Do you get anything special for killing monsters during the beginning of disc 2?
I never had the patience to risk running around forever and kill like, 100 monsters or whatnot, just to find out I obviously wouldn't get anything.

Why would you? @_@
You'd think there'd be something in it as it's an RPG. I realise you're probably suposed to feel good about yourself and blah blah, but there's normally something else there.
EXP? :D
Leveling up, getting good items, and looking at the battle meter to feel proud. :)
Psh, avoiding levelling up is something to be prouder of!
Leveling BADBADBAD in game! All need is 100 strong magics and youre set. You need stay LOW level. Monster stays weak.
It's also a bit silly as she still thanks you if you don't kill ANY monsters at all.
By the way while where on the Winhill subject; What are "Buchubuns" is it misstransltion or is it hidden monster?
That makes sense, thanks.
Actually you can beat the game very easily without drawing or fighting many times.
You only need quistis card and then refine it into 180 Triple Magic.
180 Triple Magic is more than enough to beat this game.
Try it if you dont believe me!
If you kill something like 1x10^99 monsters there won't be enough space for Laguna to give his toll and your game will probably crash
rofl hahaha, that'd be pretty sweet XD
Uhh yes they do it's CALLED FFIX
That or FFFF. Both are nice round numbers, and are both one away from requiring another digit to represent.
FF8 can't stop counting at 9999; it has attacks with 5-digit damage!
It can if the programmers said "Don't bother" for that particular value.
Damage may be capped around FFFF, but that doesn't mean everything goes up that high.
Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this were true:
0-20 monsters: *NOTHING*
21-35 monsters: 5 POTIONS
36-50 monsters: 5 ETHERS
51-65 monsters: 1 ELIXIR
66-100 monsters: 10 ELIXIRS
101-150 monsters: 1 MEGALIXIR
151-200 monsters: 10 MEGALIXIRS
You probably recognize this kind of stuff.
Besides, you get a higher SeeD Rank by killing lots of enemies during the Exam.
Do you understand my way of thinking? :)
If I recall, Laguna doesn't get anything for patrolling and killing the monsters because he feels obligated to protect the town because they took care of him. Storywise, it wouldn't make sense for you to get anything because he has already been 'paid' by the town for taking him in.
No he tells himself to do it, as Duncan said he felt obligated. Besides random encounters are random as long as they can be blocked by things like No Encounters, and can be escaped from, if they aren't blocked by No Encounters, and cannot be escaped from they are what you call, Forced Battles.
You mean Lindblum during the Festival of the Hunt? Its a Tournament and you are told that you will get a prize if you win. Also you can see those battles on the screen and aviod them, so they aren't random battles.
But there is a count (In FFVIII) for how many monsters. It seams strange how they'd bother to tell you how many monsters you've "Exterminated" if there's nothing to go by there.
If I had made the game I would have done it by stages.
