Loving Black Magic

So, what's your most used/loved Black Magic spell in all Final Fantasy games?



Obviously everyone has one particular favorite...Mine being the Thunder series (Thunder/Thundara/Thundaga etc.)

The Thunder, or Blizzard. series for me. I'm a big fan of both, but I guess I'll go Ice ;).

Fire never really impresses me that much, and neither do any others, and ultima is really too flashy for my tastes.

I'm gonna go with the classic Fire here.

I always like the best stuff, and hence I answered Ultima. :rolleyes2

Flare. At high levels, Flare and Ultima both do 9999. Flare costs less MP.

What? Meteor isn't up there?

Meh, I guess it's actually more Time Magic rather than Black Magic.

I'd go with Flare or Ultima then, because who wouldn't love making explosions at will?

But, out of the basic ones, Fire/Blizzard/Thunder, I prefer Thunder.

I knew there was something missing...
But actually, Meteor and Ultima supposedly co-exist with eachother, because in FF9...Vivi's most powerful spell was Meteor. Ultima existed only as an attack that Kuja could use. *Growl*

No no Vivi's most powerful spell was Doomsday he had Meteor, but Doomsday was much more powerful, you forgot Comet too.

... Rot it all! *Snaps fingers*

I would add those spells, had I the room--But the limit for choices is 20. Gaahh.

ff8 comes before ff9. And in ff8 meteor is far superior to Ultima.

i never leaned to any one of them as a favorite, except for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. i'd have my Black Mages/subs cast a wide range of Blizzaga spells, which are usually 1-hit KOs. in my opinion, it is the most powerful elemental spell...

Got to go with good ol' Ultima.

Definitely Bio. Heavy damage and poison can't be beat, and it usually comes around midgame, as opposed to Flare/Ultima.

well...with the choices given...I have to go with flare.

Ultima looked so freakin' cool when Kuja used it :)

I went with the simple fire spells cause there my favorite. :) Another spell I enjoy using is the Frog spell, cause frogs are just too cute.

Lightning spells make me happy.

Nope, Ultima is the stronger magic.

I picked Drain, it's great.

I'd say Ultima. I like the white mage Holy spell the most though.

Blizzard series and Waters. I've always been more fond of water type things. :razz:

Meteo was the ultimate spell in FFIV.

I love time magic personally. Best magic ever... Haste! Nothing beats being the fastest.

Of Black magic listed... Flare. Plus FFI NUKE = Flare, so it started it all

Nuke is awesome, but the vote has to go to Break.

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love the Stone graphics, and I love turning the monsters to ston.

And the Golem Staff in FF3... Oh my god....!!!
(SPOILER)On nes rom, probably, what? Famicom? Anyhow, it isn't immediately useful since you can get it when you only have WM capabilities. But the power of break is that Stone is almost a sure thing is you use it 3 or 4 times. The Golem Staff has a chance of casting Break, so, once you get a higher hit% staff wielding class, dual woield him with Golem Staffs and every enemy you hit will be stoned to death from the sheer amount of 3 damage hits that cast Break/Stone each time
So beautiful.

But then I just like the spell in general. I max level it in FF2, against all everybody's better judgement. I always buy it in FF1, and it's just always an asset in every FF game. I love it! BREAK! STONE! BREAK! STONE! BRAK
