Let's just say he'll make a few "sacrifices" later on to make up for his below average spellcasting skills.
I hated Tellah. He's only good for lvl 2-3 magic early in the game. If he gets hit, he's dead. Especially in the fight before Cagnazzo.

Specifically:
tellah turns out to be very good at building altars, and he eventually recalls the truth about himself- That he's an Aztec Priest who can please the gods with his master craftsmanship with corpses and sacrificial altars.
Eventually, all you need to do is capture a calf or some such and one sacrifice can bring the fiery wrath of the gods down upon an enemy.
(SPOILER)Don't use "Sacrifice" against Rubicant
Tellah would have been better off as an empty space in your party.
Anyone that says:
clearly is better off.Quote:
"You must have been controlled by the Baron while amnesiac!"
Three reasons. Firstly he has the worst HP growth in the game. Secondly because of storyline purposes he can't go over 90 MP, meaning of the high-level spells he can cast, he'll only manage one or two per battle max. Thirdly his stats are easily the worst in the game. Most of physical stats will be very low and actually get lower as he gains in levels, and it's even possible for him to lower every one of his stats to 1 (0 in the GBA version) if one were to have him in your party at higher levels.
Yeah...that's why I strip him and leave him dead. He's a waste of xp
Yes, for story purposes, his MP is lowered, in his defense, if you pay attention to what the elder says, he says Tellah is in no condition to cast Meteor/Meteo, which foreshadows his vitality and such stinks until he gets a moment to shine against Golbez, but the end result of that battle is a spoiler.
You can't expect much from an old guy huh?
I never really have much trouble with him, just stick him Back Row and leave him to his spell casting. Most of the time you can just use Osmose to fill up his MP fairly quickly (2-3 turns), and you rarely need to be casting Level 3 spells every turns, so I don't really run into the low MP problem. Other than that he's your typical mage with low physical attributes.
Plus the Magus Sisters and Dark Elf would have been a pain without his White Magic.
Tellah was godly when fighting Scarmilogne, and Cagnazzo, I honestly have no idea why you guys are complaining.
He runs out of MP too quickly, and has a habit of dying.... thats mostly why they are complaining. :)
In the PS1 version, I found osmose to very rarely get any MP back... making him very low on MP.. but in the GBA version, osmose seems to get huge numbers and he can refill his MP at will.
He still has horribly low HP and dies alot.. that is probably my only quam with him.
i think i could of not beaten the bosses without training if i didn't have tellah. the 3rd level elemental magic like firaga were Godly against the bosses. i don't like to train my characters, i play with skill so tellah was the most handy person when facing a boss.
I dont know what you guys are talking about. I had no problems with Tellah at all.
because he had low MP and couldn't cast any harmful magic in battle without losing almost all of his MP and he KOs easily. then, of course he(SPOILER)died casting meteor that didn't kill Golbez but killed him instead
It's not like anyone forces you to use the high-level spells, you know.
Besides, any MP loss can be cured with an Ether. :D
I say stick to these spells:
Cure2
Life
Heal
Fire2
Ice2
Bolt2
Virus
You won't need no more. :)
ah but auron was (SPOILER)dead :choc2:
Auron appeared 45 but was actually 35.
Tellah rocks because of his awesome vocabulary: "Spoony."
It's not his fault. He was just made that way.
Yeah, Tellah is godly. Freaking tornado the Dark Elf.
On the bright side he made a good punchbag for the enemies as they focused vein effort on him why you slaughtered the enemies...
Tellah kicked butt. IT takes a while to get those spells with anyone else, level 40+ with Rydia. Tellah gets them early in the 20's, which is where the rest of your party is.
Withought Tella Some of those fights would be a pain in the but.
I rarely used Tellah for healing, pure power from that bad boy.
He was a very useful character in the beginning of the game, when you first acquire him. He continues to be of use until after the fight of Cagnazzo, since with Cagnazzo you use your 2 black mages to cast higher-level Thunder spells on him to beat him quickly. His stat growth was horrible however. In the fight before Cagnazzo, you have to be on the tip of your feet. One wrong move and he's dead, due to low HP and bad defense.
for a character in battle. he sucks, yeah. but for the time in the game you use him and having such high level spells so early, is extremely useful.
but he's not a main permanent character for an obvious reason/
