I don't think I need to explain any further.
I'm not 100% sure myself, but for the moment I'll go with Bachs "Jesu, Bleibet meine freude" (Joy of mans desiring)

Beethovens "Furelise".
Enya's "Watermark" is definitely at the top of my list.
That's it :cool:Quote:

Anyway, in all actuality think the best melody would have to be either Chopin's "Nocturne" or Thomas Newman's "Theme to the Shawshank Redemption". Seriously. I love that melody.
for pure melody, I'd say the aria "O mio babbino caro" from the opera Gianni Schicci by Puccini.
for absolute greatness and perfection in the theme and variations realm, the aria of Bach's Goldberg Variations is sublime.
also, in the ridiculously catchy category, the best is perhaps Schubert's lied Die Forelle which is also used superbly as the theme for the variations movement of his "Trout" Quintet. Hard to go wrong with the trout.
The Tetris theme.
...which is by Tchaikovsky
He's no Mussorgsky.
Mussorgsky died of alcohol poisoning in the hospital after bribing a nurse to bring him some vodka.
Axel's Theme from Beverly Hills Cop. Hands down.
SANDSTORM
edit: yes I am not serious
That song Curt and Faris(?) did
so does that discredit the fact that he wrote some awesome music? (even if they were arranged by others).Quote:

Speaking of Schubert, I still need to pick up the Trout Quintet. I do have Death and the Maiden Quartet, though. That has to be one of the "awesomerest" string quartets ever written.
no, Mussorgsky's death only makes him cooler.
check out Schubert's String Quintet. It's supergood.
Greensleeves is pretty nice. I also think the Austrian National Anthem is beautiful
Its Für Elise!Quote:

And yes, I'm totally serious.
Metallica's "Fade To Black" and "The Call of Ktulu" are great as well.
Through the Kaleidescope by Steven Cravis has got the be the prettiest ever.

Actually, it's a Russian folk song. I thought you were making a joke until I realized that Nutcracker song in the NES version was probably by Tchaikovsky.Quote:

No, that's the Nutcracker theme. It can't be two things.
The Tetris theme is based on a folk song titled "Korobeiniki" by a guy named Nikolai Nekrasov. The Nutcracker is by Tchaikovsky. Two different things.
Sorry, I don't know why I forgot to put it. Umm Nocturne in F# Major, Op. 15 No. 2.Quote:

Barney's theme.
Its a classic, I want to hug someone right now.
