Best Summon Name (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO READ IF INCAPABLE OF INTELLIGENT EXPRESSION!)

Aeon, Guardian Force, Eidolon, Esper, or Avatar?

Aeon.

Plain old 'summon', Totema, Phantom Beasts, Esper, and Genjuu are also some good choices. :cat:

I dunno...they all do the job of 'mysterious being' quite well. I'll just say Esper, since that word is pretty awesome. It's great they're choosing it for FFXII.

Eidolon is a greek origin word at its finest. It just has such a majestic feel to it. Seriously, smurf "ghost", everyone should call apparitions eidolons.

Though by definition it would've fit the story of summons in FFX more than FFIX. Ah well.

I just call them 'Summons' but my prefered name would be 'Espers'.

I would say it all depends on the game as to what they actually are. FFVI they are simply the essense of a once sentiant being. Final Fantasy X, they are a projected image from a fayths dream or some[img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img]. Either way, I do not think that one word would fit all these instances as well as our plain Jane 'Summon'.

seems as their all similar (apart from FF12s new ones but ive not played FF12.) i dont really have a favourite. i guess espers because they can do damage as well as tons of different and useful stuff. there nearly nothing the espers cant do.

Eidolon sounds overwrought to me. I didn't like itxD Aeon sorta fit with the 'taking normal things and warping them' feel of ffx (like with fayth etc). GF was fairly lame. Call beast as well. Esper is my favorite? :D E.S.P. er?

Aeon is my favourite. My favourite summon name is Quezacotl.

My original message was extremely long and included the original meanings of each word--save "GF," as it is an original title--however, the forum was fighting me on the structure of the post. In the end--after an hour of combat with the forum--I gave up and just posted the individual titles. Eidolon seems pretty popular. I myself, am undecided. I do favor Aeon, however for the longest time I was partial to "GF."

Which game called the summoned monsters Avatars? That's quite a nice name. I usually like calling the summoned monsters just "Summons", but if I had to choose from your list, I think Aeon was also a good word for summoned monsters.

FFXI called them Avatars.

Esper is commonly used in science fiction as a junk word.

I like Eidolon there's just nothing better and Carbuncle is my fave.

Eidolon is the best to read and understand the mystic property of Summons, Aeon is the best to hear, and Guardian Force is by far the worse. XD

EDIT: Favorite summon names are Alexander (duh), Anima, Valefor, Fenrir and Atomos.

I like the word Esper best, but I normally call them summons or GFs.

I always thought that "Jesus litle angels" would be pretty good.

Ever since Aeon Flux first aired on MTV's Liquid Television, Aeon has been one of my favorite words.
