I see what everyone means when they say they hate Valkurm...

third time training through there, and then b00m

I am partied and all (as my Mules WAR/MNK).


guy starts calling me a noob for no specific reason, I examine him, he hasnt got a subjob yet (Galka THF), I reply that I am a "newb" and that a "noob" is something that he was showing some of the "noob" symptoms.

then instead of fighting the next few battles, he stands there leeching... AND THEN! the few battles after that, he begins air humping instead of fighting stuff.



anyone had any similar experiences?

Had a japanese thief who didn't know she was supposed to pull, nor how to do it. It was kinda hard to explain it to her too. we ended up with BLM pulling with magic.

Pulling is easy to learn, tricky to master.

I have alot of poopy valkurm stories ... but nothin' is comin' to mind as for specific instances ... Oh well, i will have to think hard >.<

I usually make my own parties in Valkurm if I'm leveling a new job, and I invite higher ranks 'cause I'm a jerk like that. >_> I like experienced players to help me get fast exp, because I hate leveling. :p

Also, since I hate leveling, and if I have a moron in my party... They usually get a /tell telling them to stop being a moron, and if they argue/keep being a moron, I boot 'em. :D I even partied with a friend who was too nice to boot somebody, so they gave me leader and I did it. :x Kek kek kek!

I have too many Valkurm stories. Cant stand the place, I refuse to go back without at least another LS member.

I think one of the worst party i have been in was when i was a blue/whm and only had cure 1, didn't have healing breeze .... i was ask'd to main heal by a rdm who wanted to melee and not enfeeb or heal .... i had a blm/whm backin me up when he could ... but dam ... thats weak !

I got totally yelled at when i was a rdm and tryin' to main heal in the dunes and they thought i wasn't doin' a good enough job ...
funnily enough i only had cure 1 then too >.< not to mention i was enfeebin' (and they wanted me to melee) :nibbles: Gotta love those Valkurm'rs who know know how to play your job better, even though they are a war or thf >.<

Or usually a war/thf ;)

(incase anyone doesnt get it, its a completely useless sub untill your main is 30, untill then there are no benefits)

I was a WAR/THF...

I just really hate the monk job, and those were my only two options when I first started out. I managed to 30 ok.

It's better than no sub, which gave me an edge right there. Plus I was well equipped.

At that level, /thf wouldn't raise dex and evasion noticeably, but hey, no sub does in the dunes ;D. The only things that matter are the abilities, and few subs give useful abilities at that level. Thief gives what, Gilfinder and Steal :D, useless. /mnk gives Boost and Subtle Blow, which is way better than Steal and Gilfinder. At 20, having a thief sub actually starts doing something battle-wise. With Evasion Bonus you'll dodge a bit more, but still not enough to count on it. At the same time, a Monk sub would give you Counter, which I don't really know how often kicks in, so I'll leave it as that.

I played as war/thf myself though, because thf is my main, and i had no other job leveled for when I went to level my sub. Ofcourse, I wasn't aware of its uselessness at that time, but atleast it makes for more invites than war/nothing. I love war/thf post 30 though. My SA->Sturmwinds rip through anything. Sucks when the tank can't keep hate though, lack of /nin makes for a lot of damage taken.

Ah i c ... so /mnk would be the most advantageous way to take it.

i may take monk up and see if its cool ... but i still wanna do somethin' with my pld.

I find ways to solo / duo, maybe even trio, my way past Valkurm. So I hardly ever go there unless I get extremely lazy and want a PL'd party.

What is up with that ....

Every party i have been in lately that is in the Dunes ... there is a PL ... What the ???? is that all about ?!?!?!?

Esp since i get people in PT who think they are like the living breathing Qur'an or Koran (?) ... if you're soooo awsome and know like everything ... why do we need a PL ?

Korroloka Tunnel from 15-20 FTW !!!!

Yes, Korroloka Tunnel is far better as long as you have the patience not to go linking worms together. Even then, it's mind-numbingly easy to run away from them. Beats all the bad pulls/links and insane quarreling that seem to show up more often than not in Valkurm.

I find soloing in Valkurm to be rather nice though. :p Still not as good as Shakhrami, though. Worms win.

Never level'd there. Ive done Ordells Cave ... thats about lvl 17-20'sh (when i was solo'n with my bst.)>.<

Yeah, worms are about 17-21, bats are a little tougher, and gobs are the upper spectrum. There's always enough mobs, too. Just stick to the entrance and have a ball. It's also a decent place for parties that don't have teleports yet to get over to Korroloka or the dunes.

I will say that I was in a very good party in Valkurm not long ago. We camped near the goblin campfire northwest of Selbina and had hardly any downtime at all. Maybe the fact that my allies were all rank 6+ had something to do with it but meh...

partied in Valkrum once nd never went back....if i wanna lv a job 10-15 now i get my buddie to PL me to 15 in giddues..faster nd alot funner(yeah i know funner ain't a real word, so wat, sue me ;) )

It's funny because i usually have an 'interesting' time when i go into valkurm ... (to say the least) as any sort of job that employs magic ....

So far ive been through Whm, blm, brd, rdm and blu.

I took my war into valkurm and had an ok time needless to say i was hitting for far less than anyone else ... and managed to completely avoid valkurm with my smn.

Tonight ... i hope to take my almost lvl 9 pld up and into valkurm and kick some a$$ and forget my pad so i'll just have to kick some more a$$ :lol:

I never go to party before level 12. I really like going at my pace and I try to drag that out for as long as I can.

I usually goto valkurm from about 9-15 ish ... then to basty (kor. tunnel) to at about 20 then on to qufim >.<

I go to kor. tunnel at about 16.

it seems like a right moment.

though I really hated going through there with my WHM and BLM, its hard to have downtime when you have got a camp that has to move around (as the good spaces are ALWAYS taken) a very differant experience to what I was use to.

When i took my pld from 9-13 i made a LS pt ... it was great fun ... actually the best time i've had in the dunes and it was my first time as a tank ^^

Which is wierd cause i didn't really tank when i play'd war >.<

I remember one time I had two paladins in one party. One had pld/thf the other pld/whm.. both asked what "tank" meant. :mog: 2 hours and 450 exp ._.

Today I was with PLD, NIN, NIN in the jungles. I thought it was going to suck but we did pretty well. I guess anything is fine in the jungles.

As for Valkurm I've gone through pretty smoothly my last couple times.

I dont mind it all that much anymore. Was PL a friend with my PLD and a guy offered me 20k to raise him and his friend. Easiest 20k ive made yet :)

Yeah, I wonder where he got that money...

I've had this WHM Taru claiming his main was 59PLD and he was telling me not to use my PLD White Magic spells until he's out of MP. I also had a Taru WAR telling me "Not to use all my cures on myself" or something to that effect.

Apart from that Valkurm was always pretty smooth, that was until I leveled WHM.

I was looking forward to getting WHM to a high enough level to party, but when the time came every single one of the parties sucked. now I'm afraid to go back there, I even resorted to duoing with a SMN friend (30 exp per kill and a crapload of downtime :().

Right when a bad party is going to turn into a good one I eithier 1. Loes connection or 2. {Time for work!}:Oo:

I'm a Lvl 19 WAR/MNK, trying to just get one more level so i can go to the next place (Apparently where all the level 20's go.. can't remember the name) but there is literally NOONE around these days that will party. And if they do they act all superior to you which is the worst thing. Any other suggestions for getting up that level?

Suck it up and solo. Use about 2 charges from a band and solo for a day or 2 then move on.

Yesterday I was chocoing to Selbina and I enter the dunes. I do a shout: If anyone needs a raise let me know.
I get to Selbina and theres a dead guy at the entrance. I swear, im gonna start up a service like the teleport one. Gonna start staying in the dunes for a while and start charging people anywhere from 1k-5k a raise. :D

Always dead people in the dunes. lol

I usually goto korroloka tunnel at 15 then at about 19-20 move onto qufim. Or u could of course solo >.>;

yeah, after 2 or 3 runs through the dunes levels, i found it was usually much faster and far less painful just to solo to 20

The dunes are not bad at all, it's just the people. Play with people you know and are comfortable with and it's a breeze. The thing I hate the most is a party full of fairly new players trying to take on ITs. That, in my opinion is just a big waste of time. Stick to the EM, T, and VT. The less death, the better.

All that is solely my opinion, though.

I like the Dunes. havent had a problem there yet, as far as parties go. Been there 3 times now and the 2nd and 3rd I was in and out in about 2 days each. Plus it felt nice getting 2.5-3 levels in one day after being lvl 69/70 and playing for 2 hours without a level. :p
