Sephiroth, is it:
Sef-i-roth?
or
Sep-i-roth?
Havn't you ever heard One Winged Angel or watched Advent Children!?
It's Sef-i-roth in english but it's real name (the japenese one) is pronounced Sef-i-ros.
yeh i say sef-i-roth
and i started that ffx thread 2 :D
lets try some others:
yuf-fy or yoo-fy
ti-fa or tee-fa
gil or jil
mid-gar or mij-ar
come on play along :D
yuf-fy or yoo-fy= both (i alternate)
ti-fa or tee-fa= tee-fa
gil or jil= gil
mid-gar or mij-ar= mid-gur
I pronounce his name Se-fi-rot. One-Winged Angel pronounces it Se-fi-ros, and AC Japanese had both Se-fi-ros and Se-fi-ro-su (sorry if these phonetics go wrong since I'm quite bad at explaining the English phonetics since Finnish pronouncing is so much different).
Yuffie: Yoof-fee
Tifa: Tee-fa
Gil: gil (uhh...)
Midgar: Mid-gar (gar as in garment or garden)
se-fi-roth
Yuffie: Yuf-fy
Tifa: Tee-fa
Gil: Jil
Midgar: Mid-jar
se-fi-roth
Yuffie: Yoo-fy
Tifa: Tee-fa
Gil: Gill
Midgar: Mid (as in middle) gar (as in garden)
se-fear-roth
yuf-fee
tee-fah
gill
mid-gar
I pronounce them the easy way (well it is for me anyway):
Sephiroth: Sep-i-roth
Tifa: Tiff-ah
Yuffie: Yuff-ee
Gil: gil...
Midgar: Just how it's spelled, man.
Yeah, that's his kana. They don't really have the 'th sound (or maybe it's the same as the 's' sound, just go ask Kishi or something) so they make due with that.Quote:

To all you suckas out there it is se-fi-roth not se-pi-roth.K
i pronounce it sep-proff
Sef-ir-oth is how i say it
I pronounce Sephiroth "Bobby"
Yuffie "Cataclysm"
And Tifa "Teeeeeeeeee-fuh!"
I've never heard anyone call him Seppyroth... Thats just crazy talk!
Um... I just have one thing to point out to those who say his name Sep-i-roth. THERE'S A FREAKING "H" IN THERE. Honestly, "ph", is pronounced "f" in English. No ifs ands or buts. It is the only rule in the English language that I can think of that does not have an exception. Anyways, moving on.
Yuffie- You-fi
Tifa- Tee-fa
Gil- ... Gil? (like a fish's gill)
Midgar- Mid (as in middle)-gar (as in garden)
I'm pretty sure that that's exactly how all of them are pronounced anyways. All throughout DoC they say You-fi. All thought AC they say Tee-fa. As far as I know, it goes against every rule in the English language to say "Jill" instead of "Gill". And, all through DoC they say Midgar. Not to mention if you compare the English spelling to the Japanese kana it becomes quite apparent that it's pronounced Mid-Gar. I've got a new one to add to this though. How do you pronounce:
Nibelheim
I've always said Nai-bell-hime, but apparently the official pronunciation, as said in DoC, is Nee-bell-hime.
FF7 doesn't have very complex names.
ph together make an f sound. So sefiroth! naturally
Se-fi-roth.
Yuff-ee. (Square can DIAF if they think it's You-fee)
Tee-fa
Gil (Hard 'g')
Mid-garr
Nibble-hime
So,
Jew-non or Jun-on?
Ree-no or Ren-no?
Woo-tai or Whut-ai?
I've always pronounced it sef-i-ros, but im not sure. I think that sounds the best
i pronounce it how its said in AC.
Sef-i-roth.
Sef-ir-oth.
How can you pronounce a "p" sound in it when "h" follows directly after? Oh well, that's how I say it.
Sep-hi-roth.
Yuff-ee.
Tee-fa
Gil.
Mid-garr.
Nibble-hime.
Jew-non.
Ree-no.
Woo-tai.
For a long time I pronused Sephiroth as
Sep-mone-the-onth
God what went through my brain then....
any way, I pronuce it Sep-i-roth
I already stated how I pronounce Sephiroth, Yuffie, Tifa, Gil and Midgar. As for the rest:
Nee-bell-hime
You-non
Reh-noh
Woo-tai ("tai" as in the word "tie")
