Incidentally I hate this design. Where's his face for crying out loud? More to the point aren't the transformers meant to blend into human civilisation so no one knows who they are? That couldn't blend into a pile of scrap metal (which is what this hideous thing looks like).

Edit: Besides making the film a flop by not seeing it. You see, you can always expect this, fans not being happy with a film because it isnt the same they grew up with, the same they could have grown out of it. To me, change is good.

There's a difference between changing certain parts of an IP to make it more appealing to a wider audience, and downright gutting it, chewing it up, spitting it out and building it back up again. If you look at the previous Transformers across all of the series, this is about as far away as you can get from the look of Transformers as possible. When they did Lord of the Rings, they didn't have elves with horns coming out of their head, and Gandalf a fifteen year old blonde girl. This "new look" is like a cross betwene Guyver and a broken Rubix Cube. It's going to be hated by fans of the original, as is being shown here, and I doubt the large majority of non-transformer fans are going to care either way. This is a really bad move on the designer's part for this movie, that can't be denied. If you're not willing to pander to the fan base in the least, who exactly have you got left?Quote:

I think it looks totally awesome cool. But it should not be done. It just isn't Autobot-ee at all. I mean, come on. It is too 'futuristic' looking for a Transformers movie. I still can't wait for this movie though. I totally grew up on these guys.
Well, I couldnt care less if it was Autobot-ee, it just looks incredibly awesome to me.
The head's the main problem IMO and it needs some decent Decepticon colours on it. Where are the eyes?

I think that's just a prototype model, it has no colour and the guys in charge said it is likely to change around at times. The design for Optimus Prime Made my pants explode. So awesome.

I'm trying to feign shock and horror at this revelation but it just doesn't seem to come naturally.
The original designs, of which there were many variations of, simply would not translate into a realistic environment without looking horribly out of place or silly.

Yeah it's not a good change. I'm all for updating of the characters but they should be just that, and updated new version of the old character. This thing doesn't even remotely resemble Megatron, or a Transformer.

I'm definately not in love with the new designs, but I suppose I can see why Hollywood would do this, in trying to bring out more than just the fanbase. But also, they'll loose quite a bit of the fans in make so many drastic changes.
This is crap in a bucket that is made out of crap. I have seen this as well as some of the other designs and think that it all sucks.
On the bright side maybe Sony will release the series on DVD without smurfing with show. Those Rhino releases a few years back sucked from what I heard.
I would love to see them completely smurf up devastator in the movie though.

I never really watched Transformers, but if I'm not mistaken... doesn't Megatron turn into a silver coloured mech called 'Galvatron'? Perhaps this is post-Galvanized Megatron
