My cousin asked me the same thing how do we know that Squall is Laguna's and Raine's son? I don't remember to hear it on the game... just when Laguna or smbdy else says that he looks like his mother
It's pretty obvious that Squall is the product of Raine and Laguna in the game, in the dialogue. I don't know the quotes by heart, but Laguna does reveal this.

It is hinted several times throught the game. It is never stated that Laguna is Squall's father, but it is hinted pretty heavily.Quote:

i know its obvious the last time i played through the whole game was a few years ago so i was jus tryin to remember if there was anything where it actually said that laguna was squalls father....i know youd have to be like a complete retard not to...i am tryin to piece together my blotchy memory of the game and i think the part with the orphanage where laguna asks where ellone is....why didnt he say like hey squall...come to daddy....heheheheheheheheh....

It's a whole bunch of little things, as I recall.
Stuff like the Moombas recognise people by their blood, and the Moombas call Squall by Laguna's name indicating a relation. The name thing, of course. There are a few more, I just can't remember.
That's the age of Laguna in the dream sequence/flashback bits. Laguna's much older when Squall meets him in Esther.Quote:

There's no explicit proof that Squall is the son of Laguna/Raine. However, the references strongly suggest this is the case.
one of the last times Ellone sends Squall into the past, they have a conversation afterwards.
She says how Laguna went out looking for Ellone and he didn't know Raine was dying, and how she kept calling out to him b/c she wanted him to see her new born.
After Laguna defeated Adel he sent Ellone back to Windhill, not knowing that Raine was dead, and she was sent to an Orphanage.
I'm guessing the newborn would have been sent to the Orphanage along with Ellone, so one of them must have been Laguna's child.
Squall was the one always "hogging Sis" as Quistis said and when she left Squall, he was the most devastated, always wondering where 'Sis' went.
Of course they all called her Sis, so his referring to her as that doesn't suggest it. But all those things pieced together strongly suggests it.
I was wondering the same question myself.
I knew Squall and Laguna were son & father but couldn't explain it either.
But this summer, I've found something interesting while I was playing it again.
In the D-District Prison, Squall is locked up in the torture room. And the Moomba says: ''Laguna!''
Because the Moomba reconised Squall as Laguna.
Confused? Of course. Let me explain:
1- In the Shumi Village after you receive the Pheonix Pinion, the shumis are asked to finish the statue, if you do the second side quest, you will see Laguna trying to make the Moomba talked and all he learned was ''Laguna!''.
2- When you Rescue and Liberate a moomba in Estar (Laguna Flashback) he roams free and say,''don't be caught again''.
... Galbadians problably took him, in any case.
Problem Solved:
Moomba description: A Moomba reconised a person by licking their blood...
Meaning, they have the same Blood, is that's the case, they are, without a doubt, father and son.
Unless someone wants to deny that...

There's also a indirect but meanful part, the translation of LIBERI FATALI is "fated children". Wouldn't that kind of make a reference on how Squall was the fated children? I mean, Laguna could have married Julia and all, but by the destiny/fate/karma/whatever he ended up having Squall with Raine, and then Squall met Rinoa, which could have possibly been his sister.
