Obviously this thread is about none other than Michael Jackson. I've heard recently that he's working on making a comeback - something about him looking for producers and such. What do you think his chances are of getting a comeback? Will he ever be "The King of Pop" again, or are those days just over?

whoever, wherever he is i will always love and respect the stuff he produced during the thriller days and even with jackson 5 his music was pretty awesome! I dont really see where he'll go (musically) but i dunno i think those days have already passed but you never know!

He's got a lot of effort to go to. The major majority of kids today consider him to be that wierd white guy who was arrested for child molestation, as oppose to his self-designated "King of Pop" title. I imagine his main reason for doing this is his apparent Bankruptcy.
His music is brilliant though, and I hope that the comeback goes well for him. :)Quote:

His music can be good at times, but I doubt he'll be able to make a good comeback.
Actually, the "Invincible" album you're talking about debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, sold 5.4 million copies in the US and 8 million copies worldwide - and only one worldwide single was released from the album. In comparison Justin Timberlake's album "Justified", which is widely considered as a big succes, never got the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart, sold 3.5 million copies in the US and 7 million worldwide - and 4 worldwide singles were released from that album... Not to be rude, but I don't know who told you that the "Invincible" album flopped - it just didn't sell as much as he had anticipated.Quote:

The problem isn't the album doing badly per say, it's the fact that it's sold a fraction of the copies expected of a Jackson release. In that sense, it is very much a flop.

However much I'd like him to make a comeback, its very unlikely. With all the reception hes got recently, he might as well stay locked indoors as he'll get nothing but harassment if he comes out. Hes got all the money he'll ever need anyway, I say he should lay back and chill for the remainder of his life...

While he might attempt to make a comeback at some point in the future, his reputation has been damaged by the accusations of child molestation, not to mention his eccentric behaviour in recent years. After all that, his popularity could never be restored to the kind of level it was at the peak of his career. It's a shame, since he's made some great music in the past, but people simply don't respect him any more, and when the public's image of you is so negative it's almost impossible to recover.
Since when are critics always right? I didn't find Invincible bad, but it wasn't as good as his other CD's. However, he's set the bar pretty high. He can't always live up to that bar. But, he has a huge worldwide fanbase and I doubt that any music he'll release will flop money wise.Quote:

Uh, Seifer, that's the thing about child predators. They blend in. The creepy guys are very rarely the real dangers. Ok, to be fair, they might very well be serial killers or "normal" rapists. But child molesters learn how to blend in real quick. Don't for a second believe you can spot them for what they are. Plus child molesters usually target people close to them. The kids of friends and relatives. Or get into a pediatric field like preschool teacher or pediatrician. Disturbing, ain't it. Which makes Jackson too creepy to be a child molester. Insane, on the other hand, is perfectly likely.
As for Jackson's career, he's been surprisingly low-key about his music. Compared to other 80s pop stars (*cough* madonna *cough*), his ego is pretty low. As for a comeback, I don't think it'll happen. Could be entirely wrong. But his reputation is pretty much devestated for all time.
Meh. I don't think he'll ever reclaim the level of success he once had. His early music was brilliant, but the later stuff just, in my opinion, sucks.

i totally could not care less...he made a lot of good music, most of it before he turned 21 in my opinion...but that was an age ago
Waaay past his used by date. He made some awesome music and he had some of the best dance moves, but the things he has done outside music made him famous for the wrong things.

So what if the guy's eccentric? That doesn't automatically make him guilty.
Not guilty does not equal innocent. Not guilty just means there wasn't enough evidence to get a guilty conviction. ^_^
It equates to innocent, though, by a lot of other standards (presumption of innocence and double jeopardy are two that come to mind). They only say "not guilty" instead of "innocent" because the standard of proof is on the prosecution. However, after a not guilty verdict, under the law the defendant is innocent (unless one of the few loopholes to double jeopardy - such as new evidence - comes up).Quote:

I love how people make legal decisions based on watching a bit of the trial on TV or hearing about it on the news that they consider better than decisions made by a jury who had to sit through the entire trial, hear all of the evidence, and then deliberate for days.
Jackson was hassled because Mums knew Jackson paid 4 million to a family who took him to court accusing him of child molestation. Being the bitches that they were, they claimed that Jackson molested there child, thinking Jackson would willingly give more money away.
I do think Jackson is innocent for the charges that were put against him, but I do think he was troubled in some way. His obvious addiction to plastic surgery, and the fact he has aload of porn in his house. Oh, and dangling his baby out of a window :greenie:
I still love him though, its sad to see him labeled as the pedophile instead of the king of pop. Back in the days of Thriller, he was kicking so much ass it was untrue.
