Sweet dude, sweet. It really looks like this one will focus on Sandman, GG2, and the black costume, saving Venom for another movie, which is good. They shouldn't try to do too much in one film.
I kind of wondered how they were going to work Sandman into the plot: in the most stupid way possible, of course.
Still, it should be alright as long as they don't try and bring Eddie Brock into the story too significantly. I love Venom as much as the next person, but if they try and fit too many SM villains into the same movie they'll end up with something similar to the horrible mess that was X-Men: The Last stand.

A source from imdb who saw a testing of the movie has said that Venom will appear briefly in Spiderman 3. I'm not sure how true that is, but it doesn't seem like they will be focusing too much on Venom in this one.
I thought this was going to be a trilogy and that was going to be it.

Yeah, the studio already signed the contract to have six movies made.
On the subject on Venom, he's definitely in this movie since they had a clip of him jumping at the camera as the last shot of the Comic-con trailer.
Also, one of my friends gave me some pretty good evidence there will be at least one fight between Spider-Man and Venom. For you see, even in the symbiote suit, Spidey's webs are still that silver color.
In the trailer, they have Venom's black webbing:
trapping Mary Jane
And more prominently, choking normal spidey
Thus, I think they'll introduce Venom probably after Sandman's already defeated and then he'll have one big fight with Spidey. Finally, we all leave the theater drooling over Spider-Man 4.
but doesnt the trailer show venom shoving sandmans head into the train?

I dont see this movie surpassing the second, too much going on in my opinion. Sadman looks dull (he was easily the worst Spider Man villain ), were all bored of the Green Goblin now I imagine, but Venom will still be a treat. And Im a 100% certain hes in the film as they introduce Brock in the trailer ( who's only purpose would be to become Venom ) and the fact that you see Peter in a church ripping the suit off, which happens to be where Brock becomes Venom in the cartoon.
I love these movies. They should keep making them until Toby dies from exhaustion. That trailer was totally hot.

any other major villians that went up against the big spidey? I dont think kang(hunter dude) or the vulture would make the cut IMO, nor the Rhino. maybe as henchmen, but spideys villians were mostly always solo, except for the sinister six.
Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks Carnage will be the villain in the final movie.:)

IMO, Shrek and Pirates has nothing on Spider Man. Regardless of whatever else comes out about the same time, I think they'll have no problems getting back the money they spent on the movie.
The trailer made me a little uneasy, to be honest. I am concerned about how they are going to work the Sandman into the story, but I do like that the story seems to focus more on human relationships than special effects.
I am so confused about what Venom's role will be at this point, it wouldn't suprise me if he was the main villian or barely in the movie.

The confusion over people thinking there was only going to be 3 movies, maybe because people might of heard (which i read that also) that Toby and Kirsten decided to stop after the third movie, which would make sense to stop making SM movies if they wern't on board.. As I understood it, Toby doesn't want to do any more Spideys, and if KD is out too, then bleh...I HATE it when they recast mid-series. You get attached to certain actors "being" their characters, and it's just never the same when they replace them.
I have a lot of confidence with what Raimi is doing with the Spidey series though. It's not the comics, and it's not the cartoons, but the movie series has it's own continuity that gives it a sort of "definitive theatrical version" feel. Now if only they could have figured out something better for the Green Goblin's suit in Spidey1 and Harry's in Spidey3. :aimmeh:
Anyway, the trailer rocks. They show just little enough to keep me wanting more. Hopefully though they'll throw the fans a bone and actually show Venom to the public sometime before we get to the theatres.
Yes, recasting the main characters mid-series reminds me of what happened to the Batman franchise (until Batman Begins came), so I hope we don't see the same happening to the Spider-Man films.Quote:

I now want to see this movie now more than ever. I'm going to drag my parents to the movie theater to see it, no matter how much they complain.
I've always had a problem with the way they told the Spider-Man story but I've let go of that. I can accept that it's a warped version of a classic story. I'm going to enjoy it for what it is though.
the other night on thanksgiving and they showed spider man 2 and during the commercials they were talking about spider man 3, and they showed a clip of brock getting some of the black stuff, so looks like you'll see him turn into venom atleast

Nice, Venom sure looks the part. I hope he actually has a part in the movie though, not just a quick appearance and an OTT fight scene with spidey to please the fans. Which is likely going to happen. Sam never wanted Venom in the film but was advised to to please the fans. I doubt Sam will have a drastic change in heart and give him a proper role *sigh*
Oh, and I doubt it will leave off on a cliff hanger, Venom and Spideys confrontation is almost certain to happen. Who would hype the appearance of Venom to only leave it off on a cliff hanger ?
