They blocked EoFF for being cult related. :(
Some anti-drugs page on the BBC website got blocked once.
My School has blocked every good site. Except Wikipedia which is strange.
Wikipedia is my #1 place for porn.
schools always block anything good :p
The only thing blocked at work is m-space.
When I was in school the internet wasn't a big issue yet, so I never had to deal with sites being blocked.
lol the funny thing for me was in high school whilst everyone else was having trouble getting to their fav sites I could get to all mine
Mine has everything blocked..
Nothing is blocked.
We play games almost every break some days.
College allows everything where I'm at. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if they encouraged porn viewing with the people we got that run our college...
One of my classmates at my old school was blocked from acessing information on a Canadian politician (I think it was Steven Harper, during the election, before became the Prime Minister).
Apparently work has banned everything good. Jerks...
My school should restrict some of links on google. It has loads of porn on there. The problem with google is that you type in something like "photosynthesis" and you get "naked chicks hot waiting". -_- Also, They haven't blocked youtube, but they should. My school has blocked Myspace though; which I'm not too concerned about.
Yeah...
I remember when I was in grade 7 and I was searching "strange behaviours of the panda bear" for a project. I decided to use the "I'm feeling lucky" option which basically links you directly to the first choice (I don't think that option exists anymore). I got a lesbian chat site. Naturally my classmates thought it was great.
This was in the days before school firewalls. :D
My school blocks everything, nothing surprises me.
Wikipedia does have some "risky images". I typed in sun-tanning and got an eyeful. Also researching sexual diseases on wiki is not fun.
My school district hasn't blocked forums.eyesonff or wikipedia, and that's all I could ever ask for.
(However, a new thing this year is that I think the computers are rejecting the cookies that let you log in, so I'm stuck as a guest. D: )
When I was in school, nothing was blocked on our computers and college allows us to view anything we need. >;D
The first search I ever ran had "The Hottest Sex Site On The Net" as it's first result. I was searching for tigers or something.
My work has nothing banned. Sometimes I wish they would ban stuff, but we're just expected to not use the computers for anything other than work related purposes. Actually, we're more than expected to as we had to sign a paper saying that we wouldn't be. Or, you could possibly get fired.
at my school they banned myspace wiki and youtube
anything with the word blog journal forum game and similar are blocked. Keyword filters are terrible.
My School ended up banning the entire Internet.
"If you can't sort it, get rid of it", they said. =/
I seem to recall a story:
A second grade teacher is in the computer lab with her class and she is teaching them how to use the internet or guiding the class to a certain site (the latter, i think). She accidentally leads the whole second grade class to a porn site.
You kids today are lucky. Back when I went to school, we didn't even have the internet! We had to read books to get our information. And we had to walk seven miles uphill both ways in the snow barefoot!
Grumble grumble.
(My school didn't block anything. I used to visit Rotten everyday!)
I know my work has bash.org and oldfriends.co.nz banned. Sucks. :(
I haven't come across any site that's blocked at my uni.
Lucky? My school provided us with BBC Micro computers to help us pass our Information Technology courses! The school budget didn't allow them to buy decent computers 'till the year 2000. It was an absolute joke...
My old college blocked google images under "Block Pornography".. very annoying.
Nothing blocked at school or work, but the work threatens to cut down on salary if we forget the clear the history.
Kids just do not see 'naked art' as 'art'. I have no filters
they blocked www.japanese-online.com (dunno why... it's a pretty stupid thing to block) but I get on it using www.surfsneaker.com.. I love it.
Well there are no banned sites in our school, but if you use sites where is porn or something like heavy violence, you wont be allowed to use computer for year or 2.:eep:
Our school is pretty lenient on the blocking, but if you go onto a banned site, a big red circle with a black ! and 'You are trying to access a restricted site' on it appears, and your computer makes a siren noise, which attracts oohs from the rest of the class.
Google was blocked for a while.
Hehe. This makes me think back to secondary school. I remember I found a way to get into the system's files. I found a file which contained all of the blocked sites and kept altering it. I told someone else how to do it but he got caught and got bollocked for it.
My school used to block webmessenger but it had the MSN installed! :D
At my school, at one time, it ran on keyword filters. Games was an evil keyword, it blocked almost everything. GameFAQS was the site I went to most then, and I could only access it at lunch, when the filters were lifted temporarily.
Also, EoFF was blocked, thanks to me :D
Luckily, the keyword system was removed and replaced by a better system later on.
Once I googled an image of girl scout cookies and that was blocked. I was like WHOA, WTF. (for an assignment in food services, btw)
wikipedia has porn on it?
