I wanna know the band you think is easily the best. Sure there are the kids who like Nirvana, then the others who like Pantera, but I want to know the bands that you guys know are easily better then your favorites. You don't have to like them as much. One band only, please.
To me, it's The Beatles. Led Zeppelin? Yeah, great, whatever.

Franz Ferdinand (did I spell that right?) I listen to junk like Disturbed and Cold, but I heard a couple songs by them and they're waaay better. But I still like my Cold.

I'm loath to choose just one band/artist, but at a pinch...Radiohead.

Yeah I'll go with Queen. The Beatles aren't all that great.
Best artist ever would be Dan Swanö (the man, not the "band"). I don't know which the best band ever would be.

I can't even imagine how anyone can consider the Beatles (who are great) and Queen (who are decent) as being even near the same level of quality, but it all seems to be personal taste anyway.
Radiohead might prove to be the best band ever at some point in the future, but they're still active so they're full body of work is incomplete, as well as their influence just beginning. I can say that after seeing them live it is very hard to imagine any band actually being better, both at writing songs and at performing them.
I don't get the whole beatles thing. I have tried but I just don't think of rock when I hear songs about submarines. Led Zepplin are easily far more talented.

Probably Oasis, I dont like alot of bands so it wasnt such a hard decision.
Talent wise? I honestly don't know, I'd have to be proficient at playing a variety of instruments to even be able to begin to think about a band's ability as a whole. As for who sounds the best to the most people, that's a simple as who's sold the most albums (Michael Jackson's Thriller sold the most worldwide). Influentially Elvis, The Clash, and Nirvana deserve mention because they essentially created or atleast popularized the genres I enjoy the most.

The best band ever is Dream Theater.I kid you not. They are the best band ever.

John Petrucci- Presived as one of the greatest guitar players in the world. Nominated greatest guitar player ever 5 times in GW magazine.
Mike Portnoy- Portnoy has won 19 awards from Modern Drummer magazine, including "Best recorded performance" (5 times) and "Best Progressive Rock Drummer" (for 10 consecutive years), and is also the youngest person (at 37 years of age) to be inducted into their Rock Drummer Hall of Fame. John Myung- Absolutly amazing bassist...AMAZING!!!...he holds a few candles to Les Claypool..(and we all know that is saying something)
Jordan Rudess- The keyboard God. This man went to julliard at the age of 9...9!!!...man is phenomonal..
James Labrie- Yea he just a normal guy...but he can sing really well..he has a terrific range and hits every note perfectly..

It has to be Queen. Simple.
I find a lot of Queen's music really annoying.
I don't know which band I think is "the best", but it's probably not The Beatles, either. They're good, yes, but they're not the best. Pink Floyd is better, I think.
My favourite band is The Cure, but that doesn't mean I think they're the best.

It's between Radiohead, Floyd and Led Zeppelin for me, and my final answer is Floyd.

Never really got into the whole Beatles craze thing, just didn't see what was so special about them. I think its mainly the fact that their music just didn't appeal to me, although I do like their song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" but thats about it. That being said I would have to say the best band ever imo would either be Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd.

For me, it's Skinny Puppy or KMFDM, as both were (and still are) so influential in defining what Industrial music was and now is.
However, if I were to broaden my perspective to ALL genres of music, I would have to say that I find either Pink Floyd or Iron Maiden to be my personal 'best' bands.

My personal favorite band is The Flaming Lips. However, I feel that I should mention that I personally feel that Queen transcends the concept of "band". I like Queen in a way that is impossible to describe. I love the Flaming Lips, and I listen to them all the time, but Queen is so indescribably amazing that it would be an insult to them to say that they were "my favorite band". They're better than that.

That one man band, on the sidewalks of... well, any city. My favorite is in Waikiki, Hawaii. Island of Oahu. That guy always cracks me up and he can sing!
They're not my favourite group, but it's hard to argue with the Beatles being the best band ever. They changed the face of popular culture forever in a way that may never be repeated, and in terms of record sales no other band can match them.
But please tell me. In your opinions what's so great about Queen?
Just because The Beatles were influential doesn't mean they were good. They were decent musicians who wrote decent music.

I've gotta say metallica cause they were THE BEST rock band in the 80's and early 90's , but my favorite band is slipknot. I think their best songs are wait and bleed , heretic anthem , and before i forget.
