squall is a great character and theres nothing wrong with liking him. he is an interesting,deep and believeable character.
Going to agree with *~Angel Wing~* and say Squall, but also Zell, Rinoa, Laguna, Selphie and Seifer.
Laguna and to a lesser extent Seifer were the only really decent characters in this game. The rest were either 2D, poorly executed or underdeveloped.

All the other characters are fine i suppose and my favourite is Zell.

I really don't know. I've played 2 discs, and still have no definite favorites.
I like Selphie, she's very sparky.

Squall, Seifer, Zell, Rinoa are my favorites. It's been so long since I played that game, but those characters always run through my mind when I hear Final Fantasy 8.

Seifer rocks! He is definately the best character! And his gunblade is far better than Squall's one.

Seifer. I took three tests over a few weeks and every single one put me as Seifer. Whether that's a good thing.. *shrug* But I like him anyways :P
And Edea is awesome too. Who ever designed her outfit should be given a medal.
In case everyone didn't already know, I like Selphie. She's the coolest, followed by Edea, Zell, Laguna, and Rinoa.
