IMO this game has the coolest names out of any FF.
I guess using eccentric names is typical for Matsuno. FF Tactics had pretty special names too, such as Ramza Beoulve, Princess Ovelia Atkascha, Druksmald Goltana, Wiegraf Folles etc. Oh, and is Balflear his official name? I've heard Balthear more frequently.
Balflear is his Japanese name.
Balthier is his English name.
Is Ashe pronounced Ash as in Ashtray? :p

I've ben pronouncing it Aw-Sh.Despite the spelling.I think I read the pronunciation somewhere(Wikipedia I think)and have atarted pronouncing it like that ever since.
How do you pronounce Basch?

I don't really like the name Fran.I don't think it really fits in with all of the other cool names.
Fran reminds me of that 90s show with the nanny with that horrible laugh and I think her name was Fran, but anyway. Fran's name should've been something more... exotic.

Yeah she totally reminds me of Fran Drescher from the Nanny.
And those are pics of Vayne and Larsa Solidor and they will be key plot characters.
Vayne is the oldest surviving son of Emperor Gramis Solidor.He's also the consul of Dalmasca.
Larsa is Emperor Gramis Solidor's youngest surviviing son and has a connection to the mysterious mineral Nethicite...

Vayne is one of the main villians.
Larsa is an ally who temporarily joins your party.

In another thread I started,someone who has played the game stated that Penelo and Rikku's only real shared trait is their blonde hair.
Penelo's "Rikku" moments are few and far between,and are only added to break away from the seriousness of the other characters.
Penelo is more like Yuna than Rikku.
I want Penelo to be Penelo. Rikku was Rikku and I liked her the way she was, well, in FFX. I want to get to know Penelo's character without thinking, "OMGOSH WTF LOL SO RIKKU!" -__-
I thought that Penelo was gonna be the next Yuffie/Selphie/Rikku because of Square's tendency to put young,happy,hyper,teenage girls.
But I guess it's really the Nomura designed females that are the happy/hyper/teenage girls...
I'd say Penelo was more refreshing than hyper, hence my comparison with Yuna. But, I'd go with feona17's comment saying that Penelo has a personality of her own: she's really neither Rikku nor Yuna nor anyone else we've played so far, which is a very good thing!Quote:

Saying every FF has to have a hyperactive kid got me thinking about the usual types they have in FF's. There's the hyper active kid (Yuffie, Selphie, Eko, Rikku), the tormented soul (Cloud, Vincent, Squall, Vivi, Lulu), the beautiful woman with a terrible weight on their shoulders (Aries, Rinoa, Dagger, Yuna) and the bloke just trying to do his job (Barret, Cid, Steiner, Wakka).
It looks like they're all there in this one, except they've made one horrible mistake. The villian that looks like a girl doesn't look like a girl!

Just Trying to do His/Her Job=Fran and Balthier?
