A:No one knows, not even SE themselves, their estimation is end of 2006, early '07.

Q:What about USA?
A:Their goal is October/November, though that could change in a heart beat.

I heard that a lot of reliable sites say its coming out in the first quarter of 2007 due to some recent interview. Lets just hope its wrong.

Well, I did some research, and the big sites still say whats posted above, plus I can't read german so that doesn't really help.

Now, obviously thats either incredibly outdated, or its the simple date of the article. Either way, its suposedly the "final" release date. My guess though, is its outdated, and the "final release date" for the japanese version.

Anyhow, until I see some bigger websites confirming that its being delayed, again, I'm going to keep it what it is, for now.

i could have sworn it would be mid november 2006 for US and UK. i hope UKs isnt a lot later than that.

You forgot to calculate the Square last-second-delay! With that the date is February 2007. ^_^

Nah, I'm hoping for an early October release, which is just asking for disappointment but hey what can I say. Voice actors are already hopping on board so it could be sooner then later I guess.

Im certainly not unhappy about waiting for XII as we will have all the bug's wormed out and plus SE will hopefully give us extra content (FFX anyone)

That would be nice, I just hope they don't do the same thing they did with FFX and Europe, little content is alright, but adding that many optional bosses is alittle unfair.

I read somewhere on Gamespot they asked them if XII would be altered at all and Square said no, other countries would get the exact same version that Japan got... But I'm too lazy to link so you'll just have to figure I'm making it up.

Yeah thats what HMV are saying, plus some guys selling it on Ebay brand new and said the release date was 4th of August. But Amazon are still saying October.

Gamefaqs are just guessing. We have to wait for confirmation from SE themselves. I predict early 2007 for EU.

I dunno why. But I doubt those dates are right. Dont get your hopes up. Ive done it before, but SE always let you down with release dates. Ill change my name if it comes out in Europe by October or earlier.

I thought that would have been the right date as FFX and X2 were summer releases. But hey, I wont get my hopes up then.

Considering they said around October for the US, I can't see why Europe would get it any later than this year.

Because there is always a delay between America and Europe. The specs have to be changed slightly. (more screen lines, less frames a second). Plus they just can.

Since Best Buy wanted me to preorder that Final Fantasy VII remake for the end of this year that doesn't exist, and after that Advent Children debacle, I just won't hope for any early release date or trust any stores for XII until I see it on store shelves. Square has made me lose all hope, you see this?!

The confirmed US release date (October 31) makes me sure that FFXII will come out in Europe during 2007.

UGH! SE pisses me off royally with that sort of thing. We can't know for sure at all until the game actually comes out and we see the trailer. I remember when I first saw the KH trailer on tv, I was so excited.. I don't remember ever seeing a FF trailer though..

We (Europe) usually get FF titles a month after the United States release. Play.com (UK) has it down as 1st December, I'd say that's about right.

ToA, FFIIIDS, and Silmeria are really going to have to tide me over.

What do they want to do with it!? i really dont get this (now i'm on a rant). All they have to do is take a load of the amercian versions, rip out all the good scenes, hidden bosses, put in crappy rap music and then they've finished. how long does it take!?

In all seriousness, i bet there are two japanese to amercian translators sitting in a broom cupboard with the script, looking it up on Babelfish translator ¬_¬

Yes, it is, simply because FFX international version was basically another game, you had to deal with bosses you couldn't beat to progress through the normal playing game. You act like waiting another month is going to kill you, you must really get some self control there bud.

But I do have self control... if i didnt I would import it lol and I dont see why they should work on the American version before the EU version. all I was saying that its not exactly fair FF fans in America should get it before we do, oh and FYI its not a month difference its normally half a year later and 90% of the time we dont get extra content.

I'm from New Zealand so i'm with the PAL region, it does suck that we have to wait so long for new FF games but i'm happy to wait if they are gonna pack it full of features like FF10, I love that game all the Dark Aeons and Penance. Since FFVII we have had to wait stupid amount of months to get our hands on new 'The New FF' which is basicallly the same. They should pack our FF games full of features

^ He does have a point. You can't just SAY that more Americans play FF than Europeans. They're pretty much the same size so you can't generalise. I think it's really unfair we get the game about half a year later.. and surely the eurpoean games aren't THAT different anyways.

I really don't think it's fair for you guys either. Especially for english speaking european countries. Where the ONLY thing they have to do is change the framerate and stuff. It shouldn't take that long. I think the reason such a delay is that they wait until they have all the european langauges translated. So you're waiting just because they're doing it in french and spanish and stuff. Which is retarded. Just make THOSE countries wait. Though that brings up something else as to why it takes so much longer to translate into those languages. They translate into english in about six months. If people are working on translating japanese to spanish it shouldn't take any longer. Maybe it's easier to translate from english to spanish. Or they don't have anyone hired that knows japanese and spanish so they have to wait, 'cause its a lot easier to find people that can translate from english to french or to spanish... But that still doesn't explain why other english speaking countries have to wait so long

Do they really do a Spanish and French version?? I always thought that the Euro version was English and that's it. I know they don't make a Danish version but hey...why would they??

Aye, you can also count Australia (where I am from) as part of the European player base. I think it's a little unfair forus, as we only need the frame rate conversion -- not all those other languages. And usually we have to wait 2-4 weeks after the European release (which most of the time is half a year or more after the American release, and not always with newer content).

Not to mention a lot of the good games (like Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Xenosaga I, etc) never get released here. :(

Anyways, I guess I can wait another month for Kingdom Hearts II, so that can occupy me until FFXII comes , which I'm guessing will be Autumn 2007 for Australia / New Zealand -- around March/April. Of course, that's just a guess, if it truely is being released October 2006 in America.

They don't do a voice-over in either French or Spanish, if that's what you mean. They however add French/Spanish/German/Italian subtitles (I think there are a couple more, actually, but both FF X and FF X-2 were at least subtitled in those languages, if I remember well), as well as translate all the menus, items and ability names (usually for really dumb-sounding ones, i.e. FF IX in French....):tongue:

French Mag Gameplay RPG has also confirmed an early 2007 release date for Europe in its July issue. So glad I've got the japanese game already, even if I'll get the European version for the dialogs - my Japanese isn't that good, unfortunately....

Who is distributing the game in Australia and Europe? Is it Ubisoft? Someone had told me they were in contact with Ubisoft Australia, who is apparently distributing the game in Australia -- said they had been working on the conversion and different languages all this time, so it'd be close to the American release.

I'd be more inclined not to believe them though.

japanese like british more than americans any day of the week!

but in terms of making money, the US is the more lucrative market. FF sells more games in the US than in the EU and that's just a fact. i don't mind waiting longer if we get more content... like FFX. but most of the time we don't get more content and have to wait months. it takes the piss.

When I was living in Japan I seen more Japaneese tring to be more American and Wanting to go to America, I never seen a Japaneese asking to go to Europe. So to say Japaneese like the British more is ludicris. I only said they liked Americans more is because they ship to US first. And I said more Americans Play it because they sell more in America. Servays are already taken, so I don't have to.

FF sells way more in the US than in EU, he's right on that. I think EA distrubutes FF in Aus and NZ, a couple years ago they had FFX-2 on the EA (New Zealand) website

I'm not too good with an ATB window, in real time, I hope they put in a turn based option, like Junes issue of PS2 Magazine suggested[IMG]zzz cool[/IMG]

The US gets the games first because games sell most there, EU usually gets them second because of the language changes, and games sell second best here, and Australia and NZ in most cases get it last because they sell the least there. If an American company has a game made, it'll usually arrive on Japanese shores last, because its will sell least there. RPG's are heavily text based, thats why most RPG's take alot of time to move from area to area. You'll notice that nowadays, games that arent text heavy dont take that much time to arrive on shores other than the US.

I for one, am sick of waiting, so I had my PS2 chipped so Ill import it as soon as possible..

I think FF sells pretty well in NZ considering that our population is only 4 million. I don't mind waiting but not 8-12 months after it's initial release. Oh well what can you do?

FF sells better in the US. but anglophilia is massive in japan. who is more popular in japan. michael jordan or david beckham? the queen, or the president? if you're a band and you're british you're more or less guaranteed a japanese fanbase by default.

if you have played FFXI you will notice the english speaking players from europe always make a point of stressing that they're not american when speaking to japanese players, so as to avoid the stereotypes the japanese have for americans.

Usually, after the US release, it would take a month at the maximum to sort out the 50hz/PAL/FPS issues and get the game shipped to Europe, this was always the case with previous FF titles, so we were use to that and understood the reasons for it. To put it all the way back to Febuary (eleven months after Japan), is disappointing. For the next six months, the closest so many of us (without chipped consoles) will get to FFXII is YouTube.

HMV reckon it will be in November. Im not going to preorder it as I think that date is wishful thinking.

amazon UK is quoting february 23rd for EU release. that's good enough for me. i'll need time to play FF5 and 6 advance.

Best bet is Febuary next year for Europe.

We (PAL) won't get it till either Feb or Mar

HMV Online claim its going to be 24-11-2006. Amazon say the 23 February, 2007. I dont know which to believe personally.

I'd go with Amazon.
HMV had it set for a May 2006 release earlier in the year.

All this waiting is really starting to annoy me.

I got a Gameplay 'alert' email and they have just changed the Final Fantasy XII release date to 26 January, but I still expect it to come out in Feb.

You guys might end up getting extra features like you got for X. Maybe being last in line isn't so bad.

that's what i'm hoping, but i can't see it this time really. FFX PAL was like 6 months late, this is only like 2 months.

hmm now that you say that being last isnt so bad, we in Australia ALWAYS get left last, though I hope we get extra features...then we could rub thier faces for leaving us last! Grr...Anyway, I hope that it's not released to later after everyone else...

Unfortunately they also take out all the good stuff for us so if anything we're getting less features
