Squall is just a jerk for no reason, while Tidus has actual problems (ie an abusive father who turns out to be the destroyer of Spira, I think we'd all be pretty upset about that). ...Now that I think about it, this one's kind of a toss-up. Squall can junction 6 ways to sunday and become insanely powerful, but Tidus can break the damage limit and do 99999 damage per hit with Blitz Ace. I think this is probably one of the only hard to call FF matchups.

tidus would be doing like 9999 damage while squall is still doing 200 some damage. whats crazy is that tidus can go over 9999 making it a guarantee that no matter how high squalls HP is...tidus will kill him in one hit.

Squall can use GF to absorb the damage, then capitalize by attacking while Tidus's overdrive meter is at 0.
gf's HP can only go up to 9999 also...so fine. it'll take tidus two hits to kill him. if tidus's overdrive meter is at 0 and squall attacks...tidus will take it. he'll take all the 500 damage or whatever squall throws at him and attack squall with his 9999 damage.Quote:

While I like Tidus better, I think Squall would win a fight between the two as Tidus is more of a normal person and Squall is a mercenary with training.

when i do VS things i dont do it stat wise. i you judged strength by stats, tidus could probably beat ultimecia, kuj and sephiroth at the same time (which we all know through common sense that he cant.) think about it storyline wise. seems as squall has the power of the GFs id say he would win. hes also a trained fighter.

as for your reasons why you think squall would win. it depends on what point of the game or whatever they meet. plus, i'm not to sure if this is 100% positive...but somewhere in ff10, i swear you could use one of those ability spheres to attack first also...same thing as an inititive.

I would pick Tidus here. Not only does Tidus have Squall beat on the level of athletic ability and agility, but he's also got the motivation and spunkness to keep his head up in the fight even if Squall would deliver a strong blow to Tidus. When I picture Squall taking on someone in a one-on-one battle, I seem to refer back to the opening of FFVIII and the fight vs. Sefier. I can see Tidus landing a few more gashes on Squall's face.

Out of Tidus and Squall I say Squall. Squall could just say 'whatever' and Tidus would most likely start crying because he was getting no attention. Then Squall would walk over and shove his sword in Tidus's heart and then pull the trigger blowing up Tidus's heart.
Tidus. With Caladbolg and Blitz Ace Squall would have no chance.
I think a more interesting battle would be Seymour and Kuja.

Why are people always comparing in-game battle mechanics and the damage the characters do to show how powerful they are? It doesn't make the character any weaker if the game doesn't allow you to do 999,999,999 damage. :rolleyes2 I think Squall would win just because he's more trained. Tidus did become a guardian, but he still had no proper battle training, and he couldn't even lift the sword at the beginning of FFX. Tidus has some strong points too, such as his agility and speed. If this turned into a popularity contest, this may give you some kind of an idea about who's more popular.
I think squall would win. He was all crunk an mean and like when ever people asked him something or talked to him he would just sit there an say "......" While Tidus was always yellin an cryin an was to much of a pussy to tell Yuna how he felt bout her, an squall could slash at him an if Tidus blocked it or jumped out of the way Squall could just shoot his ass!!:D
