So did anyone else catch the premeire of this new show? It's on NBC Monday nights, and I've gotta say... it's just so damn cool.
I loooove Hiro. :D
And I love Jess! I mean. Not Jess. He used to be Jess on Gilmore Girls. What's his name on this show? Peter? The dude who thought he could fly but... you know.
I liked the twist at the ending, I didn't see it coming. And that's pretty rare for me. I kinda feel bad for him though, cause he was all, "yay! flying!" and then it was all, "oh wait, nevermind". I think his gift is that he's an empath or something along those lines that's not flashy like his brother's gift/power/thingy.
I can't wait until Greg Grunberg shows up in the next episode.
PS. I think by "cool" you mean hugely geeky. :p
I caught this show and I thought it was pretty awesome. My two favorites are the same as Miriel's, Hiro and the flying-but-not-flying guy.
I'm really interested to see where it all goes, what with the painter's prophecy of huge booms and all.
I'm curious about the mirror lady too. Her power seems to be "freak out on everybody".
HIRO ftw.
I saw the replay on Sci-Fi tonight...AWESOME. The girl with the fire was really cool too...thoug I cringed with the garbage disposal...UGH.
I am just wondering what the bad guy's are going to be like. They'll have to be pretty uber to challange the heroes once they get organized. Because they set those heroes up with some deadly powers. Especially time/space travel, that is a tough power to beat.
For real.
What happened tonight? I missed it...had to work. :P
Wow. I just saw the second episode and had the first one explained. That's seriously more gruesome than I would have expected for prime-time non-cable show.
But it was awesome. Hiro rocks.
For those who want it, here is the first episode, courtesy of NBC.com. It's in three parts.
I really like this show, and it seem to surprise me at every turn, which is pretty awesome. But yeah, like Void said, I was surprised by how graphic it was at times, especially in tonight's episode. (SPOILER) Missing brains and sawed off skulls = O_o. Still, very interesting and very cool. The mirror lady's scenario really freaks me out though.
So now I have another show to keep track of. Man I wish I had Tivo. :(
I think this second episode kinda didn't work as well as the first episode. But I think this might be cause the first two episodes, the pilot and this episode, were originally supposed to be aired back to back last week. Maybe it would have worked better that way.
But I'm still interested to see where this goes.
*sigh* I'll have to watch it Friday, then. If work calls me in, I'll tell them I'm having a religious experience or something. :)
Telekinesis was evident, That could explain the freezing too. Heat is caused by increased movement of molecules, cold is caused by decreasing movement. Silar mentioned "hunger" in his message to the Prof. I got the feeling he (SPOILER)ate the frozen guy's brains just like the victim intended to eat those Fuit Loops in front of him. Blah!
It's a decent show. The main problem with it, I think, is that none of the 'heroes' have powers that are at all fresh. Of course, I guess it's hard to come up with a superhero ability these days that hasn't been done in comics already. The premise is all right, but the show isn't nearly as well done as, say Studio 60. But it's hard to be as good as Aaron Sorkin, so maybe that's unfair. :p
I hated the pilot... but the pilot made the second episode look like genius.
The truth of the matter seems to be that Aaron Sorkin is making a show about making an hour long drama and not really about live TV or SNL or anything else. Not surprisingly, Sorkin doesn’t seem to have the slightest grasp of how live TV works, aside from a few trips to 8H in New York on fact finding missions. I can forgive stupid details, like all the offices having floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the studio (the green room at SNL does look like that… but it is the only space that does). But the misunderstanding of the writers and the talent is horrible.
Worst of all, his cast of funny people are not funny. And they aren’t non funny in the way some comics are all serious in real life and turn it on for the camera. They are dramatic actors… all except D.L. Hughley, who seems to be trying to give up his comedy roots.
This is a bad, completely self-indulgent – it’s more about Sorkin and his genius than it was last week – crap that may win an award for the most actors who have unpleasant looking skin damage from the sun.
This is sort of what I thought as well. We don't really know everything about all of them, but yeah it's kinda been done before. But then again, when I sat back and tried to think of an original superpower, I couldn't think of anything. Comic books and other forms of media have sorta snatched them all at one point or another X_x. Or I'm just not creative, which is most likely the case.
I think my favorite is Peter. I'm glad to see he can fly as well and his brother didn't steal the whole deal. He's so nice :jess:
I want to watch the show and get into it, but I watched too late into the first episode and I'm so confused now. :(
Also, it was so good to see Nora Zehetner guest star on the show. I think she's one of the prettiest, ever. Like a puppy!
I think Niki is kind of a cross between the Hulk, Jekkyl and Hyde, and The Shadow.
The mirror image doesn't seem to have an animal/beast level intelligence like the Hulk or Hyde had. It's just a more powerful dark aspected mirror image of Nikki that seems to have a some of the same aspects to it that The Shadow had.
The show isn't the first of it's kind, it's just the first to use the Deus Ex Machina super-powers found mostly in comics on a Network TV series.
Chrono-kenesis, Procognition, Healing Factor, Union-Powers, Telepathy, Dimensional Crossing Personas.
The characters are pretty much typical character types.
Cheerleader who is more concerned about popularity, and for some reason is extremely fragile. When she was struck by the football player (and I still can think of a logical reason why except..) breaks her neck. Simply another blatant attention-shocker to her 'amazing' power. Girl really needs to up her iron and calcium intake.
My only problem is that I having trouble seeing the show get past it's initial premise of saving the world from a apparent nuclear catastrophe in New York.
Anyway, I'm willing to give it a chance... It's got my attention. I just hope it goes better then Kring's last tv shows...
So far it has me interested. Hiro is great, and the whole NY explosion thing should keep them busy for a while. The acting isn't that good but I'll take it.
Coming up with original powers would be extremely difficult and just unnecessary. The point of the show is not about the next batch of costumed crime fighters joining together to save the world. It is about how normal people would react to getting such unique gifts.
Hiro = cute cute cute. Unfortunately he has to save New York from a nuclear missle :(
Peter = *sexes*, 'nuff said.
Niki = Her story so far has been so creepy
Claire = When she stuck her hand in the garberator <3
Anyways, my favourite characters aside, has anyone noticed the helix design showing up alot. It was in the code on Suresh's computer, the pool vacuum was arranged in the shape of it at the murdered family's home, one of Isaac's pictures was of it. HMMMM?
I missed the preview for next week's episode (#3), someone fill me in on what it showed?
I also like how gory and graphic the show is, it's excellent.
EDIT: And I've deduced that Peter's power is stealing other people's powers, kinda like Rogue of X-Men. I mean, after he touched Nathan he could fly, then after he touched Isaac he drew the picture of him flying from the edge towards Nathan and that wound up happening. Coincidence? I think not.
Good call on Peter. You might be right.
My friend has been raving about this, but I still haven't caught it. I'd really like to check it out, though. Maybe I'll hit up the torrent sites.
Are they going to show the second episode again on Friday like they did last week?
I think so. You can also get it at NBC.com.
ROCK ON
I'm pretty sure you can also catch it on Friday nights on Sci-Fi.
It's on at 7 pm, I think
haha I made a topic on this!
But oh dear god! This is one of the best series I've ever seen!!!! My favorite is Hiro as well! And just watching the (mirror) lady drives me insane! Isn't this shoe intense?!
Just watched it myself. I'm amused by the fact that (SPOILER)A stick in the head can stop cheerleader girl (Claire?) from functioning but her entire chest open does not.
Wow, I am thoroughly impressed with this show. It's nothing like I thought it would be. Yeah, the general premise and the powers aren't all that original, but they're going in a totally different direction with it than I imagined. There's definitely something to be said of such a cliche and used story to be redone in such an unpredictable way.
My favorite at this point is Nikki. That alter-ego is INTENSE.
(SPOILER)It stabbed her brain. That's a pretty delicate organ. Her chest wasn't as bad, it's just sliced skin thats been peeled back.
Ok after watching three episodes I can tell that the writing and acting isn't that great. Not terrible, just sort of average. However, the storyline is intriguing enough to keep me watching.
If this show doesn't make it the Japanese guys should get their own series. Think about it. One has the power to teleport and stop time. The other is just a regular guy. Together they travel the world saving people. What a great show that would be!
The cheerleader annoys me. How the hell can falling on a tree stump penetrate your skull?
Yeah, I'd be so happy just watchin Hiro and his friend go on adventures. And it's *so* nice that someone is actually happy about their powers. Not all gloomy like everyone else. Not just on the show but heroes in general. Super heroes never revel in their powers. But Hiro is all, "yippeeeee!" That's so awesome. I want to give him a hug.
Hiro's power seems to be a bit darker than it initially seems though. By following the comic, they actually caused the near-accident from which he saves the little girl. Only because Hiro told Ando to stop the van, which he tried to do by stepping out into the road in front of it, did the van actually go astray, nearly killing the girl. She would never have been in danger if they hadn't done that.
This of course hints that Hiro is about to smurf up big time.
Love the show so far, and like everyone else I like Hiro the most.:)
I can't wait to see how they are all going to meet up, because most of them having a small connection to each other in some way, shape or form.
Ex: Hiro's friend having that video of Nikki on his Ipod.:)
The Neighbor Girl working the Mohinder... She's a mole, working for someone to spy on Mohinder... I just know it.
We are a bunch of Hiro fanpeoples. :D
(SPOILER)For some reason I have this idea that her body should regenerate and push it out if her healing power is that strong.
she's not that strong and if she was it kinda takes the fun out of her character.
There is no fun in her character. She shoulda stayed dead.
I'm excited to see how they start tying all the characters stories and bringing them together. I got a kick out of how Hiro's friend was watching Niki's webcam on his Ipod...:)
This week's episode was awesome. I'd say the best so far.
Man, these writers sure know how to make some cliffhangers.
I cannot wait for the next episode.
Cheerleader is hardcore.
Another good episode, things are progressing at a nice pace. More in-depth with some people's powers this time around (Niki2, Isaac). LOVED the Rain Man homage with Hiro & sidekick, and the alley scene. I get really jazzed when people finally meet, I liked that Peter and Mohinder are finally together.
I hear Rena Sofer is supposed to be showing up soon as Nathan's wife.
4 episodes in and things are begining to pick up....very interesting....and yeah that cheerleader is hardcore....way to kill 2 birds with one stone (SPOILER)i.e killing boy and car!
And woah what a cliffhanger! Nikki's power is pretty unique though, Hiro is friggen awesome lol! This episode in general....really good!
Lol, I loved it when Hiro walked in and (SPOILER)busted out in plain english.
I really like this show. But too bad I started watching yesterday. Its still awesome, my brother filled me in on it. I loved the part when (SPOILER) Claire ran into a wall for what that guy did to her. That was awesome! But so far, my favorite is Hiro. I dont know why but I like em lots! And was that him, at the end when he (SPOILER) was talking to Peter in english? I didnt really get that part. xD.
son! I didn't even realise that he wasn't speaking Japanese :greenie: The end of that episode made me all "wtfz".
And you all need to learn that Hiro's friend's name is Ando, honestly, a character as hilarious as him needs to get some recognition instead of just "sidekick".
Also, Micah will have powers if they are genetic, due to the fact that both his mother (Niki) and father (D.L.) have abilities.
My favourite characters are Peter (because he's so goddamn sexy), Claire (because her power is <3), and Hiro/Ando. I lolled so hard when Hiro got cracked in the face...I'm kind of sad that Hiro becomes some sort of "crazy-samurai serious man" instead of the happy-go-lucky Hiro that we all know and love.
Alright, who saw the episode last night? The Hiro that Peter talked to, by the way, from the future with a samurai sword. Kickass.
Also, Nathan pwning the bad guy by flying away with the quickness = win
I like present Hiro with all his goofyness over future Samurai Hiro. I like the giggling dork, not the perfectly English speaking hardcore, dude I'm here to give you a message, guy. :(
Well, I liken it to the Days of Futures Past timeline from the X-Men comics. Obviously, if something is gonna go wrong, people are going to change. So we just have to hope it doesn't go wrong. :(
I haven't watched this show yet... I can never seem to catch it. I do know bits and pieces of the core plot, for example the Japanese guy who can control time.
He has a blog.
http://blog.nbc.com/hiro_blog/
In the most recent one, he admits his used his time powers to cheat at gambling in las vegas, and feels guilty. So now: "I need to keep asking myself, what would Chrono do in this situation?". Assuming he meant "Crono", I smiled at that.
Who is Chrono or Crono, a person? Anyways, I watched that marathon one to beginning to end. The "I HAVE BEEN SINNED PART" really scared me and was completly confusing. I'm not sure what the key is for again. oh on the laptop it isn't gibberish if you look a bit farther away from the screen you see its part of the book cover that flying guy has
'Chrono' seems to be a reference to Chrono Trigger and it's time-travelling storyline.
Here's a whacked out theory for you:
Sylar is Peter from the future.
Sylar seems to have many different powers. Perhaps in the future as Peter gains better control over his powers he is able to use them at will. He also becomes evil or insane and the rest of the Heroes band together to stop him. In the moment of his defeat, Peter uses Hiro's time travel abilities to go back in time. There he starts killing all the Heroes before they band together to stop him.
Is 'Time Compression' involved in that theory?
Hiro did mention (SPOILER)that Peter looked different without the scar. O_O The only power Sylar displayed that hasn't been displayed by anyone else is the telekinesis, but there's plenty of time to remedy that.
We have seen Sylar to have several very different powers, which include flight, telekenesis and possibly tissue regeneration. One explaination could be that Sylar has very similar powers to Peter, some kind of power mimicry. Apparently Sylar has found a way to permenantly absorb the powers of others, possibly by removing their brian and infusing their DNA with his? (or eating it?)
After last night's episode of Hiro's time travel, seeking out Peter, it made me suspect that Sylar is actually Peter from the future. Peter in the future, somehow managed to teleport himself back in time to the present (with Hiro's Powers) however, back in the present, he is unable to return to the future (since Hiro is not present in the present Peter is in). He seeks out the elder Suresh and learns a great deal of his power and even how to permenantly absorb powers of others. He uses his research to try to amass as much power as possible, by locating as many "special people" as possible, while assuming the identity of his first victim, the real Paul E/F. Sylar.
The future Hiro and other Heroes do not know that the future Peter has travelled to the past and became Sylar. Only Hiro himself (with his abilities) has noticed that the Time space continium has been changing. He travels back in time to warn the good Peter that something will happen to Claire after which will make Sylar almost invincible (hence save the cheerleader) and start the chain of events that lead to an apocalyptic future (hence save the world).
Go Hiro.
However, the multiple personality lady's only power so far seems to be multiple personalities. The druggie/artist/prophet is cool, too.
Ah yeah. I forgot about the artist, he was mad cool... hmm no corpal tunnel for him. The woman with two people in her (I cal her other side the "ego") I don't really understand her power much though...
Paro, your theory isn't entirely ludicrous, but I don't think that's a direction that would make sense for this show.
The episodes keep getting better, I think this show has promise.
zomg, someone was right about (SPOILER)Eden!
I just saw the new one yesterday. Apparently, the dual-personality woman gets insane strength when her other personality takes over.
Also, I thought her incorporeal ex-husband is pretty cool.
Maybe that Nuclear Bomb that's supposed to destroy New York isn't a bomb after all...
Okay, just throwing this out there, but remember what Radioactive Man said to FBI Lady when she threatened to shoot him? Maybe he'd blow up? Well, maybe he will. Maybe he ends up being the mushroom cloud.
Paro you sure have no lack for theories.
These last couple episodes have been kind of stale. It seems like the writers had a great idea for the start, and likely have a great idea for the finish, but don't have much for the in between. I like what's going on with the cop, and Sareesh (not in this episode :(), and of course Hiro (ver little in this episode), but I don't like the Simone/Peter interaction and I think Nikki's storyline is boring. I'm not really sure where she fits into all of this.
I think that the show's pace is actually fast- maybe TOO fast for a season-long series; things like the revelation of Eden being "evil" or the Homecoming thing happening on episode 9, came faster than I expected. Let's hope it doesn't lose steam too soon.
I was surprisingly entertained by the new stuff on the Petrellis in this episode. At first I didn't like these characters much, but this ep made them much more interesting. Now we know that Nathan has a wife that was paralyzed in a car accident which might have been his fault; this both explains his affair with Nikki but also makes him a bigger dick. Or does it? His wife seems to be the manipulative type too; she agrees to his exploting his family tragedies, even hers, for his campaign. Though she seemed mad at his infidelity, it looks like she can tell he's lying to her, but is taking it in stride... Btw, am I the only one who gets a bad vibe from their mother as well? She came across as kinda cold when she revealed Peter's father's suicide to him, and seems to agree to all the family manipulations as well. She may be the reason Nathan is who he is- a man who believes in doing whatever it takes for power, but isn't quite as unfeeling as he thinks he is. Peter using the interview, and his own "mental" problems, to save his brother from an scandal AND get him to cooperate with him, was brilliant- about time we saw him be smart and daring as well! Yeah, I find the Petrellis much more interesting now.
Speaking of Peter, I wonder if that dream/near-death sequence at the beginning is hinting at some spirituality in the show; since I hear that Mohinder will be having strange dreams as well.
On the other hand, the whole thing with Claire's tape was pathetic. How come her friend only now found the tape? (Unless Bennet arranged it that way.) Claire freaking out only alerted her brother that something was wrong. And what kind of brother is he that he's willing to staple his sister's hand to find out if she can regenerate? And why didn't Claire bitch-slap him right there like any normal person would do? (And she didn't have to remove the staple in front of him, either.) Then he runs out like he knows his sister is a brain-sucking alien or something -oh, and holds on to the tape to make money out of it, too!- Worst of all, just a few sad words from Claire get him to snap out of it. Sorry, this was pretty weak, especially next to the Petrelly stuff.
Speaking of weak stuff, once again, we have an unbelievable coincidence in that, not only DL happens to find a car accident that needs him to be a hero (right after he was arguing with his son what a good guy is) BUT Hiro happens by just in time to save them! OK, it was fun, but the way the characters keep meeting by circumstance is getting annoying. My big fear is that in the end, the World might be saved, not by the power or courage of the "heroes" but due to another coincidence. I'm starting to hope that there IS a higher power influencing events in the show...
And no, I don't think Radioactive Guy is Sylar, either. Too easy. And yes, it WAS stupid for Matt and the FBI woman to go looking for him on their own. Then again, going to see your bedridden wife when you can't control your lethal powers wasn't terribly smart, either. And how convenient was that Matt's telepathy helped to get him to reason by speaking for his wife- would YOU have believed him?
Matt's wife's affair DID surprise me, thought. Should've seen it coming, but I didn't.
And finally, we confirm that Micha has powers! Interesting ones, too. However, I see a tragedy in Nikki/DL/Micha's future. One of them will probably kill the other- or Nikki might commit suicide.
Don't you think that erasing people's memories of their being kidnapped is kinda pointless if you BRAND them in the process? If I wake up with a tattoo I don't remember getting, I would get mighty suspicious about it.
Claire cant think normally because despite what she or anyone else thinks she is different from everyone else in her family, can you imagine keeping a secret like that at her age, im surprised she didnt slip up earlier lol
The one person that is really bugging me is Peter, all his preaching about saving the world and how were all connected is really bugging me now, cool for a few episode but getting anoying now
and his brother is a dick, fullstop! Willing to put family aside, or rather selling them out to win an election and on top of that willing to exploit them to get the sympathy vote is just.....his just a dick! Doesnt really justify cheating with someone else!
These few episodes have been abit slow, the pacing for the characters is ok but the overall arc of the show is begining to slow down...alot...
episode 8 is pretty nuts. they are getting closer to showing Slylar!
I can't wait to see the climax of this save the cheerleader stuff. They better not two part it.
I am so god damn pissed off that Hiro can suddenly speak decent conversational English.
But I still love Hiro. <3
It's just the writer's I'm mad at.
Yeah that is kind of weird.
I wonder what's so special about Claire that they need her to save the world. If radioactive guy really is the one that blows up, maybe they need Claire because she will be able to approach him and stop him while remaining unharmed with her healing power.
I'm fairly interested in all the stories, even Nikki's. This show uses lots of a coincidences, as Paro pointed out, but eh, I have a high suspension of disbelief I guess. They have a lot of going on...I like it a lot so far :jess:
I wonder if all their children would have powers, because Nathan has kids, too. Just how many "Heroes" are there gonna be in the end :O_O:
I read in entertainment weekly that the show will be talking a a break on Dec. 4(new episodes return in January) so i think they'll leave us hanging. I also read that Hiro gets a "love intrest", my moneys on Charlie the waitress!!!
And I don't think Claires regeneragtion powers are strong enough to withstand a the effects of Ted's radiokinesis. Claire was taken out by a stick to the head and stayed dead until the stick was removed, if Ted blew up she wouldn't even leave dust.
Er, wait, I didn't mean him blowing up, I mean just the regular radiation he emits when he gets all emotional, but not actually blowing up in Claire's face and her surviving or something.
What I meant to say was before he blows up he would be giving out radioactive waves that would hurt any of the others but maybe not her. I dunno what I'm talking about, that's why it's best to whistle and pretend I'm a child with special needs.
I hope Hiro saves the waitress and that is his love interest, too. They're cute :jess:
I wonder if Claire's head got chopped up, she'd simply regrow another one. Or if her powers are limited to things that are still attached to her body...
She wouldn't grow another head, she'd grow another body.
Oh, that makes sense.
I love Hereos, I only started watching it a few days ago, but I've seen all up to episode eight, I love Hiro, he is amazingly cute. I really can't wait to see the rest of it :D :D :D
Smile and Be happy
I wanted to start this from the beginning, but I just kept on missing it everytime. I finally got to see the last episode and I liked it, but of course, I'm kind of in the middle of the whole thing now. Rase, thank you for that link to NBC where I can see the other episodes. :)
You can also go to Weeteevee.com
They have like every show.
Well, a new episode is on tonight and I can't wait but I have a few questions:
a) How did Hiro and Ando know about Claire? In the beginning of last week's episode Hiro mentioned something about "we have to save the cheerleader!" before they stopped at the road-side deli.
b) When did Isaac get taken in by Mr. Bennet?
That aside, Hiroxwaitresss would be the cutest relationship EVER.
A few weeks ago the girl who works for Bennet (forgot her name), asked him after Sareesh left, what to do with the 'pre-cog' (Issac). He told her to bring him in. At the end of the episode you see her showing up at Issac's door.
Awesome episode. Best yet. I venture to even say the best thing I've seen on TV all season.
Hah! Finality my ass! I love how NBC hyped it up that this episode would be the one that finally revealed everything. In reality, it revealed just as much as every other episode while leaving just as many questions.
Don't get me wrong, the episode was great. This show is just the biggest plot-tease I've ever seen. These writers really know their cliffhangers.
You must not watch Lost.
I always wanted to watch Lost since my buddies always seem to raving about it. I remember I tuned in for one episode in the middle of the second season and while I was intrigued, I was also ridiculously confused. Same thing with 24.
Damn you television! Why'd you have to go and get good again?
Dammit! If they say "save the cheerleader, save the world" even ONE more time... *twitches*
Anyway, i thought it was a really entertaining episode. Although I'm a little bit lost as to how the whole Nikki, Jessica storyline fits into it all. Her story seams to be awkwardly placed and not really that well integrated.
This was the best episode of Heroes yet!
Now, I have a few theory's
- Matt Parkman and Theodore Sprague "lost" two days when they were abducted, and they both had two "hash marks" on their neck. It could be way of marking time or an indication of their power level. Perhaps it has something to do with the kind of exams performed on them?
thats about it......
Oh yeah, Claire is theoretically a permanent virgin because her hymen would continually grow back.
Great episode.
I do have a slight theory question for y'all -- could Claire survive having the top portion of her brain 'sliced' off by Sylar? It seems like her regenerative abilities are contingent on her consciousness.
i think we can officially confirm (for the upteenth time) that Peters brother is a jackass!
Awesome episode, still wondering how the save the world comes from the cheerleader bit...maybe if they didnt the father wouldve turned and hunted the "special" people!?
I don't think that Matt's ability is on par with the power of Ted's. Ted is far stronger.
Erm. Ok.Quote:

I don't think you will, Miriel. I think the "Save the Cheerleader" arc is officially over as of last night.Quote:

'Well I just saved the cheerleader. Time to save the world!'
Next episode we will find out about Hiro finally! :D
Did anyone notice that the picture of the dead cheerleader that Isaac drew was actually Jackie. If you look at it it's the part where Claire's dad walks in and it's Jackies body on the floor, maybe they were supposed to save her. It looks like that scene anyway, just a theory. :D :D :D
Smile and Be happy
I came up with this crazy theory in my sleep that (SPOILER)Sylar is Claire's dad (they both regenerate!), but then he would probably be averse to eating her brain. But then again he hasn't really gone for it yet, because he thought Jackie was the superhero and ate? her brain. I'm really excited for tonight's episode. I swear when (SPOILER)the black dude too cool for a name knocked out Sylar I exclaimed. I want to see his face.
I also want to see some twists that I can't predict how they will resolve. Peter miming Claire's powers was too easy to foresee.
I'm having fun panning out how Hiro's situation will work. (SPOILER)I am quite sure he will fail at rescuing whats-her-face, but the waitress mentions to Ando he disappears "about two weeks ago", so he might time-jump again and end up being that wicked samurai. Which means he wouldn't be cute anymore, so I'm sad, so I hope I'm wrong. :D
I don't think they were supposed to save Jackie. In fact, I doubt they can even stop the explosion, but then that gets into a lot of metaphysics concerning the nature of time and perception and I don't have the energy for that right now.
I don't think the show is that deep. I think they'll stop the explosion. But you never know.
The only outcome to Hiro's little blast to the past can be failure. If he managed to save the waitress, she never would have died in the first place. So it wouldn't make any sense for him to have succeeded in his goal. Which sucks cause I thought the waitress was cute and her power would be one I'd want myself.
As for Jackie. You KNEW she wasn't going to survive after she said that line, "we were BFFs". C'mon!
10 mins into it and "whoa".
I can't watch this show...cuts into my RAW time...but it looks cool! ...right?
I do. I'll watch pretty much anything with real or fake violence. But, this is the first time in like two months I had the chance to sit down and watch RAW so I jumped at it...now I remember why I am a TNA fan.
Okay, maybe it didn't give us everything we wanted but, good grief, I give the writers an A+ for explaining some things.
(SPOILER)
I knew from the moment that I saw him that Gabriel Gray was going to be Sylar. How does he accquire the powers? We don't know that yet. That's for a future episode. Gabriel seems to be highly intelligent and figured out how to siphon the powers from other Heros through their brains.
I was disappointed that Hiro couldn't change Charlie's fate. I think that somehow his emotional feelings for her got in the way. Hiro was about to kiss Charlie when he transported back to the future. When he realized what happened and tried to teleport again, he was unable to do so. I believe Hiro's emotions negated his power somehow. As for showing up back up at the diner having arrived by bus, that's being a little too picky IMHO. We don't know when he arrived back in Japan and it certainly took him a while to get to the U.S. They just left that out for the sake of time.
We don't know enough about Nathan and Peter yet truly. I think Nathan wants to protect his family's image too much. His father's death perhaps gave him an easy out from prosecuting Linderman.
We had no forward movement on whether Jessica shoots DL. There can only be so much in one episode. I don't think they will get rid of DL so easily.
The Haitan seems to be able to block the Heros' powers as seen with Eden. I thought that was cool. HRG is so calm when he was talking to her even when she tried to use her persusive power. He knew nothing would happen because the Haitian was there.
Sylar is now captive. What becomes of him? That remains to be seen. I can't wait to see what they will do with him. Will he escape somehow? Will they convince him to be a good guy? I doubt it. Sylar is too proud of being important and powerful.
I am looking forward to next week. But disappointed that it will be the last one until the new year. I love this show!
I think Peter will somehow run into the radioactive guy and gain his powers and then something will happen so Peter will blow up New York. Seems Peter can gain powers from people once has has touched them.
Hiro's time-traveling storyline plus his in-and-out accent is making me sad. :(
T_T
Just... T_T
Charlieeeeee. I liked her and Hiro.
That was a very nice episode. I was a little skeptical of a "six months ago" episode, but it revealed SO MUCH about quite a bit of the characters. (SPOILER)I really want to know more about Sylar now. Terrifying, and interesting. Yay!
I'm really interested in seeing where exactly Nikki/Jessica play into all of this with all the work they've put into her character.
Some thoughts:
Nikki/Jessica: I don't think that the dual personality thing is part of her power. Because what the hell kind of power allows you to absorb the personality of a dead sister? More likely, Nikki is someone is who is actually mentally ill (Dissociative Identity Disorder) but in ADDITION to her mental instability, she also has super human strength. I think the super strength is her power, the dual personality thing is just a normal psychotic break that probably resulted from the abuse of her childhood coupled with the trauma that came with the death of Jessica. So now we've got a super "hero" who is actually mentally unstable. Cool.
Hiro/Charlie: I am very sad that Charlie did not stick around to become a regular on the show, because her power was probably the one I admired the most. On the issue of Hiro and the time-traveling business. It's all pretty ridiculous. So many holes it might as well be swiss cheese. So yeah, I'm not even gonna get into all the paradoxes involved in Hiro's time-traveling because apparently, the writers aren't thinking about it as well. Let's just say I'm pretty disappointed with how they're carrying it out. And no way, no how can a Japanese guy who has lived his entire life in Japan come to learn English so quickly, and not only that but it is one of the most difficult things to lose an ACCENT so quickly. It might be possible that Hiro is just a natural at learning English. That's one thing. But to lose the Japanese accent so quicky? It's ridiculous and it takes me right out of the scene when he speak with near perfect English like he did right before Charlie kissed him. Also regarding the kiss, BOO! You hardly ever see inter-racial kissing on network TV. Let alone an Asian man kissing a white girl. Sucks to be Hiro.
Big Brother Petrelli: I loved the scene in the car. Talk about fight or flight response! Dang, that was great. It also explains pretty clearly why he's such a huge asshole and why he hates his ability so much. I mean imagine the guilt he must carry after what happened. He saved himself but left his wife to crash. Whether this was completely involuntary and instinct just took over, or some part of his mind knew he had to choose self-preservation over anything else, that must be quite a load to live with.
I'm telling you, Hiro stops time and spends ages and ages studying English. He lost the accent right after he stopped to make all the swans. He must have been reading a lot or something.
I'd say we know enough about how Sylar acquires his powers.
I also think Peter is the only one who can combat Sylar. I expect another showdown.
I agree with Miriel's conclusions on Nikki - I was thinking the same thing.
I'm really interested in Mr. Bennet and the Haitian now. Extremely fascinating.
Zach. :(
Zaaaaach!! :crying2:
I am distraught over what happened to Zach. I really liked his character, sucha sweetie.
And I liked Eden too and I'm sad that she's gone. But good for her for shooting herself in the head to keep Sylar from getting her power. At the very least, that was a good way for her to go out.
Poor Zach.
I'm also lamenting Eden :crying2:. And I was all happy that Claire had found such a meaningful friendship with Zach, too, and now he doesn't even remember ;_;...
I was pleased to seeThe HulkNikki and company in Peter's vision, because besides that whole thing with Nathan, Nikki's storylines have always seemed so separate from the others to me for some reason. I dunno, probly just me, but she never really seemed to fit into anything. Even though it was just some freaky vision thing, it was still nice to see them playing some sort of part with the rest of the crew I guess :O_O:
This show is awesome. What makes me sad is the fact that it won't be back til' January 22nd. :( But what I don't get was (SPOILER) You know how Sylar was caught right? Well, if he was in that little room thinger with the glass and everything? Well, why was it that when Eden tells him she wants him to kill himself, why was it that THEN he could break the glass? Why didn't he do it sooner? Or was it just part of his plan? xD.
ARGH, I was mad that Zach didn't remember anything.
And the another thing. I really hope Peter doesn't blow up, he's one of my favorites. ;___;
I got the impression that (SPOILER)every time Mr. Bennet talked with Sylar the Haitian was nullifying Sylar's powers, and since the Haitian was not there at the time, Sylar was able to use them.
Right now I'm curious about who Mr. Bennet was talking to one the phone and what the Haitian's motives are. Still, I'm pretty much happy with everything so far except the whole "waiting until January 22"" thing. I'm glad that the different characters are beginning to have interactions more and learning that they are not alone.
(SPOILER)it was because the haitian guy wasnt there to block his powers!
What an episode, of all people i didnt expect peter to be literally caught in the middle of the bomb story! Next to hero Eden was my favorite "hero"! I guess everyone is begining to do little heroic things now!
Cant wait till january!
But doesn't The Haitian only (SPOILER)block mind reading powers and make people forget? And not block other people's powers?
xD I'm just really curious. I've been reading the Heroes wiki too much.
I'm pretty sure he blocks them all. Remember in the flashback episode when Bennet meets Eden? Her power didn't work on him because he had his friend near.
NOPE. She gets the tattoo when Jessica takes over!
Interracial stuff is on TV all the time these days. Even on the very show you're complaining about! Nikki and the black guy, duh!
Oh :skull::skull::skull::skull: that's what happened. ;(
That doesn't contradict the theory that she's crazy.
Nikki and D.L. have never even kissed on the show have they? Of course there are interracial couplings but media that shows actual physical intimacy between people of different races is rare (unless it's on Grey's Anatomy, but they're freakin' awesome for breaking down those racial walls). How often do you see a Asian man kissing a white woman? Not very often, if ever.Quote:

I love Heroes ;-; I'm so addicted. I can't wait until the next episode!
Hiro is so cute <3 Maybe I do have a thing for Asian guys after all ^.^ He makes me want to pat his head and smush his face into a wall x) In a good way ^_^
i saw the first episode while doing a final project for school
on a projector screen in a room
we streamed it off the internet
it was pretty good
Why haven't you seen the rest, you hedonist >:>O
Umm xD Hedonist just seems like the cool word to call people nowadays. I acutally do know what that means.
But I found out yesterday that the next new Heroes episode isn't until January 21st or something? o_x; *sobs a lot*
^yeah sometime in january
im getting a dvd froma friend :(
soon
relax
back off
i can't wait till tomorrow.
Well seems ok to revive this thread, seeing a how its still about the same season and all.
So who watched the season finale? Did you find it good? Why the hell did:
(SPOILER)Nathan sacrifice himself to stop the bomb when Claire could have just have shot him, causing him to die and come back, without the bomb going off. So Syler is alive, hmmm. And who is this man who is supposed to be worse than him? Molly mentioned him.
I watched it. It sure left you with a lot of unanswered questions for next season. Sylar is still alive and somehow I just can't believe they would kill off both Nathan and Peter. I'm hoping not.
Well Peter isnt dead, since he can regenerate, but Nathan is probably dead, for now.
They will probably bring him back one way or another.
Well, I thought that was a pretty lame finale. (SPOILER)The solution was to set the bomb off in the sky? Please. What a cop-out. Way too sappy for my tastes, too. I hope they have a big enough budget next season to have their heroes actually do something besides stand around and talk.
I was, however, really excited by Nikki's quickening. FINALLY!
hiro went back to 1671!!!!
what the hell happened in 1671??
It was a let down.
I mean, the entire season was leading up to this ONE episode. And all we get during the final showdown was a couple punches from Peter, one twack from Nikki, and one thrust from Hiro.
It was just anti-climatic.
I mean, I still liked the episode, it just didn't live up to all the hype. All that save the Cheerleader save the world stuff.
I'm excited for Volume II though. Looks interesting.
My guess is that Nathan simply flew really high, then let go of Peter right before he blew and jetted off. I mean, it looks like he can fly pretty freaking fast.
Anyway, yeah, longing for more answers in Volume II. can't wait to find out who the bad man Molly can't think about is and what Hiro will do in 1671.
I agree with Miriel, the whole season was hyping this finale and the showdown with Sylar was no where near as awesome as it should have been.
But I still really liked the episode. I hope Nathan is dead, Peter should survive because he's sexy :greenie:
Things that happened in the last episode:
- we get confirmation there's a new 'scary man' who can 'see you' if that girl thinks about him. Who can this person be? The new villain?
- Nikki used her power in front of Peter -- Peter is now Hulk smash power now *yay*
- all the heroes meet each other, but I presume Nikki / DL will be taking care of their kid in quiet sneakiness now
- Peter is alive, it's been stated repeatedly he won't die
- Nathan could have flew away from Peter to survive.
- Remember the bomb goes off during the day (actually two days after election day). The last episode took place on election day. So...
What's this about Sylar still alive?
(SPOILER)At the end of the episode you can see where Sylar was lying when he was stabbed is now just a pool of blood. There is a blood trail that leads to a manhole cover that's slightly open, implying that he slipped down it and escaped. If DL can do all he did after being shot, I'm sure Sylar can do that much.
I'm assuming he'll train with his sword and find out that he's a decendent of the ancient samurai he's always admired. Ever since we saw "bad-ass" Hiro in the subway when he contacted Peter, I've assumed that he would go back in time to feudal Japan to learn sword skills. I was also expecting Hiro and Ando to go back to feudal Japan to get the broken sword's creator to fix it for them, rather than finding a sword-fixer in NYC.
lol Hiro gets to meet Kensei. How cool is that?
I didn't think this episode was a let down. I wasn't expecting a big climactic fight. It was never getting hyped up to be anything like that as far as I saw it - Hiro would only get one chance to hit Sylar, and Petrelli's deal was far more about controlling Sprague's power than about fighting Sylar, and has been for like four episodes now. So it was pretty likely to be a lot of talking and "Kill me!" "I can't!" and stuff, and not so much combat. Besides, Sylar is still alive, and IIRC Kring said the fight we saw set up at the end of Five Years Gone would be shown in some form.
Molly and Micah were adorable. Parkman noooooooo ;______; He's my fave character why did that happen? I want him to live even more than Molly does. :(
I just started catching up to heroes today by watching a few episodes online and I was startled when I witnessed the new plot twist. This wasn't because it surprised me, but that I immediately noticed that It was the exact same plot twist from the Greatest graphic novel of all time: Watchmen. I am a huge comic geek, and surely like the masses of other watchmen fans we were laughing at the depths Tim Kring's writing team went for a supposedly "original" plot.
In Heroes the Casino Owner Mr. Linderman, a very rich and now retired hero reveals that he is behind the planned explosion in New York in hopes that it will unite the world. In watchmen, written twenty years earlier, a retired and very rich superhero named Adrien Veidt (Ozymandias) reveals that he was behind an attack on New York which killed millions in hopes of uniting the world and distract from the current cold war. Aside from this, the Character Sylar's origin is not unlike that of Dr. Manhattan; in which, they both happened to have been young watchmakers before receiving their powers.
This plot twist resemblance is far too similar to be unnoticed. I am worried that it may make many believe that the soon to be made Watchmen movie is in fact stealing from Heroes. Did anybody else notice this as clearly as I have, does this fact not bother anybody as much as it does to me?
Unfortunately you will have to crusade for the cause of the Watchman, and point out that the copyright date is far before Heroes.
Um. First off, it's Isaac, not Issac.
Second off, she wasn't talking about him. Zack was the potentially gay friend of Claire's who had his memory wiped. NOT the artist.
Okay, I also saw the parallel between Linderman and Ozymandias (Which is inevitable as I am Ozy's biggest fanboy), but the charge that Sylar and Manhatten are somehow connected by more than coincidence just because they both made watches...? That's a stretch.
Monday?
Monday in September you mean?
Just to clear up a couple of things:
- The writers have stated that the bomb story-arc is now over. There is no second bomb or another catastrophe like it that could happen next season. The timing of the bomb events was a "mistake" on their part to have it all happen on election night rather than two days after during the day. Also, they wanted to have Nathan be a good guy at the end, and the only way they could think of doing that was to "sacrifice" (if he's really dead) himself to save Peter.
- Volume II's (next season's) story arc is about Hiro's heritage and his powers.
Just goes to show that not everything is significant and has hidden meaning.
So next season will be all about Hiro? I like the guy but I don't think he's enough to fill a whole season.
I doubt it will be entirely, as I read that next season will also reveal how Sylar extracts the powers of other heroes from their brains.
Link.

and apparently Tim Kring said that this volume might actually last half the season and continue with the other from the middle season onwards i guess! Tighter stories, more answers, 24 episodes (+ 6 eps of Origins)...Heroes is expanding....lets hoope it can keep up the good work on season 2
Hiro said 'Dai Pinchu' (big pinch, or to be in a 'big pinch'), but I guess you can translate it to mean 'oh s*' or something similar.Quote:
Loved hiro's "#@!*" it reminded me of Cid
Unlikely. There are a lot of 'generations' evident in Season 1, most notably the Petrelli line. Just because they may not have all started in the same time period (or who knows, maybe they have...) doesn't mean we'll only see Hiro's line - it's just the one that was shown, and the easiest one to transition towards.
I only hated one thing about the show- how it would get you on the edge of your seat then go off, gggggggggooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddd I cant wait til next season when does it come around?
