freelancer instead of onion knight? I am pissed.
That's a point; this chart doesn't include the Onion Knight class. I hear it's become a class of it's own now, rather than just being the generic 'bare' class like before.
they better have onion knight as the best job
I think bipper was referring to the fact that the Onion Knight has been renamed to Freelancer.
Am I just seeing things, or has the White Wizard been renamed "Devour"?
Onion Knight =/= Freelancer.
Onion Knight = KNIGHT with (weak) armour, (weak) but funny hats, (weak) knifes. OR (powerful) Onion Sword (powerful) Onion Armor (powerful), well, everything Onion like.
Freelancer = Characters in their daily clothes with no armor, no nice hats and magic. Things the Onion Knight did not have.
Well, at least that's how I think about it.
FF III with NO Onion Knighst is NOT FF III.
Final.
Still, other jobs look good. I want this game very badly, but that badly wanting will be halved if there are no Onion Knights that you can tell are Onion Knights from the first moment you see them. ;)
Nice. I don't really care that much about the Onion Knight class. Although it was a unique feature in FF3j, I only used Onion Knights for the first 15 minutes in the game and then switched them to other classes. The girl looks really cute as a Devout and as a Ninja. "Fate just had to give her red hair." ^^ Well, the kitty ears are a winner, too. :cat:
You'd have to be highly gullible to think they've just done away with Onion Swordsmen, especially bearing in mind how dedicated they are to do justice to the original game.Devout. The Japanese name is "Doushi," which can mean Moral Guide, and I guess Devout is close enough. This class was never called "White Wizard" in any version of FFIII, by the way.
I like how the Dark Knight looks:)
It's White Mage Kitty time. NOW.
I can't wait four more weeks.
WTFAKU, no OKs? Shamans (Devout), Magi, and Sages look awesome. The Knights and Dragoons look cool, too.
I just hope the Scholar isn't completely useless this time around.
It was said in an interview (check around the FFIII forum) that some jobs that were considered 'useless' now have a rehaul that will make every job useful in some way. :)
Excellent. Books have never had a better use than to hit the enemy on the head (or anatomical equivalent).
Ohh, and the Scholar needs a HP growth that isn't negative.
Scholars weren't completely useless. They were imperative to one battle, which is more than you can say for Bards...
Bards served their purpose. They're SUPPOSE to be USELESS.
I didn't even use a scholar for that fight, in the 3 times I've played through, so scholars aren't even that useful
THE JACKEL
Never used them against Hyne. Being able to tell an enemy's weakness when you have no elemental magic to use kinda takes away from the need to Scan him. My three physical attackers could do enough damage to bring him down. Giving the Knight the King Sword definitely made that battle easy, despite the low accuracy rate.
I'm fairly certain that OK will be a class somehow.
I have a feeling the Onion Knight will be a secret class you get after doing some special quest or going through some new special dungeon.
I just checked SE's European site, and the game isn't even shown there. I hope they'll release it in Europe. KH2 and FFVII AC are shown in that site, but there's still no information about their release dates.
The US release date is still shown as September 12th. Gamespot shows it as November for the US and September for Europ, but SquareEnix is saying September in US.
And here's your Onion Knights!

Not to mention Hain, the Four Old Men, Odin, Dorga, and Unne.
Is Magus = Time Mage? *wets self out of excitement* I've always wanted this game! I can't wait. NP just did a special on it in the latest issue I got today.
Magus is the equivalent of 'Black Wizard' (the second level of Black Mage), in this case. :cat:
Those Onion Knights are pretty goddamn beautiful.
Apparently, instead of being useless throughout most of the game only to become the best class by acquiring a ridiculously rare set of equipment, the Onion Swordsman will instead simply be a secret super-class found near the end of the game.
Onion Knight just sounds cooler. Humbug!
Don't worry, Onion Knight is what they called it when it showed up as a weapon for Lulu in FFX, so they'll probably be sticking with that.
You probably have to get all of the Onion Equipment before your character can become an OK or something.
That's probably the case if they're going to be as overpowered as they were in the original game. It'd be too simple if it were just another Ninja/Sage affair.
I want this game :)
But the Magus' moon symbol is reeallly Time Mage-esque. Ah well, forget that. I'm still getting this cuz of the Vikings.
It seems you getting Onion Knights and their equipment will be very different this time. You'll get them by sending loads of letters and using the Wifi function. That sounds annoying. I mean, what if your DS doesn't have the Wifi function? Or what if you don't have friends with a DS that has a Wifi function?
those Onion Knights D:
^_^!
making the wii a necessity to get the onion knight equipment does seem annoying. but so was making you fight a million battles just to get the chance to maybe get an item. that's a horrible idea of gameplay.
At my local gamestop, they say its release is november. And The DrKs are gonna kick total butt! Although they coulda gone away from the crystal chronicles art style.
I really wish this game was coming out in September
what has happened to my MKnight???? I don't see him on there!!!!!!! Someone please tell me hes in this game!
"He" is on the far left of the bottom row. They're called "Dark Knights" in this version.
speaking of he, my rom said that they were 4 boys, during the opening sequence, now it look like there is a chick in the mix. Did they change something, am I retarded, or is the person whom translated my rom reaterded? Prolly both?
They were four boys in the original game. But turning one of them into a girl seems minor next to the fact that they're actually getting personalities this time.
The original Japanese, Makenshi, translates to "Demon Swordsman." So, no, it was always a pretty antihero-like class.
I just hope they don't make Dark Knights as necessary as they were in the original. I mean, I want to use a regular Knight in those splitting caves without having to run from every fight! Maybe I'll just have to get three Black mages with Break 2... But then my defense would suck... oh well. I'll have to just hold the equipment for when I get to the boss.
The nice thing about Break 2 was the fact that it was an instakill on just about everything! But unfortunately, it'll probably have its power nerfed, because that is quite ridiculous. I do wonder though, how they're gonna make the Geomancer or Bard a worthwhile class...
