashamed of my bad traits. (Turning bloody red in front of pretty girls that talk to me, mumbling when I talk, not being able to stand up for my beliefs)

I'm not ashamed of the fact that I play video games or do other "nerdy" stuff, but I am ashamed of other things about myself. ;P But pfft I could care less about THAT crap. My friends play video games and read and do all the things I do too. That's part of the reason why we're friends!

i keep my internet life and two real-life social lives separate. i guess you could say that then, yes.

I can't even say I've ever considered hiding who I am. The only aspect of my life I hide is my sex life, and that's mostly just from my parents.

Let's just say that none of my real life friends knows that I'm a member of a Final Fantasy fan site.

Deseo ser mismo. In english, that means "I want to be myself." It was the quote of the day in my spanish class. Well, I do want to be myself. The problem is, most of the things I do...other girls don't do. Outside....I play video games, spend hours on the computer, not type like "OMG!!!!!!!" Every five seconds. I don't have horrible typing skills. Oh, and I don't care about how I really look, I don't wear makeup(KILL MAKEUP! DIE!), I hate reality TV, I never keep up with trends. Yeah, I kinda try to act like I like these things at school so I don't get hit with rocks. Well, not hit with rocks, but the REALLY SARCASTIC comments about how great I look. Those get really annoying after a while. I also try to be invisible! Although it's not working. I can't hide from the world. :/ Anyway, in school, I try to be invisible, if I'm spotted, I try to be in-ish. Outside....LOOK OUT! ^_^

I only ever bring it up when I'm making fun of myself.

Same here, especially of alot of the choices I've made within the last year. I feel I've grown out of that selfishness though. I hope I have anyway.

Nah. My friends love that I'm an anime/video game geek... because it extends to me kicking ass at Tekken and Madden. They think it's funny because I don't look or act like one.

Playing video games and posting on a Final Fantasy board are just aspects of my life and personality, they don't define who I am. I am not just a "gamer" or a "photographer" or a "dancer". My interests range from everything between MMORPGs to cheerleading to watching Food Network for hours and hours.

I won't apologize or be ashamed of my interests and how I spend my time.

The only part of my life I actively try and hide is my personal relationship with my boyfriend and like Shlup, that's mostly information I don't disclose to my parents.

I use to be.
If I ever talked about games with my mates, it would be GTA or a Sports game. Never FF.
That's why I joined this Forum.
Now though I don't care.
I'll talk about Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing and any other I'm into.
I don't give a :skull::skull::skull::skull: what people think anymore.

I thinks its stupid to hide who you are. While I don't talk about varoius things with certain friends I don't hide the fact I like those things. They pretty much know it, its just they don't like it so we stick to our shared intrests. I can't say I'm ashamed of anything I've ever done. Albeit I'll admit I've done some pretty stupid things in my life, but I'm not ashamed. And as for Manus, we didn't need to here that.

I don't exactly go on about my playing video games and building with lego, but if anyone asks me about it, I admit that I like the stuff. :)

I'm not ashamed. Nobody even knows anything about my life anyway. Not one aspect. So, that doesn't even come into the question.

Only time I'm ashamed of my self, is if I do something I did wrong or stupid. SO I punish myself. Other than that I'm me and you can change that. :p

I am completely open about what I like, but I know I'm weird so I join in when people tell me I am. It's not bad to be different! ;)

People make me feel ashamed of the bands I listen to and the things I love.

Same. But I try not to hide them, nonetheless.

Well all my freinds are into anime and games so i dont feel ashamed and i dont like to socialise with other people

Lucky!! The friends I have outside of the net all hate the things I like, and aren't even willing to try them out half the time. I have one friend bad mouthing Final Fantasy and saying it's "gay to like it" even though she's never touched the game. xD!

Yes and no.

Depends how I feel actually. Sometimes I pretty much don't give a damn what others think, and other times I do care.

It sucks here. There's NO ONE like me in my entire school. Everyone's the same. Boring and preppy. Makes me wish I hadn't gone to an all girls school. >_>

speaking about my culture - never! so Asia is not the most romantic place to be, but it is home to the most beautiful architecture. Yangon or Rangoon (Myanmar), Temple of Heaven/Forbidden City (China), and Kinkakuji Temple (Japan), etc.

actually, i'm pretty much myself as much as i try to be something else. i love to write, the style of my writing, love for video-games - that is me...

Never. That would totally undermine everything I've worked for in my life. I'm at a point of no return, instead of letting things get me down, I use them to take off from. I made a decision to be happy, and so I am. Make a decision, nobody will do it for you. :)
