Aeris, died so early, only on the first disc. It was a horrible, tragic event, that will cause people around the VG world to have nightmares. I wish Yuffie would have died! Anyways, post your opinion here. (And Sephiroth fanatics/Tifa lovers/Aeris haters, dont just write "I laughed 'cause she was worthless.")

I was only 11 the first time I saw it, and I was around other people, so I had to act tough... But I was actually rather sad. Poor Aeris =(
Meh. I wasn't bothered. I did find it funny how there was no blood though. I never really used Aeris so I didn't have any emotion towards her death.

kept playing the game...i don't get attached to video game characters unless there is actual voice acting....strange because i can become close to characters in novels....oh well.
I laughed. But not because Aeris died, but because I was fighting Jenova had the Water Ring.

I beat Jenova, saved the game, and cut the grass before starting disk 2. I played to about halfway through North Crater, then saved before eating supper. I ate 2 pork chops, mashed potatoes, and corn. I then watched some t.v. and eventually went to bed. And that, my friends, is exactly what I did when Aeris died when I first got that far in the game 4 years ago.
As far as I remember I was pretty sad because I actually liked her and her magic abilities and wonderful protective limit breaks, but what is there to do, right? I've gotten over it, although I still use her a lot for as long as I can when I play Final Fantasy VII.
the very first time i saw it i had my mind made up that earis was meant to be the antagonists romance so i never had her out of my party n when she died i was like " . . . . . ZOMG!!!"

I was more concerned for the materia I had on her than her. That, and if anyone was actually going to pull off some insanely romantic and cheesy thing to save her. 'Cause that would've ruined the whole thing for me.

its a great and emotional scene and sephiroth is great in it. his cold hearlessness.
aeris was my least favourite main character on FF7 and it was neccasary for her to die. if she had lasted throughout the whole game, they would have seriously needed to change her personality because i dont think aeris is a very likeable character.
one of my favourite scenes in the game though.
I was shocked. I'd read about it in a computer games mag, so I was prepared for it, although they didnt mention which disk. So I was double shocked when it was disk 1. I thought it would be disk 3! But a great scene and the music was what pulled at me and I almost cried. The song still moves me to tears.
I was kinda "Awww poor cloud he never got to be with her:(" but then I didn't really give a smurf coz I loved the battle with Jenova. That was a great battle.:)
I thought to myself "who the hell is areith", then I read up on FFVII :D

I was quite shocked, as I'd been living in FFVII for the previous months and had no idea of what was going to happen next.
But the battle with Jenova was fun. One of the easiest in the whole game, I think.

Anyway,this somehow reminds me of a thread(more than a year old) with a member saying how he tried to "revive" Aeris with gameshark,but afterwards regret it because she had no soul and he felt she was more like a zombie...

i cryed for like an hr realy i am ony 12 and yes i am a girl but everytime i thought of it i cryes so it took me an hr to get over it and i was just like damn you sephiorh for 15 min strait realy
I don't think is a wise thread title. There aren't many, but I'd guess that there are a few people who dont' know that Aeris dies. And if they wanted to find out when it happened, sucks for them, they now know.
Anyway, I figured it wasn't permanent. I figured we'd have to bring her back to life, Chrono Trigger style. It was weird because up until shortly before the end of the game, I was waiting for Cloud or someone to talk about how we were gonna go about bringing her back. And it just never happened.
The first time I saw the scene where she gets aced, we were playing on a surround sound system with a hefty subwoofer. You could feel the sound of the blade being pulled out of her. It was surreal, honestly. And the fact that the music continues into the fight with Jenova just draws out the feeling.
I cried for about thirty minutes, had a dream that Aeris came from heaven to watch over my family and help us learn to become pure people..........................................................HAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm Serious!

I went "Wow", turned it off, went to my computer, and downloaded the soundtrack. Awesome death song.
I cared little. She was just another fell character in an attempt to turn around an already boorish plot. So long as Vincent still lives, I'm sure we are all just fine and dandy.

Besides, the game has been out for over ten years. I believe it was after one or two when spoiler tags are deemed unneeded.

Coming to the FFVII board and described its plot as "boorish" isn't wise, either. I mean, obviously, you're coming into a thread where people are discussing their emotional reactions to a very emotional moment in video game history. You know, the kind where you watch a sword go through a main character's lower torso, accompanied by emotional music and a surreal scene of FMV as Cloud later releases her into the water and she slowly sinks. If you come here talking like that, you're only going to get responses like the one I'm giving you now. Makes me think that maybe you're only hoping to stir up something like this.Quote:

Furthermore, I know this guy who has never seen Return of the Jedi, and two nights ago, he and I watched Star Wars, and last night we watche The Empire Strikes Back. Though you didn't care, Aeris' death may have been the biggest emotional moment in the game, even surpassing the game's ending.
I got very depressed over it. I was so into the storylien by this point. (True power there - Well done SquareSoft!) I was actually drinking over it...
There was also a bit of irony in it as well, concidering the names I gave to Cloud Tifa and Aeris.
I opened a can of coke and sat on my bed. I already knew she was going to die because I skipped a few pages on my walkthrough by accident.. :rolleyes:
I read the internet before I played FF7 thus I knew everything before I should have.
When she died I thought how the hell can Cloud just stand there while a foot ahead of him Aerith sinks down and down and down. Cloud does not look like he is floating...
Alright, I apologise. However, I never enjoyed Final Fantasy Seven. I guess it was because I didn't play it until after I played VIII and had very high expectations. But, meh. I was giving my own outlook at the game, as well as how I felt. If you deem telling the truth unwise, do be it. *shrugs*
I put in disc two and continued playing.
I killed Jenova Life and then changed to disc 2.

I knew it was coming. I didnt care much. I never used her. I replaced her w/ Red XIII as soon as I could.
I also wish Barret could have died. And Yuffie. And maybeCid could have lost an arm or something. And Cait Sith, but only bc there's more than one of him.
If I would have played it for the first time at this age I think I would have been mad because I would have leveled up.
But since I was 12 it went like this.
Game: *STAB*
Me: OH NO!!
Game: *Sephiroth Smirks*
Me: *shocked and confused and thinking Sephiroth had a great smile*
Game: *JENOVA*
Me: YOU DIDN'T EVEN GIVE HER TIME TO DIE. ; ;
Game: *Tifa runs off all sad*
Me: *crying like a small baby*
Then it ended up me being angry at the game. :mad2:
A big old grin came across my face and I cried aloud in merth and merriment, it made my day.... It still warms my heart :heart:
PS- Not lying, I hated Aeris.
I assumed I would never play FFVII, so I read the plot/spoilers on it. This was before I knew what emulators were. When I did play it I knew what would happen, so I never used her in my party when I could avoid it. Waste of exp. Never got attached that way. between that and knowing it would happen, I just didn't care at all.
I sacrificed my firstborn in an attempt to get her back.
It's always worked before. :-/
I said, "Oh, okay. She's dead." And contined playing.
it was sad, but i knew i had the whole game to move on to. i held back from finishing disc 1 for a while, but eventually made it to the last disc, before accidentally erasing my own file.
I cried..
The music made me cry harder.
What i did? well i just went on and lvled my guys up cuz now i cant rely on aeris to heal my ppl

And after she died, it became twice as hard to keep your parties HP up.
Healing Wind does come in handy...

She's not particularly snarky on the date. All the dates are worth seeing, anyways. Even Barret's, though it's not really a 'date'.

The first time I played and she died I was kind of shocked but then I got mad because all the materia I had on her dissapeared!! It must've been a glitch in the game or something so I played it again and made sure that when she left that she didn't get ANY of my materia. I wasn't really that sad though because she created that annoying love triangle in the game:mog:

I knew it was going to happen as I had seen it a while back when my friend played it. When I finally got around to purchasing VII and got to the part of Aeris' death, I remember thinking; "What? This early???. I could've sworn this part happen later on, like, the last disk".

Actually, it kinda made me really mad because she was such a relief as a healer and because I lost my healer, this was the first time I ever wanted to jump into a video game and kick someones butt. But after a few minutes I was like, big deal, its just a game.
Knew it was coming so wasn't that shocked when it did happen so it wasn't as emotional as it may have been for some, was still a pretty powerful moment though.
