Um...I'm sure they probably already have a thread on this...
But, I would have to say Aeris.
The name Aeris was a translation error. The reason she is called Aerith is because it comes from the Japanese katakana word "Earisu" which means earth. The Japanese language does not have a "th" sound, so they use the "s" sound to represent "th". Hence, Earisu translates to Aerith.
Edit: Plus all I meant by that statement is that's who my favorite character is.
Tifa will always be my favorite FF VII character:)

Cloud. Spikey-headed-originally-overconfident-but-later-underconfident-ex-SOLDIER-(but-not-really)with-mysterious-hole-filled-past-and-schizophrenia-not-to-mention-he's-practically-trippin-for-a-good-portion-of-the-game.
Plus he's got a big sword. And he's a hit with the lady-types. What more could you want?
By the by, characters as minor as Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie are in here but there's no Hojo? I know everyone hates him but I'd at least consider him an important character worthy of being an option.
Sephiroth was so cool. Every time i saw him in the game he had a godly pressence. It sent shivers down my spine I was like hes goign to kick my ass.

Cloud wins my vote. Not for superficial reasons, but for the way he confronted and overcame the nasty secrets from his past - the strength that empowered him to keep going in the face of crippling self-doubts, when it looked like the world might truly be done for. He's no fearless immortal, rather a person with very human weaknesses and flaws who nonetheless does what has to be done in order to protect the lives of others. Rising to challenges, rather than simply being an unstoppable force like other heroes.
at the end my main characters were barret red XIII and cloud all just over lvl 80 with all summons, man they kicked sepheroths ass
Red has 2 be i just thought h was the best in battles but its hard 2 choses i mean seph and aeris both cool and yeah i think the turks were ok 2. wot about summonings though u have 2 love bahumut and odin.
This is a tough question. I would have to say a tie between Tifa and Barret.
Tifa just plain kicks as*. And since she's a woman, she'd be at the top of the list for me. (me feminist :) )
